I got an outfit out of the wardrobe that I want to freshen up to wear tomorrow - should dry overnight on the radiator.

Put it on the quick wash which is meant to take 14 minutes at 22.50.

It is still going and not even spinning, and I am waiting to get it out so I can go to bed.

Why say it takes 14 minutes when it clearly doesn't?! 🤬

I dunno, but mine does this too.

TwistinMyMelon · 13/04/2019 23:26

Sometimes it will also say on the display that it's got 3 minutes left, come back 15 mins later and it's still going

ohfourfoxache · 13/04/2019 23:26

Ditto - claims it has 1 minute to go but that minute lasts for 30......

ExplodingCarrots · 13/04/2019 23:27

My 1hr 49 wash always takes 2hrs 20 minutes ...no idea why.

AriadnePersephoneCloud · 13/04/2019 23:28

Mine is a liar too. We're on holiday at the moment and I put the washing machine on. Three hours I exclaimed in horror. Don't worry, DH reassured me, they always lie. Yep. Four hours later!!!!!!!!

TwistinMyMelon · 13/04/2019 23:29

Finally it's spinning! Forty minutes later. Then of course the door will take fecking ages to bloody unlock..,

Mine does this too - the lying bastard. Tells me the wash will take 1 hr 15 mins and 1 45 mins later, it still has 25 mins to go. LIAR!

Tube stations are fucking liars too. 1 min for the next Victoria line to Brixton you say? 3 mins later and it's still 1 buggering minute away.

ineedaholidaynow · 13/04/2019 23:30

Mine lies the other way. Says it's going to 3 hours then about 10 minutes later it stays its only going to take 2 hours, even with a full load. Think mine might be broken

jessicawessica · 13/04/2019 23:31

I bloody hate mine!
I leave the house whilst it's on a 14 min wash, come home to find it's done a 2 hour dry as well.
I won't leave the house now till mine has finished the wash and I can turn it off before it decides to do a dry cycle.

newmummalion · 13/04/2019 23:31

Weirdly I was reading my washing machine manual yesterday and it said that if the load is uneven it will move the drum in such a way to try and distribute it evenly and this can add time to the cycle. Maybe yours does this?! Hmm

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 13/04/2019 23:32

We have a John Lewis washer dryer that lies about how long is left and then summons you at the end of the cycle but won’t open the bloody door for ages.

jessicawessica · 13/04/2019 23:32

God I so miss twin tubs.

Osirus · 13/04/2019 23:33

Mine recalculates the time based on weight and temp I have noticed. So what I thought would be 2 hours is actually far shorter with a lighter load.

Osirus · 13/04/2019 23:33

Mine also plays a tune when it’s finished, but sometimes will stop halfway before finishing it 5 minutes later.

flashbac · 13/04/2019 23:34

If you've only put one dress in there's not enough weight in there to allow it to spin so it won't or it will keep trying until it can.

MT2017 · 13/04/2019 23:34

Yep, mine lies too. I hope you got to bed at some point Grin

Angie169 · 13/04/2019 23:36

I have got a old machine ( about 15 yrs old ) it does not have a timer on it so when I first used it I timed how long each wash took ( that was a riveting few weeks ) could you do the same.

Is it possible that it is some very devious advertising /selling point,
"this new Whizzo washing machine washing in 16 minuets"
in realty , yes it does wash in 16 mins however it take 10 mins to fill and 45 mins to spin. ???

Glitterblue · 13/04/2019 23:37

ineedaholiday mine also does this. The 2 hour 50 minute cycle loses about 40 mins in the first little while. I'm sure the 10 minute spin is longer than 10 mins though and the last minute of some cycles is an awfully long minute....

BreconBeBuggered · 13/04/2019 23:39

Mine's simply an arrogant little shit. I've read the manual. If it decides something's too dirty for a quick wash, it keeps the bloody thing in there until it decides it's clean, and sod anything I had planned.

Bunnybigears · 13/04/2019 23:41

Mine was lying to me, I cleaned the filter or whatever is behind the turny thing and it stopped lying to me.

Leeeeemon36 · 13/04/2019 23:41

There’s nothing wrong with your machines, just your way of thinking.
Washing takes 16 mins-ok, then you have another 3 rinses 10 mins each and spin ranging from 10 to 13 mins plus another 2-3 of decreasing the clothes and waiting for the door to unlock...

Forgive me, too much wine and my bastard machine does the same.

TwistinMyMelon · 13/04/2019 23:41

Finally hung up and I can get some sleep. Lying bastard.

Fairly sure it's not just cos it was a small load as the cycle I usually use is meant to be an hour and it always takes far longer whatever the size load.

Lying fucker.

I hate the way mine bleeps at me once the program ends until I switch it off.

TwistinMyMelon · 13/04/2019 23:43

My bloody dishwasher does the sodding bleeping thing when it's finished. Means I can't put it on at night or it'll bleep all sodding night.

I live in a rented house and am moving soon and getting all new white goods and can't bloody wait...
