I bought a new car, while sorting through the paperwork I found a v5 for another car and part of its service history and receipts, it turned out that she had bought a new car and sold her old one (my new one) and has mixed some paperwork up.

One of the reciepts had the ladies number on so I rang her, explained and offered to drop it to her today. She didn't know it was lost.

Dh is one of those people that doesn't do things for others and thinks I'm too soft, he says he wouldn't have gone out of his way, they can get a new one.

All my paperwork is there, he gave me that paperwork then we found more.

The funny thing is that even tho I bought my car online from half an hour away the lady lives in the same small village as me so it hasn't gone far lol

I lost my purse at the bus stop a few months ago and was devastated as it contained my marriage certificate (had been on the way to the bank to change my name). Cancelled all the cards and knew I could order a new one but was devastated. Some lovely soul found it and dropped it through my door :) Yes, we don’t have to do these nice things for people, but doesn’t it make the world a happier place to live in?

Your DH sounds like a right misery guts! I hope if anything ever happens to him people are kinder than he is. I once found a wallet and took a taxi to the owners house to return it (contained something with address but no phone number). The guy was so grateful- it's nice to be nice!

I hope the world has more people like you than people like your DH in it.

Once had my bag snatched (off the passenger seat of my car while waiting at a junction - I hadn't put central locking on) and several months later someone living not far away put my purse and a note through the door. They had found it in their garden - obv. had been chucked over the fence so was damaged and mouldy, but still containing my driving licence and a couple of other things I still hadn't got round to replacing.
I really appreciated it, and would do the same for someone else.

I'd return it too, even if it meant paying postage. A lot of people have the 'I'm all right, Jack' attitude but it doesn't make the world a better place.

I would have returned it too. I like to think that if I do something nice for someone, they will try to pay it forward in some way, so the planet becomes a nicer place to live.

I hope your DH never expects any kindness or consideration from anyone else, otherwise, ya know, hypocrisy.

I can be a bit mean. Even I can't understand why your DH wouldn't want to return it.

Your DH is so harsh. If its on your way or local drop it off. Or Post it to her. It will cost 60p for a stamp and 5 minutes of your time.

If the person lived so near of course I would put it through the door, I'm trying to bring up my DC to be the kind of humans who help others too as my XP, their dad, would be like your DH, never would put himself out for anyone.

So far it seems to be working, I have my fingers crossed that it continues

Of course you are doing the right thing, your husband is weird and selfish. A small bit of kindness goes a long way, and your husband's attitude is part of the reason this world is so f*ked up. Everyone in it for themselves, and can't be arsed to do a small thing for someone.

Hope he never needs a favour from a stranger to make his life easier!

I think you should introduce your DH to the idea of karma; but leaving that aside, you know you did the right thing.

Send it back to them or give it to the police and explain what happened as they're important documents.

I doubt I would have married such a selfish twat in the first place, if he's like this over popping something in the post what else won't he do for others? Seriously I can hardly believe someone is so selfish
