What is it about certain people’s faces..

... that totally rubs you up the wrong way. I mean, they might be a perfectly lovely person, but there’s something about their face that makes you want to punch them.

Take Keira Knightly for example.

I appreciate she is beautiful, that’s not the issue, it’s just something about her face that I find so irritating.

Perez Hilton. Very annoying face.

There’s a few more that I can’t recall right now but AIBU?

I’ve just found another one. A woman, won’t say which one, in one of the MN videos on the right of my screen. Highly claquable.

SayMehToTheDress · 18/02/2019 11:08

Yes, most normal people will view it that way because they understand what is is to speak with humour.

If you have to get personal about the way people look in order to get a laugh, then you are not actually funny. Making fun of Jamie Oliver's mouth and tongue, Kiera Knightleys jaw, people's lopsided smiles and slanted eyes....just personal, not funny. I do know people who would laugh at people's personal appearance and think it's funny to call people punchable or slappable, they're not people I choose to be around. Its like comedians that have to use shocking jokes, its all a bit desperate to get a 'laugh'.

I presume you are all ok if your children get picked on for any imperfections and get told they have a slappable face ....or have they all got perfect features from their perfect parents. Maybe put your photos up and we can decided how slappable your face is and scrutinise your features.

StoneofDestiny · 18/02/2019 14:10

SayMeh - that's a pretty selective interpretation of the comments and the OP's original post. I get no interpretation that OP was suggesting bullying or literally slapping anybody, you've made one giant leap to that imho...........I understood the meaning 'of a face that needs to be slapped' is the equivalent of what teachers of old used to say to smirking pupils 'I'll wipe that look off your face' - more to do with smug/sneers expressions rather than any facial imperfection and with no intention to bodily abuse the pupil in question.
(Though I dare say nowadays a teacher would be sued for using that expression regardless of their intent!)

RedForShort · 18/02/2019 14:22

Hold the phone, what the heck is this insanity 'transvestigations'?

Not only is it the thinking of the deranged that it occurs at such a high rate, but why does it seem to be nearly exclusively women who are victims of this? (Pretty sure I know the answer to that one mind you.)

Smotheroffive · 18/02/2019 14:58

'I'll wipe that look off your face' Stone

Oh the irony that you can't see what a threat and intimidation that is, especially coming from an adult in authority, its also used by abusive men to intimidate 'their women and dc'

You think that's all good though. Confused

StoneofDestiny · 18/02/2019 15:45

Smother - Who said I can't understand it! Wow. Who said 'that's all good'. Stop putting words in my mouth - that is bullying!

They key here is words and context and the changing use of words and their use over time.

thecatsarecrazy · 18/02/2019 16:12

I think i just give off that vibe. I know i have a miserable looking face. I'm the person nobody wants to talk to in a room full of people.

JaneJeffer · 18/02/2019 16:21

Fake news Smother

SpringForEver · 18/02/2019 18:19

The end of a thread that most people found amusing....

I have a face that people would like to slap or punch, in fact when I look in a mirror I am tempted to do it myself. I do not have the only face I would like to slap or punch, it is my view and I am entitled to it.

FrameyMcFrame · 18/02/2019 18:24

I think my face is like that!

People randomly dislike me.

But maybe I'm just a twat and haven't realised.

StoneofDestiny · 18/02/2019 18:48

Spring and Framey - keep smiling!

What is it about certain people’s faces..
TooManyPaws · 18/02/2019 21:10

RedForShort according to one bonkers video, Harry and William are both F to M because of too close set eyes and because Harry's hands are too white while his face is pink. Kate and Meghan are both M to F because Kate doesn't have enough curve to her hips and gods know why about Meghan....

Thankssomuch · 18/02/2019 21:20

The lead singer from The Beautiful South. Can’t look or listen to him. James Corden. David Williams.

Smotheroffive · 18/02/2019 22:31

Just my words to describe how you support this, so no, not bullying at all. You actually did make it clear that its all good as far as you're concerned, so I'm not saying anything new! It's what you are actually saying.

But you actually did say I'll wipe that smile off your face

Whats fake news janejeffer ?

JaneJeffer · 18/02/2019 22:40

"I understood the meaning 'of a face that needs to be slapped' is the equivalent of what teachers of old used to say to smirking pupils 'I'll wipe that look off your face' " is what Stone said not 'I'll wipe that look off your face' as you selectively quoted.

Smotheroffive · 18/02/2019 23:00

I don't understand what you've said there at all, because I simply repeated what had been quoted, as the two being the same thing.

They are threats, and I thought that was quite a comparison to draw.

Smotheroffive · 18/02/2019 23:03

Its so ironic that you called me a bully when allni did was summarise what you said and your attitude, so repeating back what you are saying, and you call me the bully. Hmm

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 18/02/2019 23:15

Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and (unfortunately) my younger sister- not her fault but I honestly think about slapping it.

RikGrimesIsMyFavourite · 18/02/2019 23:25

Jamie Oliver
Cheryl Cole

Geri halliwell

StoneofDestiny · 18/02/2019 23:48

I don't understand what you've said there at all, because I simply repeated what had been quoted, as the two being the same thing

smother You've neither accurately repeated what I said or quoted me directly - so maybe you cannot read, or simply have a poor understanding of truth. Either way - you seem beyond help as more than one person has now pointed out you are wrong and you are still insisting you are correct.

SemperIdem · 19/02/2019 00:04

Spring, Famey...you are my people!

Fellow resting bitch face here with a sharp tongue to match.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 19/02/2019 03:48

I also have a resting bitch face. It's just the way my mouth is. It's naturally pouty and a bit downturned. Some think it makes me look like a total bitch, but some think that it looks sexy. Obviously, I prefer the latter. Grin I would never change it though, tbh. I like how I look now, although it wasn't always that way.

Incidentally, I think it's a real shame that Kristen Stewart had surgery done on her mouth because apparently, she also had a so called "resting bitch face" and was constantly trolled on social media about it. Although her acting is really horrible, DH and I have always thought she was pretty sexy. She's still pretty post surgery, but we both think she's lost that sexy edginess to her, which made her stand out. I think it's a shame that she and so many others bow to the pressure of feeling the need to look like everyone else.

ALL HAIL THE BITCH FACE!!! Envy Grin Wine

BrinkPink · 19/02/2019 14:34

Totally agree about the bitchface! I hadn't realised about KSs surgery, that's really sad as I agree it was her look. I also think that downturned mouth thing can be sexy.

Sadly it's not a feature of my bitchy resting face - with me it's mainly my glaring eyes I think :o people have told me I look intimidating. But actually I find it very useful when I don't want to chat in the school playground.

RiddleyW · 19/02/2019 14:38

Well ugly people do much worse in life - you can see why on this thread. I am quite disfigured and I know people find it harder to warm to me because of it. Unfortunately it's a deeply instinctive thing.

BrinkPink · 19/02/2019 14:43

Hmm but a lot of people mentioned on this thread aren't ugly, in fact a lot are famously good-looking. A lot of what annoys people is about facial expression - smugness especially.
