Why are there so few Minecraft clothes aimed at girls?

I don't mean it all has to be pink and frilly, but I mean the cut and style of Minecraft clothes for kids seems very aimed at boys. My daughter is 7 and recently got some Minecraft socks and was so thrilled with them. I wanted to get her a T shirt, but she doesn't really like black. In my family, 2 boys and 2 girls, everyone loves Minecraft equally. I don't get why it's seen as a boy thing.

Can anyone recommend some more girly T shirts or hoodies?

what about some of these

LL83 · 10/04/2019 10:12

I bought dd a tshirt at asda. Was in boys section but unisex if you ask me.

Doonhame · 10/04/2019 10:12

Mine have had red and white ones, from next and eBay I think.

LL83 · 10/04/2019 10:13

Tshirt was mainly grey, also have a red hoody from boys section again but unisex/girly if anything.

BlackCatSleeping · 10/04/2019 10:14

Thanks! I'm thinking, I'll just get her the first one in pink. It's the only one I've been able to find that she'll definitely like. I wish there were more though.

😘

I'd agree it's not seen by everyone as a boy thing but the colours of the clothes are definitely unisex and I suppose mirror lots of the colours seen in the game? I'm not sure how they can be more aimed at girls but still "look" like Minecraft? If she's not keen on black as a pp said many supermarkets may have options in green/blue.

Unfortunately due to how this stuff is merchandised aimed at boys Confused you will need to look in the boys section!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 10/04/2019 10:16

Eating my words! That pink T is ace!

sawyersfishbiscuits · 10/04/2019 10:18

I've seen lots. Well I feel like I have but I'm there going 'why can't I find DD clothes without bloody Minecraft etc on?'

Sorry op!

But I did see some in Primark and I think Asda.

Actually DS has one from the girls section with the mermaid sequins on. Bought a few months back.

Mrsjayy · 10/04/2019 10:19

Just let her choose from the boys section it was pokemon when my Dd was that age she wore boys t shirts fwiw I see your point it is ridiculous these character clothes are seen as just for boys.

araiwa · 10/04/2019 10:25

Apparently its because you didnt look Confused

WingBingo · 10/04/2019 10:29

It is a bit ironic that the implication that minecraft is just for boys when the colour choices available are just for boys (in your opinion)

Why can’t girls wear grey or green?

ItsAllGone19 · 10/04/2019 10:30

[Minecraft Girls T-Shirt Purple Age 8 to 9 Years www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GWS5TKW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6DBRCbZMA33DP?tag=mumsnetforu03-21]

My daughter loves this one...but to be honest she's also perfectly happy in the "boys" stuff too.

HelloDoris · 10/04/2019 10:36

I have found it very hard to find girls minecraft/pokemon clothes in highstreet shops, Amazon is your friend.. mind you I'm lucky that my daughter is the ultimate emo at 8 and loves dark colours so black/grey/dark green is all suitable for her. We have the pink T-shirt and the nightie and she does wear it occasionally. My problem is that if you do ever find these things in the girls section they are adulterated with sequins and glitter and my DD will just not have it.

BlackCatSleeping · 10/04/2019 10:43

Oh, wow, she would have loved this lama T-shirt, but it's sold out in larger sizes.

It's just her preference. Most of the Minecraft stuff seems to be black and green with weapons and creepers. She prefers softer colors, like pink and light blue, and things like the animals. That doesn't mean she is wrong. Minecraft encompasses a lot of different methods of game play.

I can’t see much difference in cut for children’s clothes tbh. I just looked at my DS’s and DD’s T-shirt’s, same size from H&M and there’s zero difference in cut so I would just buy from the ‘boys’ section.

WingBingo · 10/04/2019 10:52

Yeah that’s true op, I would have wanted softer colours at that age too, I was a bit quick with my opinion there.

Mrsjayy · 10/04/2019 10:56

The trend for superhero t shirts for girls tended to be cropped and fitted Dds still bought from the boys section.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 10/04/2019 11:04

I'll be honest and say at first I thought "But OP why does it have to be a girls colour?" too. As I'm not a fan of hugely gendered clothing.

However as you and I think Wingbingo said, it doesn't matter what colour she wears and if she prefers pink that's cool. And she should absolutely wear it. As i also did back then as did DD.

My irritation is more aimed at companies who only seem to make little girls buy the gendered, sparkly unicorn crap and don't recognise that's not every little girls thing.

Hope you find some shell like OP. My DD loved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for years and their merchandise is on the brighter colour side of unisex Smile

PositiveVibez · 10/04/2019 11:26

Same. I have also taken to buying her jeans from the 'boys' section.

There are a lot more with elasticated waists as she hates the feeling of anything restrictive. Plus the pockets are deeper.

The 'types' of jeans in the girls section are usually skinny and tight, which she hates.

Mrsjayy · 10/04/2019 11:33

Op Try Geekaboo and Forbidden planet for t shirts in different characters my dds are adults so I am not up on the minecraft thing but those shops sell lots of different chatacter ckothea

Mrsjayy · 10/04/2019 11:33

Bluewall · 10/04/2019 11:37

My DS just got a white one in Primark. They might even have some in their girls section I didn't look.
