Would you be screwed and find that number daunting? I am able to commit the entire evening/night to this essay but am getting anxious. Typically I like to give myself only 500 words a day to write but I fancied extending my Christmas break a little bit longer. I've written 400 today so far. Really kicking myself for not starting earlier!

Well you’ve written about 10% of that here! Get cracking, you can do it.

RayRayBidet · 12/01/2019 19:34

Get off Mumsnet and stop procrastinating! Grin
600 words is not actually that much if the ideas are flowing.
Seriously, get on with it 😜

GottenGottenGotten · 12/01/2019 19:35

No, 600 is easily doable assuming I know what I'm going to write about.

Herja · 12/01/2019 19:35

If it makes you feel better, I have 3000 due in on tuesday morning. I don't feel like doing it now, I figure I'll do it on monday...

Crazyfrog007 · 12/01/2019 19:35

Seriously? 600 words is nothing. Try writing a 20000 word dissertation in a month because of a university cock up.

Of course it's possible. Get off mums net and crack on.

Andro · 12/01/2019 19:36

Not a problem for me unless I had to hand it in straight away, I need to be able to proofread the next day.

DamnShesaSexyChick · 12/01/2019 19:36

I promise you it's doable, I wrote over 1000 words last Saturday.

alfagirl73 · 12/01/2019 19:37

600 words is not a long essay - you've done 400 already - 200 more isn't much at all. Dig deep and go for it! You'll feel great when it's done.

PatchworkElmer · 12/01/2019 19:37

It’ll be ok- I always worry, and then end up over the word count!

seenna · 12/01/2019 19:37

Okay, feel slightly better. I'm a perfectionist so agonise over literally every word which really drags things out.

Mailista · 12/01/2019 19:37

600 words is really not a problem...

Sallygoroundthemoon · 12/01/2019 19:37

600 is nothing, just a few paragraphs. You could knock that out in half an hour

seenna · 12/01/2019 19:38

I still have a 1000 words to write tomorrow and Monday.

OP posts:
DitzyPrints · 12/01/2019 19:39

I’ve got 3000 words to do by next Monday really wanted to get lots done today managed 250 👎 going to library tomo hoping I will churn a 1000 out in a day!
Good luck op

GottenGottenGotten · 12/01/2019 19:39

You should just get words down. The time to agonise over finding the perfect wording is when you have a completed draft.

seenna · 12/01/2019 19:40

Does anyone know of any post-bureaucratic organisations? Really struggling to find case studies. Ignore me if not.

Walnutwhipster · 12/01/2019 19:41

In English lit exams at university you were expected to write 1,000 words in an hour and be quote specific.

MeltingWax · 12/01/2019 19:41

I procrastinated writing my thesis and ended up putting myself in the position of having to write 4,000 words a day to meet the deadline. That was, um, interesting.

600 words is not very much at all. Writing a 200 word abstract for a conference takes me about 30 mins. As long as you have a structure to what you want to say, if shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. If you get off MN of course Grin

IMissGin · 12/01/2019 19:41

Assuming it’s on something I know something about I could knock it out in under an hour easily.

Kpo58 · 12/01/2019 19:42

I'd really struggle to get 600 words down. Have you made a plan or mind map for your essay?

couchparsnip · 12/01/2019 19:42

600 words is about a page and a half of a4. Easily doable. Starting is the hardest part!

Unescorted · 12/01/2019 19:42

Your post is 62 words. Just write 4 paragraphs and you are done.

seenna · 12/01/2019 19:42

Yeah I've always been to churn it out in exams but essays bring out the worst in me.

SharedLife · 12/01/2019 19:43

In my experience, you will procrastinate and freak out about it being impossible, and then somehow, it will be done. I know I spent about 100 times the energy it took to complete my essays on avoiding them and getting anxious. But, I always got them done on time. Funny old creatures we are.

RayRayBidet · 12/01/2019 19:43

@seenna
Stop being a perfectionist and just get words on paper.
Polish it up at the end.
