To ask if you felt different before labour?

I don't know if IABU as this is my first child but today/tonight I've just felt "different" in the sense that I feel I will give birth soon Confused

Never have I felt like this in pregnancy but today I've woken up and felt strange. Physically as well.

I've had odd twinges here and there all day on and off and my back has been incredibly sore. I can also barely walk, I don't know if baby's head is in pelvis or not? I haven't had a bloody show or any type of loss of mucus or anything though.

I'm so new to all of this and I just don't know what's going on but I feel so weird.

AIBU?

Crunchymum · 21/03/2019 22:00

What gestation are you?

Chilledout11 · 21/03/2019 22:00

I didn't feel different before mucus/show when I also had slight pains.

But It sounds like something is happening

talktoo · 21/03/2019 22:02

I didn't have a mucus plug that I found in any of my pregnancies. I still have no idea what one looks like!

mcjx · 21/03/2019 22:02

Sorry forgot to mention I'm 33 weeks now

Crunchymum · 21/03/2019 22:02

DC1 was late and I had no obvious signs, other than being 9 days overdue

DC2 was born the day after EDD, after a very quick labour. First sign was waters going.

DC3 was induced.

talktoo · 21/03/2019 22:03

Woah, just looked online. Nope. Never saw one with any of my 3 Confused

mcjx · 21/03/2019 22:05

I feel awfully worried and anxious now, I don't feel prepared if it did happen now Sad

OP posts:
SparklesandFlowers · 21/03/2019 22:11

I didn't feel any different. My waters broke before my EDD but I didn't know because I just saw blood (not a bloody show, though, it was like a period). Cue rush to MAU but they confirmed waters had gone. I had no idea, I felt perfectly normal right up until they induced me the next day.

Your bump going hard will just be Braxton Hicks. My bump would go tight for minutes at a time, perhaps a few times a day (that I noticed). It didn't mean anything. And you won't necessarily have a bloody show.

Don't feel worried. It sounds fairly normal for 33 weeks. Do you have your hospital bag packed? I found I felt much better once I had that ready because whatever happened, I could just grab it and go without worrying about not having disposable pants or a hat for the baby or whatever.

mcjx · 21/03/2019 22:14

@SparklesandFlowers no I don't have it packed, was due to do it this Saturday with my mum! Sad

OP posts:
shitpark · 21/03/2019 22:14

I felt uncontrollable irritability every time, then gave birth the next day.

mcjx · 21/03/2019 22:15

@shitpark I've been like that all day

Thistledew · 21/03/2019 22:18

I built a Renee Macintosh inspired wooden towel hanger in the 48 hours before I went into labour. May not be a particularly common indicator of impending delivery, I have to admit.

mcjx · 21/03/2019 22:18

@Thistledew 😂

With my youngest I was walking around ASDA saying to DH that I felt like my waters were going to break - they broke at the check out (and didn't get anything)

AJB3001 · 21/03/2019 22:24

I would just try and relax. When I went onto labour with DS2 in the days leading up to it I did feel different. I couldn't sleep on a night, generally really restless and things down there just felt odd hahaha but that was a week before my due date. The day before I went into labour I told my OH I was going to have the baby either the day after of the day after that. I did. I don't know what it was I just kind of knew....this was before any contractions. Contractions didn't start till 10am the next day and were slow to progress. Became regular at 3am the next morning. Baby was born at 2:46pm.

Just try stay calm but get prepared. If anything changes pain wise or movement wise call triage and get up there. Hope you're okay
Xx

SparklesandFlowers · 21/03/2019 22:24

Then put some spare pants, a toothbrush/paste, a few nappies and a baby outfit (including hat, mitts and blanket) in a bag. That'll see you through until Saturday. And unless you have a very quick labour, you'll probably have enough warning that you can spend 20 minutes putting in things like a snack and a book before you have to go anywhere.

And don't panic!! If the baby does come tonight and you're not ready it'll be fine - things can be bought and your mum can bring what you need if necessary, I'm sure. Just enjoy what could be your last relaxing child-free days Grin

mcjx · 21/03/2019 22:34

Thank you @AJB3001 and @SparklesandFlowers Thanks

I've managed to get comfortable in bed, I feel so tired like never before.

Baby is incredibly active tonight, has had hiccups then has moved loads - I have a mound on the right side of my bump underneath my ribs! It's very hard.

I wonder what part of his body it is?

Merryoldgoat · 21/03/2019 22:38

Head to John Lewis - if your waters break there you get a load of free stuff Grin

OneDayillSleep · 21/03/2019 22:40

I had signs both times, the twinges got more often over a couple of weeks, I could tell it was imminent (I had both my children at 39 weeks). I also had a complete and utter melt down/lose the plot type fallout with my husband over nothing both times. When I went psycho the second time my husband said to me are we having a baby later today/tomorrow then? We did! Oh and I was out shopping for things for the house both times when I realised it was starting, a sofa and wallpaper the first and curtains the second. It's like my nesting instincts tell me to go shopping!

Outnumb3red · 21/03/2019 22:41

With DC1 I lost my mucus plug. Ended up being induced 11 days late. No braxton hicks etc. So feeling of anything happening before hand.

DC2 I just felt weird for a few days, nothing that I could put my finger on. Had loads of braxton hicks with this pregnancy. Spontaneous labour 7 days after due date.

DC3 didn't feel any different in the lead up. Spontaneous labour on due date

mcjx · 21/03/2019 22:41

@OneDayillSleep how strange I have been out shopping today also! Grin

Might be TMI but I really felt like I needed to poo, went to the toilet and nothing happened Sad

OP posts:
Anothertempusername · 21/03/2019 23:03

Sounds a bit like baby has wriggled down into the head down position; the bump by your ribs is like babies bottom. You might feel more pressure down below now if baby has got itself in the head down position. Mine has been like that for 19 weeks now 😂
