to ask how I’m going to squeeze into dress 🤔

Squeezee · 30/01/2019 19:52

Off to a wedding in a couple of weeks and the dress I ordered in the sales arrived today. A size 10, it looks so lovely but a bit too tight. Checked online and the bigger sizes are sold out.

I’m going to have a look around for another dress but would love to make this one work if I can.

So, bombard me with your tips for losing a bit of weight in the space of a couple of weeks. I have to be careful because I’m exclusively breastfeeding my 3 month old (so I’m always hungry) and I’m suffering from diastasis recti which I’m seeing a PT for, so no high impact excercise. I’m thinking drinking lots of water, no snacking on anything naughty and some brisk walks. Oh, and some spanx of course! Will that be enough?

Cut out carbs. Whenever I do that the weight falls off me

Sexnotgender · 30/01/2019 19:55

Lots of water, replace your carbs with salad/vegetables.

Before you eat anything ask yourself- am I actually hungry?

Sexnotgender · 30/01/2019 19:55

And eat slowly!

Foxandthehound · 30/01/2019 19:55

Plenty of exercise, 5 a day fruit and veg, no carbs, only drink water

Ullupullu · 30/01/2019 19:55

No snacks. Or just wear something else. A 3 month old baby is excuse enough to not fit into a small size 10, don't make yourself feel crappy.

Chopbob · 30/01/2019 19:55

Get yourself some of those ultra control giant knickers from m and s (the kind that come up to your boobs and down to your knees). They are ace and shave about a dress size off plus they are ultra comfy too!

EhlanaOfElenia · 30/01/2019 19:56

If you don't want to cut out carbs completely look at "2 weeks in the fast lane" - its very good!

Houseonahill · 30/01/2019 19:58

Surely this depends on what a bit tight means? Are you a 14 trying to squeeze into a 10 or are you a size 10 and it's a small 10?

If the latter lots of water and less carbs should help, agree with eating slowly as well.

Squeezee · 30/01/2019 19:58

Good idea breast. What does your day in food look like when you cut out carbs?

At the moment I’m eating cereal for breakfast, usually a mid morning snack of toast, lunch is usually soup or veggie chili or something, sometimes pasta salad. Then the day quickly descends into eating biscuits/chocolate/crisps. Depends on how crazy the kids are driving me 😆

I think a new dress would be far less pressure given that you can't spank the gym and have to bf too.

Squeezee · 30/01/2019 20:00

I’m a size 10 trying to squeeze into a small size 10. Looking at the website now it did say to order a size up because it runs small. Confused

Lots of breastfeeding women who do keto/low carb report a drop in supply. I wouldn’t try it with an EBF 3 month old. Maybe when they’re a bit older. Get a new dress, wear this one another time.

Squeezee · 30/01/2019 20:02

chopbob great I’ll have a look! The spanx I have are ones that go all the way up to my boobs and down to my thighs. Not the comfiest though so I’ll check the m&s ones out.

@Squeezee if I want to lose weight quickly I eat a lot of veg and lean meat, salads, soups. Replace pasta with courgetti etc.

So typical day
Breakfast: poached eggs, avocado, tomatoes
Lunch: salad with smoked salmon, low fat dressing
Dinner: replace potatoes with butternut squash wedges, loads of veg (but not carb heavy veg so no carrots/peas/corn) more peppers, broccoli, leafy veg like spinach etc. And lean meat like chicken, grilled steak with the fat cut off, fish

BreastSideStory · 30/01/2019 20:04

Oh and loads of water and green tea

Squeezee · 30/01/2019 20:06

Yes that’s what concerns me cheby. Maybe I’ll do the brisk walks and lots of water. I’m sure I can find something other than biscuits and chocolate to snack on too Grin

Has this actually worked for anyone? Maybe I should actually check if I can even sit down in this dress 🤔

Does anyone have any recommendations for a little black dress? It doesn’t have to be BF friendly.

I lost almost half a stone last week. I did it by having flu though!

I think some sturdy "shapewear" is your best bet.

Something like this
www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_158010331060_-1

or these

www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_158010330360_-1 , depending on where the dress is too tight.

Squeezee · 30/01/2019 20:08

That all sounds delicious breast. Right up my street. Thank you!

Go get a universal contour wrap or two. They wrap you up in big bandages type material and you can lose inches everywhere.

redcaryellowcar · 30/01/2019 20:10

As you are breastfeeding you should lose weight more easily, I would cut down carbs and cut out anything too fatty eg cheese, butter, and walk a lot. Can you swim? Cut up vegetables (Carrots, peppers, cucumber etc) to snack on and drink loads of water.

Mumof1andacat · 30/01/2019 20:17

Send it back and get refund. Now is not the time to be worrying yourself with something like this when you have small baby to contend with.

Atalune · 30/01/2019 20:25

Low carb

Wake up- drink a big glass of water.
If at all possible go for a good walk then best to exercise in a fasted state.

Omelette or scramble with mushrooms and spinach. Eat loads here.

Mid morning snack-
Handful of almonds, a banana

Lunch
Soup- vege soup. Eat loads till your full. Side salad or just some cut up veg

Go for another fast walk

Dinner
Lean lean protein like salmon, chicken
Huge portion of veg- steamed with a lime chilli dressing

Full fat yoghurt and berries and toasted seeds and nuts.

Drink SO MUCH WATER!

Wear Spanx

Squeezee · 30/01/2019 20:45

mumof1 yeah I know, but it’ll be nice to look and feel good. We’re only talking maybe a couple of pounds, it’s just a bit tight, I don’t think that’s a huge deal 🤷🏻‍♀️

Great food tips atalune, thank you!

Low carb and intermittent fasting. 16:8 is very effective.

BudgiePie · 31/01/2019 08:04

Stealth boast. 3 month old baby and trying to squeeze into a small size 10 😄 just get another dress. Don't stress your body at this time trying to get into a dress that's just silly.
