FortunesFave · 12/01/2019 22:36

We don't play board games because I hate them. Grin BUt I've realised that there have been a lot of new ones recently...and that some might be fun.

DC are 14 and 10. The 14 year old might be a bit Hmm but you can but try! Any suggestions please? Prefer funny ones....really.

Speak out..... haven't laughed so much

Taffeta · 12/01/2019 22:38

12 & 15 yos

We like

Obama Llama
Pictionary
Headbanz

And simple word association

None of these are board games though! Grin

Fancyaruck · 12/01/2019 22:40

Pandemic. It's cooperative, so less chance of arguments breaking out!

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/01/2019 22:41

Speak Out was great, love Boggle too.

OwlinaTree · 12/01/2019 22:45

Camel cup is good.

kitnkaboodle · 12/01/2019 22:51

Rapidough and Taboo

ineedaholidaynow · 12/01/2019 22:51

The Big Taboo, with Bendy Bob (although 10yo might not know all the words)
Crystal Maze - physical challenges are quite fun

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 12/01/2019 22:56

DS18 recently bought a game called the London Game. Basically you have to travel along the tube and visit various landmarks, but other players can disrupt your plans. It was enjoyed by everyone at Christmas.

Bumblebee39 · 12/01/2019 23:10

Love Jenga

HollySwift · 12/01/2019 23:16

Exploding kittens - it’s a card game but fab for that age.

DS2 is 10 and nearly wet himself at that stupid speak out game too.

Smurf123 · 12/01/2019 23:21

Rapidough is brilliant

OnlyLittleMissOrganised · 12/01/2019 23:24

Quelf. It’s really funny. My auntie ended up having ask her foot for permission to speak in a high pitched voice every time she wanted to say something. Her foot then had to reply in a different voice permission granted. It’s a mix of quiz, Pictionary, charades and other things.

I really enjoy it!

Depending on how old the people are playing and how sensitive you are there is always cards against humanity.

We also have another called colour brain which is great.

FreshlyWashed · 12/01/2019 23:26

The Really Nasty Horse Racing Game is fun

StringyPotatoes · 12/01/2019 23:38

@Fancyaruck In my house, Pandemic caused the one and only family argument over Christmas in a way that no competitive game ever has!

We enjoyed Zeus on a Moose and Debatable over Christmas! My SIL had to argue that women don't spend too much on beauty products whilst pretending to be drunk!

Also hoping to get You've Got Crabs soon too!

Fancyaruck · 12/01/2019 23:54

Stringy how did that happen? You either all win or all lose!?

We also love Zeus on a moose, which I believe also has expansion packs now...ooh and Exploding Kittens is a good card game.

Picknickers · 13/01/2019 00:11

Bucket of Doom was the biggest hit in our house. Hilarious!

SpoonBlender · 13/01/2019 00:14

Concept - www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00IDB6J0S?tag=mumsnetforum-21

You pick a word/phrase from the card you're dealt, and have to silently clue in the other players using only the tokens and the board icons provided. It's hysterical, some of the higher difficulty phrases are absolutely mental.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 13/01/2019 00:15

Another vote for rapidough. - great fun .

Ilovefood1 · 13/01/2019 00:51

Hearing things! It's a game where someone puts on earphones that play noise; the other people on their team have to quietly say random phrases and they have to guess what's being said. It's hilarious, not only for what the people guessing say but some of the phrases are so random you start laughing at them too!

BertieBotts · 13/01/2019 00:58

Speak out was funny but I warn you it really freaked me out because the mouth things nahe people look like skeletons! I could barely look but it did have everyone in stitches.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 13/01/2019 01:10

Catchphrase is fantastic.

WhatwouldCJdo · 13/01/2019 01:13

Exploding Kittens is much loved by us.
Also Dobble. Super quick but we play it for ages.

Rummikub was the game we o
Got for Christmas and enjoying it.

FortunesFave · 13/01/2019 01:28

Should have said...that Speak Out game disgusts me so that won't be purchased! I can't get over it! All shoving those things in their mouths...germs!

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 13/01/2019 01:32

You get several of the things and you can sterilise them, it's not germy, it is properly gross though, I don't want to look at people's teeth.

Threeminis · 13/01/2019 01:56

@FortunesFave I'm the same. Just the thought of it makes me feel ill. Cannot believe how many people love it.
