To hate peolle calling me via wats app?

It barely ever works, the signal is bad, the ringtone you hear is not because the phone of the other person is ringing, it doesn’t always connect you properly, there is 8 times out of 10 a delay.

And what’s worse is you can see when the other person is online and avoiding your call which causes misunderstanding. In general if you call a mobile normally, if it’s not a good time to speak you can call someone back. On wats app you’re there “online” not picking up the call.

Completely agree.

Procrastination4 · 14/02/2019 13:04

It’s free which is why many people use it. I use it to cam my son who’s abroad. We used to use Viber but WhatsApp is better.

Procrastination4 · 14/02/2019 13:05

“call” not cam

ooooohbetty · 14/02/2019 13:07

No one can see when I'm online because I've disabled it.

Seline · 14/02/2019 13:08

Hate how everyone uses WhatsApp. Text and call like normal people.

Also can't stand those group chats everyone seems to have.

TheRealBoswell · 14/02/2019 13:08

Sometimes it’s the opposite when a person calls you and someone else messages you and see that you’re online but it looks like you’re ignoring their messages and this can therefore cause unnecessary friction between two people Sad I only found out yesterday from DP that if I don’t keep the app open whilst making the call then it doesn’t show that I’m online.

MiaowMix · 14/02/2019 13:15

Nobody texts any more. Love what's app.

Onlyjoinedforthisthread · 14/02/2019 13:18

We use it because we don't have any reception to phone or text, we do use the landline but not to call mobiles

LightAsTheBreeze · 14/02/2019 13:23

I used What’s app once, found it crap and it also wants access to all your contacts. Facebook owns it so enough said.

bingoitsadingo · 14/02/2019 13:24

The problem is people being dim and lacking the capacity to understand that just because you are "online", you are not necessarily available to talk to them. Noone I know has any trouble getting their head around the fact I may be in conversation with someone else / checking something quickly for reference / on the tube where there is wifi at stations but obviously not in between / on a train where I can send a message but not call because it'll piss people off / not actually looking at whatsapp at all but the app is open on my phone. If they did I would explain it. Or just disable the functionality. It's a tool, make it work for you instead of letting it rule you.

girlwithadragontattoo · 14/02/2019 13:24

I don't live in the UK so use it to speak to family and friends back home as it's free

bingoitsadingo · 14/02/2019 13:25

and of course it needs access to your contacts to call/message those same contacts Confused Just like google/apple do if you use their native messaging/phoning apps...

Iwouldlikesomecake · 14/02/2019 13:25

Well, YANBU to not like it but YABU if you think other people should therefore not use it or like it. My OH has no reception at his house, it is in a total mobile phone blackspot and so if he calls me he does it via free whatsapp instead of expensive landline.

LightAsTheBreeze · 14/02/2019 13:31

It wanted all my contacts, not just the one I wanted to contact but this was years ago when it first came out, perhaps it’s improved now.

NameChangeNugget · 14/02/2019 13:33

I never use or receive texts any more. I love WhatsApp

starray · 14/02/2019 13:38

It's free....wish more people would use it!

winsinbin · 14/02/2019 13:39

I love group chat.

It always works for me and there is never a delay.
I use to to speak with friends and family in other countries.
Just don't use it if it doesn't work for you!

youknowmedontyou · 14/02/2019 13:40

Love WhatsApp, can see if people are online and more likely to be able to talk.

Have a sister in Australia and we can talk for free, like previous PP, used to use viber but WhatsApp is much better.

Love group chats, makes event organising much easier.

ItsAllGone19 · 14/02/2019 13:44

International calls it's fine and a cheap way of staying in touch.

Domestic calls I won't answer, I've set my What's App status thing to messages only no calls and that seems to have helped.

QuietContraryMary · 14/02/2019 13:45

I don't use the telephone, sorry, Whatsapp only, why spend money on phone calls?

BettyUnderswoob · 14/02/2019 13:46

If you don’t like it either don’t use it or uninstall it.🤷🏻‍♀️

We have a WhatsApp family group which keeps us all up to date, and because my phone’s text capabilities are limited (can’t send pictures, use emojis, use any symbols apart from the most basic punctuation) I use WhatsApp instead.
Don’t tend to use it to call, though.

LightAsTheBreeze · 14/02/2019 13:50

I would probably un-install it OP, you will be glad you did.

Kaykay06 · 14/02/2019 13:51

Works fine for me, if I’m not home then I’ll text to let someone know and call later on?..
