To think DH should apologise to me?

In December I started looking up ways to make money “on the side”. I found a way to make money online, just an hour or so a day, no outlay, no bothering other people ... just easy money. Since December I have made £920.
DH wants nothing to do with it as he can’t be arsed to learn it but is chuffed with the profits made so far.
Yesterday I cocked up and lost £10 (taking my overall profit to £910). DH was cross and had a go at me asking what I was playing at and how did I manage to cock it up and lose money. He doesn’t even know the basics of what I do!! How can he criticise when he can’t even be arsed to learn the basics??

He’s come around now and admits that as we’re still £910 in profit he can’t complain but I’m so annoyed!! AIBU to want an apology for making me feel stupid and incompetent!?

YANBU

Piewife · 10/03/2019 19:50

Doesn't sound like that big a deal tbh. He's admitted he was wrong. Is it gambling?

MeltyTalented · 10/03/2019 19:50

YABU not to tell us what it is.

Crunchymum · 10/03/2019 19:52

Matched betting?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/03/2019 19:52

Matched betting?

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 10/03/2019 19:53

It'll be matched betting. Yanbu op, how dare he berate you over losing ten pounds of profit that you didn't have anyway, you haven't lost anything you just haven't gained that day! I'd be keeping this extra money to one side as a nest egg personally!

LellowYedbetter · 10/03/2019 19:56

It’s an issue because he made me feel like shit! When in reality I’ve earned us £910 more than we had before and by end of next week should be getting on for £1k.

This is such a nothing problem that I do wonder whether it's more of a stealth brag. I mean really why do you even care what your DH thinks about the 'loss' of £10 - why did you even tell him?
I can't fathom this at all. Stealth brag for sure.

LellowYedbetter · 10/03/2019 20:07

It might be nothing to you to have your husband slagging you off for one mistake but to me, it’s not nothing. And there is nothing to brag about considering none of you know me, what would be the point in bragging when nobody knows who I am?!

OP posts:
MummytoCSJH · 10/03/2019 20:08

Definitely a stealth brag Mma. What a non-problem 😂

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/03/2019 20:08

Maybe he’s worried you’ll start gambling.

thedisorganisedmum · 10/03/2019 20:09

well, maybe it made him realised that you could lose money, and a lot of it and he panicked.

PurpleDaisies · 10/03/2019 20:10

What is it?

LellowYedbetter · 10/03/2019 20:11

It’s matched betting.

The money I lost was money I made. It had no impact on our actual finances, it was simply £10 of profit lost

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/03/2019 20:12

Weird. Weird post.

PreseaCombatir · 10/03/2019 20:15

I know someone who does matched betting. Consumes so much of their time!

Limensoda · 10/03/2019 20:16

A non issue really.

Hoopaloop · 10/03/2019 20:17

Wow go you 🥔

Pengrin · 10/03/2019 20:18

Is this for recruitment?

trendingorange · 10/03/2019 20:20

Maybe your dh realises that the house always wins?

YesQueen · 10/03/2019 20:21

@Pengrin it's not a MLM type thing or that people recruit into Smile
I do it, and started via a google search and some blog posts!

LellowYedbetter · 10/03/2019 20:23

Recruiting would not benefit me in the slightest 😂 I specifically didn’t mention what it was in the OP as I didn’t want to come across like I was advertising it.

My issue is with DH who had a go at me for cocking up something which he can’t even do himself

OP posts:
Pinkbells · 10/03/2019 20:24

Mumsnet HQ, can we do away with these betting adverts, please? [hmm}

outreach29 · 10/03/2019 20:24

Sheeesh - how much did he have a go at you for losing a tenner? Maybe he's sick of hearing about it and doesn't want to learn it.

Good pickings to be had next week with Cheltenham - hope you've booked a week off work. You'll easily have over £1000 by the end of the week.

My suggestion is - don't talk about it to him - then he can't criticise...

Matched betting needs a new name, so people stop thinking you're actually gambling
