A stick hoover that blimming works?!

AIBU to ask if you have found such a thing? My Miele normal vacuum cleaner is so powerful it almost pulls the carpet off the floor. It is incredibly good.

I need a stick one for quick in between cleans of my (annoyingly light coloured) carpets and my (annoyingly light coloured) kitchen floor. I got a Morphy Richards supervac cordless one that was so low powered, it could barely suck up anything at all. I gave it away to someone for free in a fit of disgust.

I am therefore hesitant to get another stick one but wonder has anyone found one that has actual proper power? I don't want to always have to drag the Miele one around and up and down stairs.

Dyson V10. It is a marvellous invention.

Onepuddingisneverenough · 22/02/2019 14:48

We have a shark power lift cordless
It’s amazing!
Lightweight and really good at picking up
The battery life is great too

hairylemons · 22/02/2019 14:50

Ooh thank you both. I have looked at these but wondered what if they are like the supervac? And just have a weak suction? The Miele is insanely strong. Would the Dyson or Shark pull bits of fluff out of carpet pile?
I realise how sad this thread sounds but a stick hoover that could really work would really help me out!

I have a Vax Blade and it's amazing. Battery doesn't last very long. But I can oversee that for how good it is.

Lou0390 · 22/02/2019 14:53

I got a shark last week and it's amazing! My carpets look brand new and it's great on my tilled kitchen. I love hoovering now, sad I know Grin

catlady3 · 22/02/2019 14:55

Second the Shark, I've got the animal version with a flexy stick that can go all the way under the couch / bed and a "liftaway" option so it's a handheld as well. The only thing I don't like about it (and this is a very minor gripe) is that it won't stand up by itself, you have to fold it over. I also have a Bosch Athlete which isn't as good for using as a handheld or for getting under things, but it's very powerful, lasts longer than the Shark and stands on its own.

QuirkyQuark · 22/02/2019 14:56

Yep the Dyson gets everything out. It has got tremendous suction and can do the whole of my house, 3 bed 3 storey on medium power on one charge.

Jupiter15 · 22/02/2019 14:56

Dyson V8 absolute is fab. Although I would love the V10 now!

hairylemons · 22/02/2019 15:00

Thank you all, I will go and look at prices for both on Amazon. The troubling thing is that the supervac had good reviews on Amazon! And I'm wary of making the same mistake twice.

Love my shark it was an Argos exclusive type thing so cheaper at £179 I think, but it's our only hoover. Only two of us though no pets. Much better than the vax I had previously.

Queenie8 · 22/02/2019 15:38

I have the shark duo flexology. It is by far the best vac I've ever had.

squeefy · 22/02/2019 15:57

dyson. has fab suction. used a henry at centerparcs and next doors.....utterly shite in comparison!

squeefy · 22/02/2019 15:59

mines just a "cheap" dyson ball multifloor. not cheap, but in relation to other dysons cheaperrrrr!

SoupDragon · 22/02/2019 16:00

I have a Shark cordless and it's amazing. Puts my old Dyson Animal to shame.

SoupDragon · 22/02/2019 16:01

I've got the animal version with a flexy stick that can go all the way under the couch / bed and a "liftaway" option so it's a handheld as well.

That's what I have, with two battery packs. It's my only vacuum cleaner now.

catlady3 · 22/02/2019 18:45

SoupDragon I think that's the way to go, flexology shark with two packs. That's what I'd get if I were starting from scratch.

OP worth checking sites besides Amazon, my DP found the shark almost 100 quid cheaper elsewhere. And extra battery is around 60 to 65 on Amazon so worth checking if it's cheaper to get one with one battery and adding on, if you think you might need two.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 22/02/2019 21:58

I have the Shark duoclean with two battery packs, and it was fucking expensive. It is good, but the filters are forever clogging up with dust, so I'm having to bash them out every other Hoover. Maybe I've just got a really filthy house Blush

SlangBack · 22/02/2019 22:01

Shark
Shark
Shark

I wash my filters.

RuggyPeg · 22/02/2019 22:02

One of the dysons - V6, 7 or 10 (battery life better on each successive one). They're game changers!

keepingbees · 22/02/2019 22:13

I have the Dyson v6 and it's rubbish. Suction is poor, even with filters cleaned regularly, and so weak through the nozzle attachments it's not even worth using with them

zod1ac19 · 22/02/2019 22:19

Dyson V10 is amazing. We bought the cheaper animal one at £400, comes with less accessories but no need for any more.

A life changer for us as we will just quickly grab it to hoover a patch whereas we’d have never got the upright dyson out for little bits.

Three auction levels, we use low power for most things but medium and super power are very powerful.

Does the used bits of our 5 bed house on one charge.

Which beat buy.

InSpaceNooneCanHearYouScream · 22/02/2019 22:19

Yes slang I wash my filters once a month too as recommended, but I still have to bash a ton of dust out of them every other hoover too Angry

ChesterGreySideboard · 22/02/2019 22:20

I love my shark.
I love it hard!

Onynx · 22/02/2019 22:22

I have a Miele bagless and a Dyson V10. The Miele has not been used since the Dyson arrived. Literally life-changing! Can do whole 4 bed house (including over door-frames) on one charge. Scary what it pulls from the carpets!! If it broke I would replace it asap. Also I have a v painful back & this is just so easy & light. I love it -just in case that wasn't clear 😂😂

fruityb · 22/02/2019 22:28

I have a Dyson V6 animal and love it. Hoovers up after our cat well and the sheer amount of crap in the cylinder some days is both fascinating and shameful!
