How much is too much

When it comes to jewellery??

I wear loads and just got more bracelets today.

DH commented ‘you’ve gone over jewellery how I am with tattoos!’

Is it too much?

Only posted an image of my bracelets because I don’t want to out myself showing all my jewels that I wear everyday...

But most days I wear:

  • earrings (more than one pair)
  • nose rings
  • 4 necklaces
  • 5 rings (want to get more)
  • 10 bracelets (maybe get more)
  • 1 anklet (want to get more)
  • 6 toe rings

That amount would drive me mad but I literally only wear earrings.

Any other jewellery I take off, play with, fiddle with, break and then lose.

Travisandthemonkey · 04/02/2019 16:09

Who gives a fuck if it’s too much or not. It’s what YOU like. If your partner doesn’t like it, why did he go out with you in the first place.
Don’t change who you are

keepingbees · 04/02/2019 16:11

I say wear what you like/makes you happy.
I look overdone in too much jewellery somehow, I only wear my wedding/engagement ring, a dainty necklace and a pair of stud earrings. But some people suit more, my mum wears loads of big jewellery and looks fine in it.

Doggydoggydoggy · 04/02/2019 16:14

I think they go together, well, I hope they do...
I wear a mix of silver and copper, mostly silver.

mirren3 all my jewellery is from etsy.com
The silver bracelets pictured are from lots of different sellers.
The copper ones are from Caroline Newman.
I’ll try and put a link in for her shop

Personally I think multiple necklaces is a bit odd - in my head they don't work as well as, say, multiple bracelets. I don't see a problem with the rest though.

Malibucyprus · 04/02/2019 16:14

Every day I wear
1 x bracelet
1 x watch
1 x pair of earrings
3 x rings
1 x necklace

If I’m going out I’ll wear another 2 bracelets.

Ngaio2 · 04/02/2019 16:15

I find it interesting observing others’ jewellery. I’m into the bare minimum myself but that’s becauseI find it gets in the way. I sometimes get or am given a piece I really love but then rarely wear it.
OP your bracelets to me are the equivalent of just one wide bracelet.
Not so keen on nose adornment as I read a reputable report about a young woman having a stroke when the piercing affected a blood vessel.
If you have finger joint long enough for several rings to sit comfortably then I am envious.

Lovemusic33 · 04/02/2019 16:15

I love bracelets but I don’t wear any other jewellery other than a pair of studs, mainly because I’m too lazy. I have to make my own bracelets or adapt them as I have tiny wrists.

Wear as much as you like, as long as it doesn’t get in the way then it’s fine.

Peachydream · 04/02/2019 16:16

I wear 3 Rings, Eternity & Engagement & 1 on right, necklace and watch - everyday. Occasionally pair of studs if in am feeling fancy.

Personally wouldn't wear any more as i'm a fidgeter and would fiddle with it and wouldn't like to jangle.

However, I am very much a believer in you doing whatever you like and what makes you happy. If you like it wear it & enjoy it!

Ngaio2 · 04/02/2019 16:18

OP have you visited any antique fairs fo right jewellery? You can get pieces of (real) jewellery for a fraction of the price of new stuff and its fun looking, too. Smallish local fairs are best

Doggydoggydoggy · 04/02/2019 16:19

I don’t think my DH has a problem with the amount I wear really.
He is somewhat addicted to tattoos, always planning his next one and I think he was just making a joke about how I’m the same with jewellery 😊

Earring, nose ring, necklace and bracelet seems like too much. I was taught that it’s either statement necklace or statement earrings, but never both or you resemble an over decorated Christmas tree. But it’s your choice.

Zoflorabore · 04/02/2019 16:23

6 toe rings? Do you walk funny?

I find lots of that type of jewellery cheap and tacky looking to be blunt and prefer the "less is more" look but then again wearing jewellery irritates me slightly and apart from my engagement ring I remove any jewellery as soon as I'm home.
I can't even wear a watch despite me having several lovely ones.

But hey- the world would be a dull place if we were all the same :)

Doggydoggydoggy · 04/02/2019 16:25

Yes, I was taught the same nanny.
But it’s all so pretty...

No zoflora I have 3 rings on the second toe on each foot so 6 total.
The fixed type that’s near impossible to get on and off.
Can’t be doing with the adjustable toe rings, they pinch and twist round and would just drive me crazy!

All depends on the jewellery too, so there can't be any hard and fast rules. 4 stacking rings and 4 fine bracelets can mean very different thing ...

labazsisgoingmad · 04/02/2019 16:30

wish i had as much as you id def wear it more the merrier!

TheBigFatMermaid · 04/02/2019 16:30

I wear one necklace, a pair of earrings and my engagement ring.

I think your jewellery is fine if you like it, but 4 necklaces would seriously get on my nerves.

NannyRed · 04/02/2019 16:31

But it’s all so pretty...

then carry on regardless, you’re a grown up now, live by your own rules. It doesn’t do for us all to be the same anyway. (In the nicest possible way)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/02/2019 16:33

I can't stand wearing bracelets, although I think they look lovely on other people. Day to day I wear a watch (never take it off), stud earrings, two rings on my left hand and one on my right. I always wear a necklace, but have loads I chop and change with depending on my outfit. I usually have some sort of brooch/pin on whatever coat or jacket I'm wearing too.

(I have a pierced navel, but only DP sees that.)

mansneverhot · 04/02/2019 16:34

Wear whatever the hell you want

I normally wear at least two necklaces
At least 4-5 rings
At least 1 bracelet
2 nose rings
....11 earrings Grin

I love jewellery. I own 60+ silver rings and necklaces. They make me feel good. Mostly from special occasions or places I've visited, they all mean something even if it was just to treat myself on a shit day. Just rock it and own it and fuck what anyone else thinks.

RomanyRoots · 04/02/2019 16:36

She shall have music wherever she goes.
Do you live in Banbury Cross and have a white horse?

rainflowerstar · 04/02/2019 16:38

I wear a pair of earrings,
3 rings
necklace
2 bracelets
watch

Ps the bracelets are lovely!

SushiMonster · 04/02/2019 16:38

It’s v personal isn’t it?

Some people wear none. Some peoooe are dripping in it!

I usually have a necklace on.

No earrings. No rings or bracelets as they annoy me.

JasperKarat · 04/02/2019 16:38

I can't get my head around toe rings and shoes... Ouch?
I wear my wedding and engagement rings, earrings, a necklace, a watch and sometimes a bracelet or statement/costume ring, or I did until DD started trying to rip the earrings from my ears and the chain from my neck. I let my nose piercing heal up when I graduated but do miss it sometimes even all these years on and I rarely use the second holes in my ears these days.

I have quite a lot of tatty devine stuff, so big colourful pieces that attract comments you're not always sure we compliments 😁. Wear what you're comfortable in OP
