... that totally rubs you up the wrong way. I mean, they might be a perfectly lovely person, but there’s something about their face that makes you want to punch them.

Take Keira Knightly for example.

I appreciate she is beautiful, that’s not the issue, it’s just something about her face that I find so irritating.

Perez Hilton. Very annoying face.

There’s a few more that I can’t recall right now but AIBU?

Yes

MmaMakutsi · 14/02/2019 19:42

Adrian Chiles

😂

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 14/02/2019 19:44

Perhaps it’s their character? But Adrian Chiles. Yes.

Ed Sheeran. l can't look at him.

Mmmhmmokdear · 14/02/2019 19:46

I think it's that thing where nasty people's nasty thoughts show on their faces a la "The Twits" and you become kind of "off" looking to people. I think it's a genuine thing.

Bezalelle · 14/02/2019 19:50

The French have a good term for this - "tête-à-claque", loosely translated as "a face that needs a slap".

RoboticSealpup · 14/02/2019 19:50

I hear this Keira Knightley thing so often! I don't get it as I really like her.

For me it's Holly Willoughby. She looks really, really smug. I don't watch any of the stuff she's in, though, so I've only ever seen her in pictures.

EthelFechan · 14/02/2019 19:54

Phillip Schofield.
Simon Cowell.

Blompitude · 14/02/2019 19:55

Helen Skelton.

Calloway · 14/02/2019 19:55

Matthew Wright. Congrats on the baby etc etc but what a fizzog he has!

It's gormless mixed with smug. Frank Spencer with the self assurance of a useless Tory backbencher. (and covered in foundation)

I know what you mean about Keira Knightley. She has this weird thing she does with her nose that kind of pushes her top lip out and makes it look like she's pouting all the time.

But I saw her on a talk show a couple of years ago and she came across as quite lovely and down to earth so then I felt bad.

Claudia Winkleman and her stupid fringe on the other hand...whenever she's on telly, I just sit there blinking furiously. It's like I can feel her hair getting in my own eyes.

Fluffyears · 14/02/2019 19:58

Keira knightley, holly willoughby, bloody James Corden-stop shouting you utter bellend, Donald trump, David Cameron and his daft wife, a horrible girl in my office, a particular ticket examiner at a station nearby, my next door neighbour....wow I hate people!

PuddingsAreMyJam · 14/02/2019 19:58

@Calloway that's reminded me of something I saw on Twitter. The stuff of nightmares.

Calloway · 14/02/2019 19:58

I don't like Keira Knightley's acting a whole lot (always seems quite samey) but she seems cool in interviews and I like her style. She does come in for a weird amount of hate.

Qcng · 14/02/2019 20:01

I'm not shallow, so don't get this at all.

I'm fairly neutral in my opinion all people (even in terms of how attractive I find them) until they talk, say something about themselves and I get a sense of who they are. Then things will come together in a flash.

(I probably have a slappable face).

friendlyflicka · 14/02/2019 20:02

Stella Macartney

prettypossums · 14/02/2019 20:02

Meghan Markle, John Bercow

SoftPlant · 14/02/2019 20:02

Piers Morgan. A tête-à-claque if there ever was one...

friendlyflicka · 14/02/2019 20:02

And Princess Kate. I don't want to think that about her, I just find her face really annoying.

Qcng · 14/02/2019 20:04

Mind you, Nicole Kidman, I think I couldn't stand before I ever heard her speak.
Same with Anna Friel. It's like, I could just tell.

dontticklethetoad · 14/02/2019 20:04

Yes Stella McCartney!

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 14/02/2019 20:05

‘tête-à-claque’ I love it!

Deadringer · 14/02/2019 20:10

Oh Calliway that first picture, that's a face that needs a slap all right, and to think that is posed and airbrushed, imagine how he would appear irl! And yes to Piers Morgan, and Mr smug himself, James Corden.

hazandduck · 14/02/2019 20:10

Ok so none of the people above annoy me but this is definitely a thing, some people’s faces just make me want to throw something. Mine are Kate Garroway (her voice too urgh), the president from Independence Day, and Billy Crystal. No idea why. Just hate their eyes!

turncloak · 14/02/2019 20:12

I'm not shallow, so don't get this at all.

Goodness, please be careful up there on your high horse. It''s a long way down.

Ed Sheeran for me. He looks like he needs a good slap.

I used to feel the same way about Keira Knightly's face OP, but the feelings have mellowed of late. Perhaps because she's not so prevalent in the media these days?
