I don't like waste but I am defrosting my freezer and have found all 32 frozen bananas.

There is only so much banana bread and a banana ice cream a girl can eat.

AIBU to consider just throwing them all in the bin?

Do you have something against bananas? Seriously stop buying the poor buggers as clearly you just send them to the freezer graveyard Sad

Yes bin them, I would

EstrellaDamn · 19/02/2019 12:25

Bleurgh. Bin!

importantkath · 19/02/2019 12:28

Hahaha @PinkHeart5914 I can see why you would think that. I have four DC and they eat so many, (one a day at least) but sometimes they get overlooked, so I fling them in the freezer for smoothies/banana bread.

However, I haven't baked for a while...

Iv never known of freezing bananas..
Chuck them away..🤢

DamonSalvatoresDinner · 19/02/2019 12:35

Bake a whole load of banana bread, drop a loaf off at all your neighbour's houses, become beloved in your area and you'll never be short of a favour from your neighbours when needed!

Or bake the bread, freeze it and have a forever supply of banana loaf.

mumof2oneofeach · 19/02/2019 12:37

I have some in my freezer too. May I ask how you make bread with them? Do you defrost them? Sorry that's probably daft to ask!

burritofan · 19/02/2019 12:38

Don't bin them! Put them on the compost. Or give them to a neighbour who grows roses.

30birthdayholiday · 19/02/2019 12:39

Think you can make banana ice cream with them?

MissTook · 19/02/2019 12:40

Frozen bananas are fine.
Whizz them up with some cream for banana ice cream.

torthecatlady · 19/02/2019 12:43

Make smoothies or banana pancakes with them? If You don't want to eat them, try putting in your compost?

halfwitpicker · 19/02/2019 12:44

Nooooooo!

Keep some frozen for more banana bread!

See if you can put them on the olio app.

Or make banana bread and put that on there.

What is OLIO?
OLIO connects neighbours with each other and with local businesses so surplus food can be shared, not thrown away. This could be food nearing its sell-by date in local stores, spare home-grown vegetables, bread from your baker, or the groceries in your fridge when you go away. For your convenience, OLIO can also be used for non-food household items too.

OLIO is super easy! To make an item available, simply open the app, add a photo, description, and when and where the item is available for pick-up.

To access items, simply browse the listings available near you, request whatever takes your fancy and arrange a pick-up via private messaging.

Here at OLIO we believe that small actions can lead to big change. Collectively – one rescued cupcake, carrot or bottle of lotion at a time – we can build a more sustainable future where our most precious resources are shared, not thrown away. Join today!

SaturdayNext · 19/02/2019 12:53

JellyBellies · 19/02/2019 12:55

No, no. Make banana bread. Use the bbc good food recipe turns out amazing!

dementedpixie · 19/02/2019 12:57

I made a nice banana loaf yesterday using a Mary Berry recipe. It only used 2 bananas though

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/02/2019 12:59

Are you sure those are bananas, Mrs Bobbit?

Whatever their provenance . . . destroy them. No-one is so hungry or nutritionally challenged that they need to consume. . . those.

motheroftwoboys · 19/02/2019 13:01

I always have frozen bananas in my freezer. doesn't everyone? Smile yes - banana bread and banana ice cream as mentioned but I usually use mine for breakfast muffins with sultanas and a few nuts. Delicious. For those that don't know. They defrost really quickly when you take them out. Just cut the tops off and squeeze the middle out like toothpaste.

Crunchymum · 19/02/2019 13:01

You have a whole freezer drawer for bananas???? 🍌

Sparklingbrook · 19/02/2019 13:02

In the bin.

dementedpixie · 19/02/2019 13:02

mumof2oneofeach · 19/02/2019 13:05
