Funniest family board games?

FortunesFave · 12/01/2019 22:36

We don't play board games because I hate them. Grin BUt I've realised that there have been a lot of new ones recently...and that some might be fun.

DC are 14 and 10. The 14 year old might be a bit Hmm but you can but try! Any suggestions please? Prefer funny ones....really.

If you're OK with using your gadgets, Jackbox games have had me doubled over with laughter.

FortunesFave · 13/01/2019 02:15

Theeminis I know! My biggest fear would be that the DC wouldn't watch which contraption was theirs and they'd all be sharing spit! BLECH!

Our family love Bananagram and Mensch Ärgere Dich Nicht. My uncanny ability to say the number I need (or want them to get) and then I (or they) roll it, drives them mad.

Speak Out was down to £5 in The Entertainer- we laughed until we cried! Are Obama Llama and Zeus on a Moose the same sort of thing? They sound good too.

Imalittleelf · 13/01/2019 04:10

Not to put a downer on this conversation but when playing Speak out we did get an understanding for how difficult people with a speech impairment or someone who has had a stroke must find it when people can't understand what they are saying

It is still a funny game though especially when the dribble is pouring out of the contraption pings across the room.

Mouse trap is a good classic game or articuulate or cranium

We loved Sussed which is a conversation type game easy to play and quite hilarious. Also soundiculous where you have to describe something just by making sounds. The kids loved Game Off which involves silly challenges. We also have a board game called The Five Second Rule which is a bit like Scattegories- an all time favourite.

Kittens in the blender, Munchkins and Unstable Unicorns. All card games as we tend to take them camping.

Telestrations is hilarious. Basically Chinese whispers but with drawing instead of whispering. We’re always crying with laughter

DonkeyPunch88 · 13/01/2019 07:02

We downloaded an app called DeckHeads over Christmas which was hilarious

sandgrown · 13/01/2019 07:03

We love Articulate . It's fast and funny

Sammilouwho · 13/01/2019 07:17

@owlinatree it’s camel up not cup. My husband gives me a death stare whenever I say camel cup, so I do it to annoy him Grin

Ticket to ride is good for families, pandemic, if you want something little and quick Love Letter is a cute little card game (gets your best lying face on). My in laws love ‘no thanks’ but it stresses me out! Speedy words is fun but again is a card game.
If you are anywhere near Leeds they have a board game cafe where you can go and test out some games before you buy them and then there is a game shop opposite haha

Taffeta · 13/01/2019 08:39

Obama Llama is a rhyming game

There are three different types of cards -

One where you can't speak and have to act it out - so everyone will know the name of the celebrity but you have to act out what they are doing - eg Barack Obama riding a llama

One where you read out the description on the card and people have to guess its Barack Obama becoming a farmer

One where you have to describe it without saying the actual words eg Barack Obama acting out a drama

PutDownThatLaptop · 13/01/2019 09:50

Obama Llama had us laughing until we cried.
