I quite simply don’t get it. Our systems stink. How can things like this happen in this day and age?

Bloody joke.

HamiltonCork · 18/01/2019 18:51

Out in 3yrs. An utter disgrace

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/01/2019 18:52

And their poor other children too. Shocking case and lame sentence.

Houseonahill · 18/01/2019 18:52

I agree and lets be honest it's only 3 years really seen as serving seems to just be standard now a days unless you commit another crime while in prison. Our justice system is disgraceful.

therewillbetime · 18/01/2019 18:54

It just beggars belief. I just cannot understand it.

Disgusting! All these stories, especially another one this week that I won't mention just in case you don't know and don't want to, are very upsetting and I have no idea what possesses people... our justice system is an absolute joke!!!

BitOutOfPractice · 18/01/2019 18:55

They were "offered advice" 14 years ago and 4 years ago. Offered advice?! Words fail me. What absolute evil people.

BarbarianMum · 18/01/2019 19:00

Strange, isnt it. Kill someone elses child and the workd (quite rightly) bays for your blood. Kill your own child - the one person you should look out for at all costs - and meh, who cares, slap on the wrist. Angry

BifsWif · 18/01/2019 19:02

I know which story you mean beans. It broke my heart, and then I read this one today.

What the fuck is wrong with people? I can’t even begin to understand.

Ginger1982 · 18/01/2019 19:02

They'll actually have to serve 5.5 years unless the parole board agree to release them before that.

Aquamarine1029 · 18/01/2019 19:02

British sentencing laws are a pathetic embarrassment.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/01/2019 19:03

They are a couple. So, I assume because there are other kids in the family, they chose to have a baby. They precured sperm somehow and deliberated chose to ‘use’ it.

Why on God’s green earth did they do this? I know no parent looks down at their newborn and thinks of ways to hurt them but for gods sake why have a child of you can’t/won’t look after them?

BarbarianMum · 18/01/2019 19:05

I'm sure the parole board will let them out when they can demonstrate they haven't hurt a child for a couple of years.

Gobolinocat · 18/01/2019 19:06

I'm aire the usual suspects on here will be along soon to tell us why this sentence is good.

I feel how we protect and treat the youngest in our society reflects on us as a society.

We cannot protect our young, our vulnerable (old folk in homes) children in care (Rotherham) etc and we don't punish those who hurt children.

BlueThursday · 18/01/2019 19:09

Their home is only about 2 miles from mine with their little one only year older than mine. Complete worlds apart Sad

Drogosnextwife · 18/01/2019 19:09

It absolutely disgusts me! People get longer for fraud and theft. It makes me sick to my stomach. What I also can't understand is why these children weren't taken away from those bitches before it got to the point where one died! Why does there have to be a death before social services will actually step in and take the child away! I have a friend who is a police officer and some of the things she has told me are horrendous. I also have a family member who should have had her children taken away at birth but still no one has. It's appalling.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/01/2019 19:15

I have family who work in some awful environments and they say that they have been on the phone to the SS begging them to intervene because the genuinely believed that a child will die - actually die - if they didn’t act pronto. They aren’t people prone to melodrama or hysterics (very experiences and definately ‘seen it all’). They say it’s bloody hard to get action.

Thisonewilldo · 18/01/2019 19:18

I just cannot fathom how it got this bad. They were 'offered advice' so must have been on someones radar. How on earth?

How can someone actually starve there child to death this day and age in the UK without someone noticing?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/01/2019 19:19

You can refuse advice though. They can’t make you take it sadly.

User758172 · 18/01/2019 19:21

Disgusting human beings. Sheer wickedness.

They should swing. Unpopular opinion I know, but I don’t care. No amount of time in jail can atone for the suffering of that lovely little girl.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 18/01/2019 19:28

Yet we have a gangsters who have just been given a whole life tariff and before anyone bites my head off quite right, too. However when people can do something so utterly despicable to a baby and get only 6 years oh yes abd theyll be out in 3. There is a serious imbalance somewhere. I have no problem whatsoever it saying that.

Foxyscarf · 18/01/2019 19:29

Mrsadriene I share your unpopular opinion. There should be no rehabilitation option for people who do things like this. They're not fit to be part of civilised society and they don't deserve a second chance.

Foxyscarf · 18/01/2019 19:29

Sorry, autocorrect on your username there!

MrsJane · 18/01/2019 19:35

I saw this earlier. Absolutely disgusting sentencing. Beyond lenient, I just can't comprehend it. This is not neglect, this is torture and murder of a tiny child.

They should never ever be let out. They should be starved to death in prison.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 18/01/2019 19:39

Oh well. They may end up sharing a cell with (insert name of violent male offender in a frock of choice).
