Nc’d For this...So a myself and few friends (all in mid 30’s) decided to go to a concert this year (think boyband 😂) it’s in a city we don’t live in. So tickets are booked since last year and the concert is in the summer. We were chatting via fb (we live in different cities too) but all equidistant to city where concert is held! Anyway... we decided we must book the hotel for the night. So we’re looking and posting different hotel options and there were s few options. Obviously we want the best deal so we’re sifting through the hotels when someone suggests s hotel that actually only books a max of 3 per room, to which I say “but there are 4 of us?” The response was “oh yes but we can sneak in the 4th, they’ll never know!” Aibu to think we are too old to be sneaking around fucking hotels at 35 years of age?? I said NO WAY, because how would we decide who is the 4th person? How much would “4th person” ? Surely not the same as other 3!! And what if we got caught!?where would 4th person go?? Others are all exclaiming st the price of other hotels (average 100-130 each) I just feel like, we NEVER do this it’s a once off lets spend some money and have fun!
For the record we all have DC so all pretty much in the same boat financially? Plus we have 5 months to save from now if it’s a matter of saving!AIBU?

Im with you OP defo book for all of you. What would happen at breakfast when 4 of you turn up instead of three lol. Treat yourself as you say as you say it's a one off. Enjoy the concert.

DonPablo · 19/02/2019 20:20

Eugh, although, thinking about it, I'd happily be the fourth person and book my own room to save sharing-it's the sharing I'm too old for!

DevaDiva · 19/02/2019 20:23

YANBU that kind of shit does my head in and there's no way I would be sleeping on the floor or sharing a single bed. It would put a total downer on the whole event.

Hecketyheck · 19/02/2019 20:23

AirBnB is your friend. Get an apartment/house for 4 - it will work out much cheaper than a hotel for 4. And yes, you are way too old for —boy bands — sneaking around in hotels.

JasperKarat · 19/02/2019 20:24

Can you get an air BnB instead?

16again · 19/02/2019 20:26

@Hecketyheck oh I know 😭😂😂 although it’s all about the night out for me!! I was hoping a nice hotel, a mooch around the shops a nice dinner somewhere beforehand to counteract the “boyband” 😂😂

Book a room for yourself and other 3 can sneak around for their jollies if it amuses them.

16again · 19/02/2019 20:35

Will check out. Air bnb thanks

DonPablo me too I'm too old to want to share with anyone - I like my own space!

Monkeybusiness2 · 19/02/2019 20:46

I'm 38 and had my fair share of fun in my 20's. But I'd be too embarrassed to do that now. Sounds pretty childish especially when you all have your own kids too!

ForalltheSaints · 19/02/2019 20:47

No way would I have done that at the OPs age. Seems penny pinching.

billybagpuss · 19/02/2019 20:48

Take that? and yes try airbnb

EnglishRose13 · 19/02/2019 20:48

Backstreet Boys?

KrazyKatlady · 19/02/2019 20:48

some of my DHs cheapskate mates did this for our wedding. I think actually 4 of them had a twin room. Their deal was you got bed OR breakfast, so the ones that slept on the floor got breakfast!!

Weezol · 19/02/2019 20:50

I'm in my forties and started booking my own room for group trips in my twenties - I can't be having with a load of faff and trying to keep everyone happy.

mineofuselessinformation · 19/02/2019 20:50

Who wants to pay to sleep on the floor?
Or does one of you go free and breakfastless? Hmm

mineofuselessinformation · 19/02/2019 20:50

.. I'm with you, OP.

billybagpuss · 19/02/2019 20:51

and to be honest, I have 15 years on you and the means to not have to, but would go with the flow if others wanted to. Sounds fun :)

JustLurkingAway · 19/02/2019 20:52

Westlife?! I'm going to 2 of their shows back to back & the hotel for 2 nights is costing a bloody fortune! Still wouldn't sneak someone in thoughGrin

seastargirl · 19/02/2019 20:56

Having worked for a couple of high standard hotels, it's often common place to have people on the doors at night checking room numbers and names, especially if there are big concerts /events that may attract the hen/stag clientele. So no I wouldn't be risking it.

Look for serviced apartments or aparthotels though, you might have some luck with them.

Boom45 · 19/02/2019 20:57

My husband's friends from uni were coming to our city for a festival a couple of years ago amd wanted to all sleep on the floor of our living room. In our 20s I was fine with this but these people are in their late 30s/ early 40s now, with plenty of disposable income and we have small children. I said no. I did feel a bit mean but even without the fact they'd be piling in probably hammered at stupid o'clock i sort of think there's is an age limit to sleeping on floors when its not an emergancy of somekind.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/02/2019 21:02

Nope wouldn’t be happening. Book a single for yourself. Let the others share.

yearinyearout · 19/02/2019 21:08

Get an airBNB apartment.

Gbarmy · 19/02/2019 21:14

Ooh no, it's a fab excuse for a bit of child free treat time in a decent hotel. There comes an age when comfort is far more important than saving a few bob. Never too old for a boy band though. I'm almost 50, and am seeing Take That for the 8th time this year, can't bloody wait.

BellamyBlake · 19/02/2019 21:15

I did this with my friends once in our early 20's. When we got back to the hotel at 3am nicely drunk there was bouncers on the door and they would only let the names guests in. Unless I paid £90! Else I was left on the street at 3am in December miles from home.
I think you should book the correct number of rooms. Or book yourself one and let them get on with it!
