That Meghan Markle should be left alone?

Perhaps this subject has been discussed on here already, but every day I open my social media account I get something about Meghan Markle, honestly every single day, from different news media. Everyone seems to know how she is, what she’s up to besides her work or her supposed attention seeking, or whether she is chased or vilified by the media too much or too little. Or whether she should get on with it or she should keep her head down or up. Honestly, leave the woman alone! She’s pregnant and doing a lot of good work, besides being married to s Royal, leave her alone fgs!

I don’t particularly like her or dislike her, but I have a lot of sympathy for her now seeing how the media is treating her. Just a rant, sorry!

So, leave her alone! You don't need to follow those accounts or post about her here.

Weightsandmeasures · 14/02/2019 19:51

I agree. The media and social media should leave her alone. It's abusive and the obsession with her will lead to disaster. It's so unfair the way she is vilified.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 14/02/2019 19:53

Yanbu.

But the worst offenders are the Daily Mail who have been around for donkeys years. It's not a new thing, unfortunately.

WinterfellWench · 14/02/2019 19:53

I do agree. And I do like Meghan! But this is probably the 10th thread I have read like this this year. Confused

BifsWif · 14/02/2019 19:54

YANBU.

Cerseirys · 14/02/2019 19:56

YANBU OP but it won't be long before posters pile onto this thread to claim she's narcissistic/attention-seeking/fake and deserves all she gets etc etc!

Cheekymonkey1234 · 14/02/2019 20:08

@bibbitybobbityyhat and I don’t even follow the Daily Mail

OP posts:
LizzieSiddal · 14/02/2019 20:12

I agree, I feel immensely sorry for her.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 14/02/2019 20:15

But you’refollowing the suit by discussing her Confused

fibonaccisequins · 14/02/2019 20:22

Oh I agree! I think Meghan Markle and Catherine Middleton are women in very strange situations. As a woman who is very different to the woman who's married to dh's brother (still with me?? Grin) I fully understand that 2 women don't have to be bosom buddies just because they're married to brothers. Doesn't mean we don't get on. And the papers don't care if if we do or not!

BartonHollow · 14/02/2019 20:29

I have found on this forum that people will even find a way to bash her or bring her into it if the thread isn't even about her

I think it's bigotry wrapped in classism wrapped in dripping envy

MorningRichie · 15/02/2019 14:09

She gets off lightly.

The Daily Mail and Daily Express don't go after her they say they would if she wasn't "Royal".

Look at her honestly - she's a mixed race immigrant who is having a child here whilst the tax payer is funding her lifestyle. The aforementioned disgusting rags would normally go to town on someone with that description.

NB, I'm not bashing her, but the description is accurate and not meant pejoratively but to demonstrate the sheer hypocrisy of the press and that she doesn't get it as bad as she could.

QuintadiMalago · 15/02/2019 14:14

Morning Richie
So you post about her, describe her in scathing language and think it's ok because you add, I'm not bashing her.

Limensoda · 15/02/2019 14:17

People will leave her alone when she leaves them alone Grin
It's always going to happen with people in the public eye. Some will adore her and fawn over her and others will be having a go at her. She must have been well prepared for it.

MorningRichie · 15/02/2019 14:22

What is scathing?

Was she born here? No, she migrated so is an immigrant.

Is she mixed race? Yes she is.

Will the taxpayer be funding her lifestyle and her offspring? Yes they will.

My point was they are all traits that that particular segment of the press take great enjoyment out of vilifying.

So what is scathing about that? Maybe you should learn to read
and understand things properly. After your performance on the MIL thread recently, I appreciate this may be difficult for you.

ineedtostopgooglingsymptoms · 15/02/2019 14:34

I think i've seen more LEAVE MEGHAN ALONE threads than ones slagging her off Hmm

MissQuad · 15/02/2019 14:37

Leave her alone. Starting with this post Confused

Bombardier25966 · 15/02/2019 14:47

@QuintadiMalago You've completely misread Morning's post.

QuintadiMalago · 15/02/2019 15:12

BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 15:51

That's because the ones that slag her off usually have content so horrifying the thread gets pulled

FirstOfHerName · 17/02/2019 12:35

Members of the royal family marrying immigrants is hardly a new thing - the Queen and some of her cousins did, and prior to that the monarchs pretty much always took foreign brides!

EdWinchester · 17/02/2019 12:42

Yes, leave her alone.

I just don't understand the nastiness about her and Kate seems to get off scot free. At least Meghan made something of herself before marriage.

They are both women who have married for love and are making the best stab at a strange and somewhat silly life.

Amanduh · 17/02/2019 12:46

Kate seems to get off scot free? Are you insane? She’s had years of incessant hatred towards her.

AldiProsecco · 17/02/2019 12:49

I agree, she couldn't really have imagined that this was going to result in her having to cut her father off entirely and I do not blame her, she has no choice, he is a drunken narcissistic idiot.

Kate did not get off scot free. She is accepted now there's a new scapegoat.

shartsi · 17/02/2019 12:49

MorningRichie, what about her husband? She is not having the tax payer subsidised child by herself is she?
