Just that really. Curious to know what it’s taken for others.

OP posts:

Two.
Failed one in May and passed in the July. I'm sure it did me good to fail the first one, I've not had any problems in 21 years now.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 21/03/2019 16:38

10 lessons.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 21/03/2019 16:39

Do you mean tests Meglet?

NewAccount270219 · 21/03/2019 16:40

I had five months' worth of lessons, one every Saturday - so I guess that's about 20-25? I went out a lot to practice in between though, and it was 14 years ago and the test has got harder since then.

Everytimeiseeher · 21/03/2019 16:40

My partner passed in Dec. I tried to teach him a few months previous and he was really bad so we decided to save up for lessons. He had 15 in total including the two hours for the day if the test. However after he had 8 lessons and was comfortable I put him on my car insurance and he drove at any opportunity - i would say an equivalent of another 10 hours but I did Tahoe him how to do anything I merely sat and let him practise what he had in his previous lesson. Good luck!

FairyDogMother11 · 21/03/2019 16:42

I had about 60 hours in total but I was learning with someone I didn't get along with for the first 32 hours and she basically wasn't very good at her job, still isn't by all accounts. I had to stop anyway due to medical issues and then I had around the same amount of hours again with the instructor I passed 1st time with. Been driving for a year now and I still love it!

stacktherocks · 21/03/2019 16:42

I passed the third test after two years of lessons. Approx eighty lessons I reckon.

I didn’t have a car to practice in so I could only learn each week during the lesson.

I haven’t had a crash in twelve years, and I drove for a living for a few years. I’m a great driver. Don’t think length of time it takes to pass is much of an indicator of anything tbh, you get the odd outlier who had ten lessons and no practice and passed first time, but on the whole I think most people who passed quickly had parents to drive around with.

Driving isn’t easy to learn (it’s easy once you know how!) so I have respect for anyone who stuck it out long enough to pass. It’s crushing failing your test and then having to wait for anotherz

megletthesecond · 21/03/2019 16:44

barren yes, sorry. Not reading the thread title properly Blush.

My lessons were weekly for 9 months.

ChatNicknameAlreadyInUse · 21/03/2019 16:46

21 lessons.

37KAT · 21/03/2019 16:46

My DD has had about 42 hours so far... hasn't take her theory so can't book the test.
When we made enquires with instructors they all said it would be faster if she had access to drive a car.. she doesn't. It's expensive however it's all valuable experience.

ShirleyPhallus · 21/03/2019 16:48

I had about 45 hours of lessons.

Passed first time with one minor Smile

cranstonmanor · 21/03/2019 16:50

45? 46? Something like that. I bought some extra lessons when I reached 40 lessons. Passed the first time.

DramaAlpaca · 21/03/2019 16:51

I can't remember as it was years ago, but it was lots of lessons, two different instructors and three tests. I've been driving for 34 years now & am a very confident driver.

HarrysOwl · 21/03/2019 16:53

I started lessons when I was 17, had one a week and passed two days before my 18th.

So around 50 lessons, passed second time. (Passed theory test first time.)

Still feel as proud as the day I passed all those years ago!

ChoccyBiccyTastic · 21/03/2019 16:54

It's best not to count. Grin

First 10 were with a horrid man who put me off driving and made me a nervous wreck. Next 10 were with a new instructor, just undoing the damage.
2 with another new instructor as moved house. Didn't like him.
Gave up for 5 years.
DH bought me a car and gave me lessons himself- got me 90% of the way.
2 lessons, trying out new instructors.
8 lessons with lovely instructor
Test 1- failed
8 more lessons
Test 2- passed!!! Grin

BringOnTheScience · 21/03/2019 16:54

How long is a piece of string?! Some people take much longer than others. Some people have more opportunities to practice between lessons than others. Some people just get it quicker than others.

Dyspraxic DC1 is now in month 10 of weekly, sometimes twice weekly, lessons.

PortiaCastis · 21/03/2019 16:55

About 4 but my late Father used to let me drive his car a lot so I'd had plenty of practice when I took my test and passed at 17

JacquesHammer · 21/03/2019 16:56

Started learning with one lesson a week in October.

Passed beginning of April first time.

So I guess around 24 maybe?

Reddragonqueen · 21/03/2019 16:56

I think I had about 30 hours. Passed test first time

cadburyegg · 21/03/2019 16:58

2 hours a week for about 9 months so that’s about 70 hours of lessons! Like a pp said I didn’t have a car to practise in and I think that makes a huge difference. I passed first time and have been driving for 14 years now.

NotSorry · 21/03/2019 17:02

Dyspraxic DC1 is now in month 10 of weekly, sometimes twice weekly, lessons

bringonthescience my NT DC just passed this week and had 10 months of single and double lessons - my older 2, also NT, DC also had a similar amount of months of lessons before they passed. Try not to worry, I'm sure your DC will get there.

n0ne · 21/03/2019 17:02

55 lessons, a year and a half, passed on the 4th attempt Blush

malificent7 · 21/03/2019 17:03

About 1000,000

Juanbablo · 21/03/2019 17:08

About a million. I was learning for 15 months. I probably had 50 lessons and tests!!

thenightsky · 21/03/2019 17:11

Approx 20 to 24. One lesson per week from October 1985 to March 1986. Passed on April 3rd at first attempt.
