To wish the CBeebies presenters would stop singing?

Oh my ears!! This trend of under-rehearsed random songs, written on the back of a fag packet, sung live by the ones who really can't sing and that puppet thing, has to end.

Sadly CBeebies house is no longer the escapist haven of musical joy it once was - but a torture chamber for my soul. Whatever happened to high standards? Where's the quality control? What happened to EDITING.

Sigh.

I’m from the north east and actually wrote to the bbc to complain about the terrible geordie stereotyping re: Gigglebiz. Of course I was wasting my time but glad to see others on here agree! I don’t mind Justin as mr tumble but I’m slightly weary of seeing the bbc let another middle aged posh male chubber take over another channel- if only the infinitely more talented women like Rebecca were granted those kind of privileges!

WeirdPookah · 06/01/2020 17:54

We just watch it on iplayer... no idea who presents any more!

hholiday · 06/01/2020 17:54

Oh, sorry I was very off topic re: my Justin rant but yes, re the singing - it was quite good last year - Katy, Rebecca and kat can all hold a tune and it looked a bit more produced. But this year - Evie doing solo warbling in a tv studio? No ta

The Baby Club is one of the worst things ever.

It’s bad enough actually having to attend baby classes, but to have one beamed into your living room (complete with bored adults pretending to have fun and oblivious/sleeping infants) is just beyond the pale.

Stayingstrong24 · 06/01/2020 18:08

I have a lot to thank Justin for.
He taught my non verbal child to sign.

Sara2017 · 04/03/2020 13:47

I loathe waffle the wonder dog an extremely badly behaved dog who talks and a over enthusiastic badly acting family whose lives revolve around his shit.

And no bing you fat bastard you didn’t felled over you fell over. Why are they teaching children wrong words?

And thanks Peter rabbit we get it a rabbit never gives up stfu and stop lying and stealing

And don’t get me started on the fucked up shit that is teletubbies and the other crap that starts around 6pm with a friggin baby on the moon and all the other weird shit that goes on

AsAnActualWoman · 04/03/2020 14:02

Poor Waffle Grin
We've banned Bing so the children don't start with that nonsense. I can't stand that bratty monkey on Tee and Mo but the children love it so I'm doomed.

daisypond · 04/03/2020 14:06

I think the singing is fine. They don’t have to be great singers, that’s the point - everyone can sing, and they’re encouraging the kids to sing. Likewise, dancing.

BigFatLiar · 04/03/2020 14:08

Children's telly has always been like that. Just think yourselves lucky not to have had to watch bungle, zippy etc in Rainbow (loved Salty Dog on milkshake though)

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 04/03/2020 14:08

God yes. I almost started a thread on this recently. It's horrendous. They keep trying to make them a bit funny aswell, but they're just not.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 04/03/2020 14:12

@Seeline

I remember Grin

Used to enjoy watching Hale and Pace .

Re CBeebies and Justin Fletcher

My youngest is now 16 and his brother 18 but when they were smaller my now 18 year old had just started at a pre school as he had speech problems at that time . They were taught Makaton . Needless to say he was a fan of Justin , as his brother was some years on.

Been a long time now since they watched .

Back then it was Peppa Pig, Something Special , Something House ? (also featured Justin and a woman named Sarah I think), Come Outside (I liked that one) , Ballamoray and one about a Scottish child minder , Aunt something .

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 04/03/2020 14:21

Along with Teletubbies and Tweenies and toward the end of their watching The Night Garden became a regular staple . I THINK it was on just before the Goodnight (or Bedtime) Song . The presenters also did not routinely break into song and dance.

skankingpiglet · 04/03/2020 14:29

My 3 and 5yo love Babyclub. They get their dollies from upstairs when it comes on, and sing along/tend to their babies like the proud pfb parents they are 😬 It's very cute.

Justin and the singing does grate when I catch it, but this is easily remedied by only putting Cbeebies on when I need a babysitter (and am therefore not in the room) 😉
For me it's the catchy stuff the kids mimic when not in front of the TV. They have been shouting 'BISCUIT BOTTOMS' in unison for 2.5 months now...

grizzlysky · 04/03/2020 14:30

i cannot hack the baby club the song where they go ‘tickle wickle tickle wickle’ actually drives me insane and i end up singing it for the rest of the day

mistermagpie · 04/03/2020 14:35

Baby club is AWFUL but my two and four year old love it! My actual baby on the hand, not so fussed.

I have a love/hate thing with Justin. My kids do love his shows, even gigglebiz which the two year old particularly adores, and there is nothing else like Something Special in terms of inclusivity and providing a platform and a space for children with additional needs. However, he's just so smug. I bet he's a right arse in real life.

We do default to CBeebies in this house though, I like that there are no adverts and no runs of the same programme in a row - one one of the others it's either non-stop Peppa or non-stop Paw Patrol.

  1. Bring back Sid

2)Hey Duggee Rules!

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 04/03/2020 14:54

Oh, how I wished DD was still little a few years later when she discovered The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (although I gave it airtime due to Carlton from Fresh Prince obviously needing to pay his mortgage),

The hotel manager? That’s not Carlton! Shock

JorahsMistress · 04/03/2020 15:04

@BritneyPeedOnALadybug i just came on to say that 😂 i don't know the actors name, but he played hooch in scrubs, he was crazy because JD & Turk were always winding him up

Mummyshark2019 · 04/03/2020 15:04

No. I love their singing.

AsAnActualWoman · 04/03/2020 15:05

Thanks to subtitles, I can safely tell you it's tickle, wiggle, tickle, wiggle @grizzlysky

Booksandwine80 · 04/03/2020 17:57

YABU.

That “puppet” is called Dodge Grin

grizzlysky · 04/03/2020 20:05

@AsAnActualWoman doesn’t make it any betterGrin

Itsnotthathard · 23/03/2021 15:38

Giggle biz is the best show by far. Gail force and author sleep 🤣 absolutely brilliant. Justin's a legend. Imagine being him, your job doesn't stop when you leave work, anywhere he goes there will be kids recognising him and he has to be "mr tumble" happy, kind and funny no matter the kind of day he's having or whatever is going on in his life. Personally I couldnt do it and definitely wouldn't sign myself up for that life so really I think he deserves a medal.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 23/03/2021 16:33

I agree, it's ear offending at the best of times.

However, you really aren't their target demographic, who do like that sort of thing for some reason.
