To panic & put my hand down the toilet

FitBit strap has become loose lately, every time ive take it off for a shower lately it's unclipped at the "clock face" first, before allowing me to u do the strap, with it nearly falling off and hitting the floor each time. Keep giving mental notes to order new strap, but due to DD1 and newborn DD2 I keep forgetting.

Due to DD1 and DD2 both being asleep when I escaped to the bathroom for a much needed shower, I had a wee, but didn't flush as didn't want to wake up the DDs (maybe a completely different AIBU thread there !!!)

Turned on shower , took off Fitbit, and strap unclipped and Fitbit fell down the toilet, onto my wee, and wet tissue . Vom.

I panicked and thrust my hand down there to salvage the fit bit , .. I could have got some gloves first.

Panicked again and put it under the running shower to wash off the wee... Quoting in my head what I remembered from the instructions saying it was splash proof not water proof (I've worn it out running in the rain before, but not in the bath IYSWIM)

WWYD?

Not sure what the question is

KeepSmiling80 · 03/01/2019 11:29

You win weirdest fetish of 2019.

Holidayshopping · 03/01/2019 11:29

Are you worried because your fit bit might be water-damaged or because you’ve touched some wee?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 03/01/2019 11:29

Wwyd about what OP?

booellesmum · 03/01/2019 11:30

Think I would have panicked and put my hand down too.
If you are worried about moisture do you have any of those little bags if silica gel?
Pop it in a sealed bag with a few of those.

TinselandToblerones · 03/01/2019 11:30

I’d have done exactly what you did OP. How’s the Fitbit?

BarbarianMum · 03/01/2019 11:30

You have two kids but youre phased by a bit of wee ?

Boxetcase22 · 03/01/2019 11:31

My WWYD was would you have done the same as me? Did I panic or would u have done the same

I can't bring myself to put the Fitbit back on...

That was quite a tale!

Put the fitbit in some rice? Wash your hands?

Boxetcase22 · 03/01/2019 11:32

Barbarian mum - definitely not worried about the wee... Am more grossed about the wet tissue

I HATE wet tissue

Not that anyone loves it

But IAVU about it

I did this once with another gadget - I put my hand in and grabbed it! What else could you do?! Grin

BarbarianMum · 03/01/2019 11:34

I would have done the same then washed the fitbit and my hands in warm soapy water, dried them off and got on with my life.

CantWaitToRetire · 03/01/2019 11:35

I'd have closed the lid to the toilet after using it, regardless of whether flushed or not. Maybe put something like toilet roll on top to remind me to flush later. Why on earth did you leave the lid open?

Putting your hand in the toilet won't have hurt your hand, just be mindful to wash it properly. Not sure the immersion in water/urine and then the subsequent shower would have done the Fitbit any good though. If it's still working then just wipe it with some anti-bac wash on a cloth.

Teachtolive · 03/01/2019 11:35

On an aside, how old is the fitbit? I had a fault with the strap in mine and it's was only 6 months old. Contacted fitbit support on Twitter and they sent a new one out, no questions. If the strap of yours was faulty tell them what happened they might help you out?

Cherries101 · 03/01/2019 11:45

Put it in a bit of dettol and water. Will be fine. Then call Fitbit to ask them to replace the strap. They’ll do it even for older models

gamerchick · 03/01/2019 11:47

Dry it off and put it in some rice and order another strap.

Why are you wearing it when the pins faulty? You're going to lose your Fitbit.

CheesecakeAddict · 03/01/2019 11:50

Dh has a bad habit of not flushing the toilet after a wee. My toddler has a bad habit of throwing things in the toilet. Go figure. 🤮

GenerationSnowflake · 03/01/2019 11:51

you have TWO kids and you are bothered about a bit of wee-soaked toilet tissue in your private toilet? Hmm

WH1SPERS · 03/01/2019 11:53

I’m wondering how you ever managed to conceive twice if you are that squeamish ? Sex is WAY more yukky than pee.

viques · 03/01/2019 11:54

Well technically it was a toilet bowl of pretty well diluted wee, and your own as well. Not as though you had to put your hand in a bucket of undiluted wee from random strangers!

KikoMino · 03/01/2019 11:55

It's just wee? I would have fished it out without a second thought. Wash your hands and the fitbit in the shower, job done.

Some people are so squeamish!

GenerationSnowflake · 03/01/2019 11:57

Sex is WAY more yukky than pee

I am not sure I agree with that Grin

scarbados · 03/01/2019 11:57

The wee isn't a problem, you say? Is the tissue a problem? Or the water?

Why is tissue that's wet with diluted wee such a big problem? Genuinely don't understand!

DanielRicciardosSmile · 03/01/2019 11:57

What else could you have done?

missbattenburg · 03/01/2019 11:59

Huh? I'd have fished out out with my hand regardless of what was in the loo. Hands wash up quite easily.
