No more Bare Minerals!

Does anyone have any inside knowledge of this and AIBU to worry that it’s product safety!?
Just been to pick up more of my trusted Bare Minerals makeup to be told that the entire line has been withdrawn with immediate effect. Tried another shop, told same thing. Bare Minerals counter staff have been dismissed.

I have horrendous skin and used this for 15 years solid as it’s the only makeup not to worsen my acne. What on Earth. First world problem but what the hell is wrong with the product I’ve been inhaling for over a decade and what am I going to use!?

My local TK Maxx is always full of it, have a look there?

Ansumpasty · 26/02/2019 11:08

@AnchorDownDeepBreath

One was a skin clinic and the other place is attached to a hotel. Strange!

Which shops? Debenhams and Boots?

It could be that those two stores they are just closing their particular contract with this brand and closing their counters within their own stores, and won’t be selling that brand anymore.

That is not the same as the entire brand shutting down Wink

Ansumpasty · 26/02/2019 11:10

@MyBreadIsEggy

I wonder if they’ve pullled it from all small retailers and Debenhams and Boots now have monopoly of it? Just weird that the one beautician was flapping about it herself and gave details, etc!

Sounds like they are no longer approved stockists, so a business issue, rather than a product issue. If there was a problem with the product, they couldn't have sold it off at a reduced price.

What was the shop? Was it 2 branches of the same shop?

Ansumpasty · 26/02/2019 11:11

Of*

exwhyzed · 26/02/2019 11:11

This makes no sense.

I'm resisting really hard to not panic buy complexion rescue though Grin

Ansumpasty · 26/02/2019 11:12

@doIreallyneedto One was a skin clinic and the other was on the other side of town in a spa place attached to a hotel. Feel like a divvy if the lady has just misinformed me!

Wtf, really?

They stopped selling it in French shops a while ago, I wonder if they are closing the concessions or something like that?

It had better not disappear. IMO there is no better powder foundation!

Waterfallgirl · 26/02/2019 11:14

Hi op - my local beauty place sent a message out ages ago saying that Bare Minerals were going to stop supplying to the independent salons and concentrate on their larger retail side of things. This was ages ago, before Christmas I’m sure, so it’s likely to be that? Maybe the places you went to didn’t receive the message or had not planned well enough in advance. I’ll try to find the wording or link for you.

woolduvet · 26/02/2019 11:17

I use the original powder but fancy a change, has anyone moved onto one of their newer products?

MyBreadIsEggy · 26/02/2019 11:21

Waterfall swoops in and saves the day with that nugget of information! Thank you!!

I love Bare Minerals, literally the only thing that doesn’t send my skin crazy, I’d be panicking if the whole brand was done for!

icelollycraving · 26/02/2019 11:21

They still have online, larger retailers and are updating Instagram. The local boutique appears to be open. If it’s just a local spa I’d say they are probably just stopping their smaller contracts.
Where are they dismissing staff? Nothing online and I’ve heard nothing (my industry).
In terms of you panicking about what you have put on your skin?! Grin

Ansumpasty · 26/02/2019 11:29

@waterfallgirl phew, thank you!

Well I hope that helps someone- get to the small, independent places that used to stock it and you are likely to get a bargain. Got a big pot of warmth for £15 Grin

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/02/2019 11:30

Has the company gone into administration? Maybe you can still buy online?

HaventGotAllDay · 26/02/2019 11:33

Maybe the skin clinic and whathaveyou weren't paying BM for their products? Or weren't licensed to sell them?

Waterfallgirl · 26/02/2019 11:34

@Ansumpasty

Glad you got a bargain!
I can’t find the email they sent so can’t link to anything but I’m sure I remember it correctly.

Waterfallgirl · 26/02/2019 11:37

@MyBreadIsEggy

You are welcome- first time I’ve ever saved the day!

Faster · 26/02/2019 11:37

I was getting more and more stressed reading this thread til Waterfall saved the day!

OftenHangry · 26/02/2019 11:41

It's possible the contract finished and wasn't re negotiated

MrsJayy · 26/02/2019 11:43

Sounds like a franchise (or is a concession) problem rather than product panic over Grin

Harumphharagh · 26/02/2019 11:45

on the back of this, tell me your best BM products! was meh about the powder (all that buffing and still highlighted my pores) but thinking of repurchasing one as good for nose and t zone - plus have a matte lip colour that is the best colour I've ever tried.

what are their liquid foundations like?

anniehm · 26/02/2019 11:51

Was in Debenhams on Saturday, not sure if they are in all branches as this is a very big one

MrsJayy · 26/02/2019 11:51

My dd uses the liquid foundation she really rates it as a 20 something she has tried them all and the BM has been her favourite.
