To be upset he didn't get me anything?

I've got a feeling that this is going to sound really selfish, so please don't hesitate to give me a reality check.
DP went on a lads weekend away and just got back today. Had a great time, lots of drinking etc so really knackered now.
Got to bedtime and because he hadn't mentioned anything I asked so where's my present??? And he said oh I didn't get you one because I ran out of money. I don't know whether it's because I'm on my period but this upset me a lot. I always get everybody souvenirs and maybe it is wrong to expect one but the fact that he spent £500 over three days and not £3 could've gone on a little magnet or keyring for me does bother me.
Sounds a bit more pathetic now I've typed it out..

Did you ask him to bring you back something? I imagine it wasn't really a sightseeing trip!

Kindofnewtothis · 25/02/2019 21:49

My mum collects snow globes so asked for him to fetch one back if he came across one, he didn't. He said he went to gift shops but just didn't pick anything up Hmm

Yes, you are being unreasonable.

NCforthis2019 · 25/02/2019 21:51

Does he always buy you something normally? If I’m being honest it does sound a bit silly op, but if your upset, then you’re upset.

Wolfiefan · 25/02/2019 21:52

Was he somewhere really special or exotic? Confused
I wouldn’t expect a gift after a partner went away with mates for a weekend. I hate buying souvenirs and generally they’re tat I don’t want to receive either. (Though one relative has travelled to amazing places and brought back little but gorgeous and thoughtful items.)

Prisonbreak · 25/02/2019 21:52

This sounds very childish and petty. The £3 souvenirs are all tat anyway and collect dust. Why would you want that?

MrsEricBana · 25/02/2019 21:52

Sorry but I wouldn't expect a present from a trip like this. I'd forget it.

mollibu · 25/02/2019 21:53

Really Hmm YABVU...

I'm sure buying you a fridge magnet/ a key ring wasn't his top priority on a weekend away with his friends IMO.

CarrieBlu · 25/02/2019 21:53

I’m pretty sure that buying you a souvenir was probably the last thing on his mind during a lads weekend away! I’m afraid it sounds like you’re being a bit silly to me OP.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 25/02/2019 21:55

My DP will buy me something little when he goes away on work trips but wouldn't for something like this and I'd never expect him to.

Sorry OP, I think YABU

CarrieBlu · 25/02/2019 21:55

Also, I would stop bothering to get other people souvenirs. They might say they like them, but in reality they’re bits of tat that most people don’t want cluttering up their homes.

Bluntness100 · 25/02/2019 21:56

Why are you so upset about it? It's a bit of a ballache having to go buy folks shite and I would not expect it on a lads piss up.

KimchiLaLa · 25/02/2019 21:57

I love the thought of someone bringing something back for me but this clearly wasn't that sort of trip.

LostInShoebiz · 25/02/2019 21:57

Do you really want a £4 key ring from a place you’ve never been?

CalmdownJanet · 25/02/2019 21:58

Here, I have a spare grip, you can have it as a souvenir

thinking54 · 25/02/2019 21:58

Sorry op but yeah....give him a break! It's a lads weekend. He probably didn't step foot in anywhere but the pubs. Sorry but I do think you need to grow up abit here, he's really childish and clearly has upset you enough to post on here.

Bluntness100 · 25/02/2019 21:59

I certainly wouldn't expect him to by your mum s snow globe. You didn't really think that should happen on a lads weekend away did you ?

Hollowvictory · 25/02/2019 21:59

Yabu. How ri to be sad that someone didn't buy you a craooy fridge magnet.

Wolfiefan · 25/02/2019 22:00

Be glad he didn’t bring you home a dose of something nasty after his weekend away on the piss. Shock

Gizmo79 · 25/02/2019 22:01

Hmmm not sure. In two minds. Yes it would have been thoughtful of him to buy you a cheap gift, but he was on a lads break, which means he shouldn’t have to be worrying about bringing you back a present.

Not sure how I would feel as my DH doesn’t do the lads weekends away- his choice!!

dippydeedoo · 25/02/2019 22:01

I don’t think you’re being unreasonable if you’re usually so thoughtful but I wouldn’t expect anything however .... make him buy you something nice now he’s home.

Gizmo79 · 25/02/2019 22:02

Also- if you have that kind of spare cash- just buy yourself a treat!

Nicknacky · 25/02/2019 22:03

My husband goes away every year with his pals for the weekend, I only expect something if it’s coincided when I have ran out of gin or my perfume and he can buy it in duty free on the way home.

Likewise I don’t buy him anything when I’m away. I buy myself a memento but that’s because I have been there and have the memories.

PeachRose · 25/02/2019 22:04

How long have you been together? I'm asking this because does he know you well enough to know you'd be upset not to receive anything if so then YANBU. I wouldn't expect anything but that's just me. The thing is when lads do weekends away they forget stuff and some men don't want to be seen buying souvenirs for their girlfriends because it's just not cool I suppose.
