Boyfriends fishy smell (maybe TMI!)

Name changed (for obvious reasons!)
Possible TMI, sorry!

I can't remember how long this has been ongoing for.
When DP gets hard, I always get hit with this fishy smell. I've never, ever heard about this in males before but it's prominent when he has an erection.
He says he washes it multiple times a day. His hygiene is otherwise good.
It actually puts me off any sort of intimacy with him at the minute as although it's not a strong smell, it's still there and it's still offputting.
Every time I so much as think about bringing it up with him, I don't because I just feel awkward and cringe for him (and me!)

Any advice at all? Tried Googling to see what on earth could cause it but got a multitude of answers!!!

Sorry to be graphic but is there a chance he’s not cleaning under his foreskin in his daily washing?

FoxSquadKitten · 10/03/2019 22:59

Urine Infection?

Namechange8471 · 10/03/2019 23:00

Could be another woman's vaginal secretions op.

LTB just in case. ..

Dieu · 10/03/2019 23:00

Could it be dietary? In the same way that some men have funky smelling spunk?! 🤷‍♀️

PointlessUsername · 10/03/2019 23:00

Get him to see the GP?

ValeurNutritive · 10/03/2019 23:01

UTI, STD, IDK, C A GP.

Birdsgottafly · 10/03/2019 23:02

He needs to see a doctor. It's a sign of infection.

That's if he is cleaning himself properly.

You should have the confidence to bring it up with someone you're having sex with.

How long have you been together? My dh only ever smells musty at worst and that's only if he's not showered. It's never an offensive smell.

He must notice? May be suggest you both get tested for stds?

I hope you're using condoms.

mrwalkensir · 10/03/2019 23:06

could be a bacterial infection in the prostate - needs to get checked

gamerchick · 10/03/2019 23:10

Fishy can indicate a UTI a quick Google says.

Tbf if my husband smelled fishy despite washing I would be telling him and asking him to get it checked out. If you're being intimate with someone you should be able to talk to them about it. I'd expect the same in return. It's just another concern for health

Drogosnextwife · 10/03/2019 23:13

Are you sure he's washing properly?

Jupiters · 10/03/2019 23:15

There was a guy who recently went on embarrassing bodies for something similar. Turned out he never cleaned under his foreskin and that was causing the smell.

CruCru · 10/03/2019 23:28

To be fair, if he had a UTI, I'd expect it to be uncomfortable when he pissed.

Yes, he needs to see a GP.

Likethewind321 · 10/03/2019 23:44

Nice answer @Valeur Grin appreciative grin

Mmmhmmm · 10/03/2019 23:47

"ValeurNutritive

UTI, STD, IDK, C A GP."

I agree with this.

ViolaD77 · 11/03/2019 00:40

My friend was seeing a guy that had fishy smelling bits, it turned out he had chlamydia 😑

TinselAndKnickers · 11/03/2019 00:44

Washing it multiple times a day and it still smells of fish?! He needs to wash his willy properly Grin

Aquamarine1029 · 11/03/2019 00:56

That is absolutely disgusting. I wouldn't touch him or his nasty cock with a ten foot pole.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 11/03/2019 01:15

Infection... ? STD like chlamydia.

At best hes not cleaning his foreskin .

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 11/03/2019 01:18

It could also be thrush which causes fishy smell in men.

BusterGonad · 11/03/2019 01:55

Gross.

Nothinglefttochoose · 11/03/2019 04:20

Is he circumcised or not? If he’s not then he needs to pull his foreskin right back, wash it then dry it. If it still stinks the.ln he needs to go to the GP.

BusterGonad · 11/03/2019 05:39

Men need to get with the program and visit the doctor, if I stank of fish 24/7 I'd be getting myself to the doctors and sod the embarrassment of getting my vulva out, I was going to say vagina out but I know how MNetters don't like it being called that!
