To hate that my washing machine LIES!

I got an outfit out of the wardrobe that I want to freshen up to wear tomorrow - should dry overnight on the radiator.

Put it on the quick wash which is meant to take 14 minutes at 22.50.

It is still going and not even spinning, and I am waiting to get it out so I can go to bed.

Why say it takes 14 minutes when it clearly doesn't?! 🤬

Mines a totally lier too, I hate it when it does this to me.

BackforGood · 13/04/2019 23:47

God I so miss twin tubs.

Grin Grin Grin

CornishYarg · 13/04/2019 23:52

Yep, another lying bastard of a washing machine here. I used its smug, trademarked 1hr "Time4You" setting for the first time today to give me time to hang it up before I left the house. 1hr 25mins it took so I had no time to hang it. The standard wash I normally use takes 1hr 35 mins. I hardly think a 10 min time saving is worth a boasty trademarked setting.

I'm also convinced that it spies on me and takes 3 times as long to unlock the door if it knows I'm waiting.

Mamalicious16 · 13/04/2019 23:53

LTB

Namechangerextraordinaire1 · 13/04/2019 23:55

Mine does this toooooo. Need to go somewhere but have a load of washing on. 'How long left? 2 minutes. Perfect!' Potter around finishing getting ready and go back.... 2 minutes. Why are you messing with me!!!! Why have a display jf you use it only to toy with me?!?!

justasking111 · 13/04/2019 23:56

I have noticed that my washing machine and dishwasher take longer in the winter. I surmise that the temperature of the water is much colder so takes longer to heat.

WattdeEll · 14/04/2019 00:30

My previously faithful washing machine has started lying to me recently. One minute left it says, but it is not 60 of our earth seconds in that minute, it can be 12 minutes, or longer. All trust has gone. Maybe they are in it together? What else are the machines lying about?!
Might try cleaning the turny thing like pp suggested.

PickAChew · 14/04/2019 00:35

If you've just got a couple of things in, it probably can't balance to spin.

Why did you leave it so late?

zen1 · 14/04/2019 00:41

Mine is a pathological liar, and delights in it. I checked a wash earlier and it said 15 mins left. Checked it five mins later and 18 mins were left. Sometimes it says 2 mins left and then finishes abruptly within seconds, other times the last minute goes on for ever!

TwistinMyMelon · 14/04/2019 10:44

@PickAChew - seriously?! 😂

What an unprepared slattern I am! 😂

Mine does this.

It’s something to do with water pressure not being consistent according to google.

It also beeps, refuses to open the door.

The dishwasher however attacks you by springing the door open near the end of the programme.

mirime · 14/04/2019 11:18

I've never timed mine, I feel the need to now.

Mine does play an offensively chirpy tune when it's finished. I turned it off but DH turned it back on again.

NWQM · 14/04/2019 13:54

We've just LTB our dryer... that showed the lying little overreacting, made my life a pain who was boss. It cried - all over the new hall flooring - but I stayed strong and firmly*
showed it the door

by firmly I mean incompetently and with too much effort needed whilst hoping no neighbour came home and pledging to really really go back to the gym.

youwouldthink · 14/04/2019 14:01

Its when its counted own and on the last minute and you're trying to get it out before work...that minute goes on FOREVER. . Everytime! Total liar!

user1471590586 · 14/04/2019 14:03

Yep, I've often had the same problem with the washing machine but the dishwasher is even worse.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 14/04/2019 14:06

Mine also lies. It's a Samsung.

My dryer totally ignores the fact that I want my clothes dry too and just stops when it fecking pleases.

Likethebattle · 14/04/2019 14:22

Mynlady washing ms hind opened the second it finished. Beep-door open, I forgot what a pain it is to wait for the door to unlock!

80sMum · 14/04/2019 14:31

Mine can take absolutely ages if it has a very small, but heavy, load (eg one towel or one cotton jacket). This is because it won't spin until the load is evenly distributed in the drum, to avoid damage to the machine.

On the other side of the coin, my machine also "lies" about timings, but in the opposite direction to the OP's. I find if I put in a fairly small load onto the cotton wash, initially it says 3hrs (the default), then after it's weighed the load it might say 2 hrs 10 minutes. I then find that when I go back into the kitchen less than an hour later, it's already spinning and the timer says 5 minutes remaining!

GarthFunkel · 14/04/2019 14:43

Mine only lies when the waste pipe is clogged with fluff and limescale and it can't drain - so each bit of the cycle takes longer.

It also recalculates at the beginning of the load - so a 40 cotton wash takes 3.37 max, but then it weighs it (possibly?) and recalculates it to 2.20 ), for example.

labazsisgoingmad · 14/04/2019 16:56

Do you know i loved a twin tub used to help mum with hers and had one myself when first married they are marvellous

TellerTuesday4EVA · 14/04/2019 18:18

This pisses me right off, the number of times I've clocked it & thought oh only 5 minutes left I'll wait for it to finish before XYZ & I'm still waiting 20 minutes later!!

BlueSkiesLies · 14/04/2019 18:19

Mine does this too!

It will get down to 1 minute, then goes back up to 2 and actually takes 5.

Lies!

Meatbadger · 14/04/2019 18:20

Thought it was just mine that did this! Lying toerags

YouBumder · 14/04/2019 18:23

Yep mine is a lying bastard as well

InvisibleLlamaBurningCamel · 14/04/2019 18:27

It's the neediness of appliances that gets me. In the last 3/4 years we seem to have acquired appliances that are so demanding of attention. The dogs get particularly wound up by it all. The worst one is the fridge - putting shopping in, or simply standing with the door open and wondering what to make for supper - it insists on blinkin' beeping! (GRRR)
