Is anyone watching this Inbetweeners thing?

What a pile of crap! The programme was funny back in the day but this Jimmy Carr thing is absolutely dire. Also why do they keep embarrassing the women who were in the show? First Anthony Head’s daughter and then the woman who played Will’s mum with unfunny sexist jokes.

How are they going to get two hours out of this?

Managed about 10 minutes. Jimmy Carr is just a sexist bore. Everyone looks like they wish they were somewhere else. I did so I turned over!

JudasPrudy · 01/01/2019 22:06

Joe looks a bit uncomfortable standing beside the super fan Confused

Ozil10 · 01/01/2019 22:07

The boys look embarrassed to be there, I got as far as the superfan quiz and turned it off.

I find it odd how Lauren is there, and Jessica Knappet who both had very small one episode bit parts yet they didn't want Emily Atack. Wheres Lucy? And all the parents of the boys? A very strange line up. I'll go back and watch the rest another time but the four boys just looked like they wanted to be anywhere but there.

delboysskinandblister · 01/01/2019 22:08

I was going to but am watching Bridge of Spies could really go a bag of Hula Hoops

theycallmebabydriver · 01/01/2019 22:10

@delboysskinandblister
Good choice, bridge of spies is a brilliant film!

OhThatsASnazzyBouquet · 01/01/2019 22:17

So glad other people have said this! I also thought it was a special episode Sad the awkwardness was unbareable turned off and went to bed to read mumsnet..

Maryann1975 · 01/01/2019 22:19

We’ve turned it off. Thought it was going to be a new episode, so really disappointed when we found it was a fall show type thing. We watched about 10 minutes of it and turned over. I thought the lads all looked really embarrassed, like they didn’t want to be there. Used to really enjoy watching it back in the day.

Chewinggumwalk · 01/01/2019 22:23

I also thought it would be a sort of “10 years in the future” episode. But apparently the boys think that what was clumsy and amusing at 17 would just be offensive at 27. I can see their point.

And I know it’s partly so brillianf because they made so few episodes, comparatively.

But I still want to cry; I would have LOVED a new episode!!

panoramallama · 01/01/2019 22:23

Yep - watching it through clenched everything. Young adult persons are keen and present in the room, so I am sitting here with it on in the background.

One of the most god-awful desperately unfunny things I've ever seen, and Jimmy Carr is just reinforcing my already low opinion of him.

Sodding grim, it really is.

Cakemadeoffruit · 01/01/2019 22:40

It could have been so good but then they have Jimmy Carr fronting it. I think they thought his dysfunctional personality would be perfect, but the show worked because they were kids/school aged young adults who didn't know any better. Whereas he's just a pompous knobhead and his laugh just dominates everything.

I am enjoying the stories from the writers about how certain scenes came to be.

letsdolunch321 · 01/01/2019 22:43

I found the guy with the veneers very “up himself” - idiot.

cliffdiver · 01/01/2019 22:45

There seemed to be zero chemistry between the 4 boys (men!). I get they haven't worked together for years, but the interactions between them seemed strange and uncomfortable - like they didn't particularly like each other.

Haffdonga · 01/01/2019 22:47

Does anyone know why Emily Atack was axed just before filming?

cliffdiver · 01/01/2019 22:48

@Haffdonga could she have been filming I'm A Celeb?

Sewrainbow · 01/01/2019 22:51

We're disappointed too - thought it was going to be a new episode...

No words for Jimmy Carr, maybe it would have been a better show without him....Hmm

Haffdonga · 01/01/2019 22:52

No, she publicly said she was axed the day before filming which was after I'm a celeb.

Ginseng1 · 01/01/2019 22:55

It's terrible! Was expecting a new episode as well. So boring n awkward.

Crystalblue13 · 01/01/2019 22:56

I love the inbetweeners, I was hoping for a new episode too

Mummy2one2016 · 01/01/2019 22:56

Very disappointed, also thought it was going to be a new episode

Disappointed because of Jimmy Car’s compering.

thenightsky · 01/01/2019 23:12

Just watched it on +1. What a pile of crap. Jimmy Carr must have something on someone high up to get that gig.

Sexist shite and paedophile jokes. Just no. Urgh.

BeMoreKind · 01/01/2019 23:13

How disappointing. I've turned off on +1. So awkward. Hasn't improved my impression after a terrible film 2.

MrsJamieFraser2 · 01/01/2019 23:15

I went to school with Jimmy Carr. He was a sexist, misogynistic, arrogant arsehole then as well.

Jano69 · 01/01/2019 23:16

Awkward. The guys looked so uncomfortable.
