Things that are really weird when you think about them

Someone said to me today that balloons are like a plastic bag of someone's breath...

I'd never thought of it like that before and to be honest it made me feel a bit nauseous!

Do you have anymore examples of things that are actually really fucking weird when you think about it?

The word bed actually looks like a bed from the side.

Grin thank you.

FredMerc · 16/04/2019 11:22

I thought everyone sees detailed pictures in their mind or where ever it is behind my eyes really, all day long and when going to sleep etc it's like watching a movie.

Goodness seeing words when you think that's amazing.

Mine is carrying your children and separating physically but never emotionally and that drive to be their best and keep them secure. Makes me so glad I chose to be a female of the species.

Lweji · 16/04/2019 11:55

Makes me so glad I chose to be a female of the species.

What?

AnnieMay100 · 16/04/2019 14:18

Where you are sat/standing right now you are the only person in those exact coordinates on the planet at that moment

thecatsthecats · 16/04/2019 15:31

There is nothing more unnatural than office jobs, many of which (including mine) are pointless.

Amen to that. And it makes us fat.

On evolution... humans haven't stopped evolving entirely. There's still some divergence. But actually, we're altering our environment to suit our needs, rather than to other way around. But we're still modifying other species to suit our needs through evolution.

Like trying to breed dogs that don't miss us as much when we go out all day to work in offices sitting under florescent lights and staring at screens!

animaginativeusername · 16/04/2019 15:57

How 'mum' and 'dad' have similar sounds in different languages.

animaginativeusername · 16/04/2019 16:03

I hope this makes sense and probably makes me sound cuckoo. : I always think or ponder that what is my 'story' about, because this life doesn't seem real, it's being dictated from elsewhere. I'm making choices but those choices are they even mineConfused

Thinkofsomethingoriginal · 16/04/2019 17:39

Putting kisses at the end of every text, etc. I do it to friends - I find doing it to strangers or vague acquaintances a bit too weird. But even to friends I think, in a real life conversation I wouldn't kiss them at the end of every sentence, so why in a written one?

animaginativeusername · 16/04/2019 18:13

Doppelgängers!!! Don't know if true, but I was told everyone has one

animaginativeusername · 16/04/2019 18:25

@BlackForestCake what happens to space if all the stars collapse, won't that increase the gravitational pull. how many other black holes are there. Could there be a similar 'hole' in the sky?

In every way it increasingly seems that the earth, our existence is ending. Not just because of climate change, but unexplained events of missing airplanes, increasing number of wars/attacks

"I heard somewhere that we can all see our nose but our brain doesn't register it."
Anyone else shutting one eye then the other to look at their nose? Just me then?

ILoveMaxiBondi · 16/04/2019 18:42

I can see my nose without shutting any eyes Blush

Brahumbug · 16/04/2019 19:58

The largest ship in the world may have a gross tonnage of 600, 000 tons but that is its displacement not it's weight. That is astonishing Grin

Thestral · 16/04/2019 20:15

@KeepingTheWormsQuiet - me too! I also saw a pregnant woman yesterday and my brain shouted "ooh, I wonder what that feels like?" at me. I have had 3 kids!

FredMerc · 16/04/2019 20:52

@Lweji

In order to carry a baby

HerRoyalFattyness · 16/04/2019 20:55

I think lweji is wondering how on earth someone chooses which sex to be.

FredMerc · 17/04/2019 02:08

Oh I see haha

I believe we choose our lives, this time i chose to be a female.

I guess a really weird thought process/belief system when you think about it Grin

YemenRoadYemen · 17/04/2019 04:15

Er, yes, it is.

Most humans live in pretty devastating poverty / subjugation, by virtue of nothing more than which country they were born in.

Do you think people are genuinely choosing that life? Confused

Hmm, this time round, I'll take living in a cardboard box with 12 family members, working in a factory for 20c a day, thanks. ConfusedConfused

SleepingStandingUp · 17/04/2019 08:31

I have a friend who has a similar thought about souls choosing a body. I'm not really sure why someone chooses to live in a slum in abject poverty, and unsure how much say they seemingly get - like do they specifically choose those alcoholic abusive parents in order to learn something for their next life. Or do you just aim in a general direction? What happens if all the souls refused to go into the babies of abusive parents if we assume some prior knowledge?

aprarl · 17/04/2019 09:52

I suppose it's weird when you realise that some people believe complete bullshit.

aprarl · 17/04/2019 09:53

I don't just mean baby souls choosing which life they want, but all of it. God, religion. The idea that you can change sex. Conspiracy theories. You name it, some people wholeheartedly believe.

FredMerc · 17/04/2019 09:55

And it's even weirder that we have freedom to do so Grin

FredMerc · 17/04/2019 09:55

To think this way.....I meanSmile

aprarl · 17/04/2019 13:16

The concept of "freedom" is weird too. And the way people use it to justify bullshit.

Patroclus · 17/04/2019 13:45

Head hair.
