4 year old DD1 caught the norovirus doing the rounds and was ill Tuesday and Wednesday relentlessly. Obviously very little sleep for either of us. I was so careful about hand washing etc but still managed to catch it. DD2 is ebf. Managed as best I could but it was hell. On the plus side I’ve now mastered bf using a sling.
Dp was wonderful and helped as much as he possibly could but sadly cannot bf Grin and the 4 year old is still a bit wiped out and clingy and just wanted me.
Haven’t been sick since lunch time and I think I’m through the worst. Lying in bed with the dc’s feeling like a wet rag.
Dp came in an hour ago and I said I might try and eat something in a bit. He told me to stay where I was and he would go and grab me something.
Lay down expecting toast or crackers or something that a normal person would eat after a stomach bug. Must have fell asleep because he came in with a tray. On that tray? Fucking chilli and rice with nachos and jalapeños!
What the actual fuck was going through his mind when he thought that would be a good idea

Couldn’t you have just told him what you wanted?

SneakyGremlins · 05/01/2019 19:19

Sounds delish. I'll have it.

DioneTheDiabolist · 05/01/2019 19:20

I can beat that OP.

After my recent stomach bug, my DP was similar to yours. He brought me a blue cheese omelette!ShockEnvy

YANBU at all.

GimmeBread · 05/01/2019 19:22

Nothing to do with norovirus but the first time I had a major asthma attack in front of my now DH, he sprayed air freshener while we waited for the ambulance! 😂

13thWarriorWitch · 05/01/2019 19:23

Haha. I hope you threw it at him.

Sexnotgender · 05/01/2019 19:23

Blue cheese omelette sounds vile at the best of times!

Chilli sounds delicious but maybe not with a dodgy stomach. A boiled egg and toast may have been better!

rose789 · 05/01/2019 19:25

It certainly smells delish @SneakyGremlins I’ll send it on over for you!

@DioneTheDiabolist oh my days! I think I would heave even if I was healthy. Blue cheese is vile. You poor thing

Clarich007 · 05/01/2019 19:27

The rice might be ok though, being bland.Hope you all feel better soon

m0therofdragons · 05/01/2019 19:28

My dad did this to my mum - bought rump steak, burnt it so made it into curry. She'd asked for a piece of toast! Hope you're feeling better op.

Slipperboots · 05/01/2019 19:29

After a norovirus DH bought be a pack of doughnuts. Grim

rose789 · 05/01/2019 19:31

@GimmeBread oh no!!! Eeh he must have felt awful afterwards (hopefully)
@13thWarriorWitch I was tempted I’m not going to lie Grin
@Sexnotgender it’s one of my favourite meals he makes! He’s had his chilli and I’m living a rock and roll lifestyle with a couple of slices of dry toast and a pint of water

You poor thing. I’d lay there plotting revenge ready for when he gets norvirus. Fish curry, perhaps?

One time I was ill and asked DH to make me leek and potato soup. He didn’t cook much at that stage so carefully followed my recipe, which called for bacon to be sprinkled on the top at the least minute. Not finding any bacon in the fridge, he alighted on another pork product - sausages - which he sliced up and sprinkled on the soup... So yes, he served me (raw-ish) sausage soup.

DragginBallsEEEE · 05/01/2019 19:33

Ugh no way can you eat that. Have the rice if it's not covered in chilli. I suffer from IBS and the only thing that settles my stomach is the BRAT diet for a good few hours.

Midnight21 · 05/01/2019 19:34

Nice thought,terrible execution.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 05/01/2019 19:39

Jacket potato or cheese souffle is my go to for a bad tum!

brizzledrizzle · 05/01/2019 19:41

Poor chap can't win.

rose789 · 05/01/2019 19:42

Oh my days to the sausage soup!! I do hope you didn’t eat it?
He meant so well it’s one of my favourite meals that he makes and he was trying to be a sweetheart. It’s wrapped up in the fridge for when I feel better- hooray!
Just took my plate down to the kitchen and he’s taken down the Christmas decorations, cleaned the house and I can see the bottom of the washing basket. Hes an absolute diamond

Smallhorse · 05/01/2019 19:43

He was doing a kind thing

Bathbombs · 05/01/2019 19:44

My DH always does this-no concept of bland food for a couple of days! The first food he gave ds after a recent stomach bug was barrbeque crisps!

Somerville · 05/01/2019 19:44

No I didn’t eat the sausage soup. Boak.

Chilli is always nicest the second day so fingers crossed you feel well enough for it tomorrow.

Yabbers · 05/01/2019 19:44

You have had a crap day, feel like shit and your OH makes one of your favourite meals and brings it to you in bed?

LTB, obvs.

abbey44 · 05/01/2019 19:46

He sounds like a keeper.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 05/01/2019 19:48

Sounds like he was thinking of you as it's a favourite dish of yours. Bit spicy though when you've been ill I'll give you that Grin

greendale17 · 05/01/2019 19:50

Poor chap can't win.

^I agree

MoaningSickness · 05/01/2019 19:52

Seriously, do the (few) people defending the DP not know what norrovirus is?!?

No one wants to eat a spicy chili after vomiting and diarrhoea!
