No more Bare Minerals!

Does anyone have any inside knowledge of this and AIBU to worry that it’s product safety!?
Just been to pick up more of my trusted Bare Minerals makeup to be told that the entire line has been withdrawn with immediate effect. Tried another shop, told same thing. Bare Minerals counter staff have been dismissed.

I have horrendous skin and used this for 15 years solid as it’s the only makeup not to worsen my acne. What on Earth. First world problem but what the hell is wrong with the product I’ve been inhaling for over a decade and what am I going to use!?

How to create panic!!

wowfudge · 26/02/2019 11:56

Shisheido, who bought the company the manufactures Bare Minerals, have closed a substantial number of stores. Google it - easy to find info. Nothing to do with safety or them going bust as far as I can see.

funnyfacestace · 26/02/2019 12:01

what stores did you visit that it was removed from?

AzureApps · 26/02/2019 12:05

I can’t see any evidence of this online, Debenhams and House of Fraser still stock it plus other usual outlets?

purpleelk · 26/02/2019 12:41

I’ve used them for decades (when I had to stockpile from the US as they didn’t sell them here) and I used the kabuki brush with the original powder formula.

A while back I switched to the much superior “beautiful finish brush” which made the foundation look much better applied than the kabuki brush.

Then, I bought their liquid foundation with the perfecting face brush set on sale. It was part of a pack with lipgloss and blush and was discounted In a tk maxx bargain so the entire thing cost the same as the blush stand alone.

Best discovery of decade. That brush is just magic! It works really well with the liquid foundation. I also use it with powdered foundation as I would a concealer, and it covers beautifully.

Their concealers are also ace. Much better than touché eclat for covering my dark circles

hastingsmua1 · 26/02/2019 12:45

If one of the stores was House of Fraser due to close, it may explain the discounted prices.

Harumph I really like the bareskin liquid foundation for lighter coverage in the summer. I apply with a beauty blender and use a sheer powder on top (I liked the BM hydrating mineral veil but think it's been discontinued).

Otherwise I use the original powder foundation (maybe you need a different brush?) and love the moxie plumping lipgloss. I don't do matte lips! The gen nude gloss is ok but tastes a bit funny! Have a couple of nice powder blushes too but I find them messy so don't use them much.

Ansumpasty · 26/02/2019 16:03

@Harumphharagh I’m very boring I’m afraid! Have oily, acne prone skin and so the Original foundation, warm and mineral veil are the only things I can use! Oh, and the tinted spf is AMAZING- I got married abroad and didn’t want to break out badly beforehand using sun creams and I never got a single spot.

If you are prone to acne, the matte is awful.

As an aside, a really great mineral make-up alternative is 'Lily Lilo' (google the website). I switched from BM to this because although I loved BM, when I had my mineral hair test done, my bismuth levels were off the chart high (i was using the mineral powder foundation and the powder blush at the time). Bismuth is a heavy metal and I didn't want to take the risk for my health long term.

Ansumpasty · 26/02/2019 16:59

@littlemimosa that’s scary! Will have a look at that makeup, thanks
