To think a new washing machine might change my life?

I’ve got a 5kg drum machine that I was given when a relative passed, it’s got no instructions and doesn’t exist on google!
I’m constantly overfilling it and then it doesn’t spin and every wash takes hours.
Me and my baby have had a vomiting big over Xmas so I have piles of hideous sicky washing to do and I can’t face it!

I’ve snapoed and spent my Xmas money on a 10kg 1400 spin machine that’s coming on sat! Please tell me this will make a huge difference to my life!

It will

Which brand did you go for?

gamerchick · 27/12/2018 22:24

It will. Big drums are mint Grin

You'll just have more drying to do.

Aquamarine1029 · 27/12/2018 22:26

I would cut off a leg before I give up my washer and dryer. Money well spent.

OrgyofSausages · 27/12/2018 22:28

Yup, gamechanger.Grin

letsdolunch321 · 27/12/2018 22:29

Excellent decision 👍🏻

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 27/12/2018 22:31

I currently have a 6kg but Iv just bought a 9kg eco Bubble addwash that is due on the 30th!

I'm so excited that my heart flutters a little Grin

Could I do a whole king size bedding set (duvet cover, sheet and pillowcases) in a 9kg machine?

FlyingElbows · 27/12/2018 22:32

Honestly my one piece of domestic advice to everyone is buy the biggest capacity washing machine you can and a tumble dryer. Life is too short to spend it doing washing all the damn time.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 27/12/2018 22:33

Ooh I would love a 10kg drum!! Couldn’t give up my 1600spin though! What did you get?

tablelegs · 27/12/2018 22:34

I have a 9kg drum and 1600 spin.

It is the best thing ever.

tablelegs · 27/12/2018 22:35

@Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom I fit superking, 6 pillow cases, fitted sheet and some other things in there so kingsize will be no problem.

LoafEater · 27/12/2018 22:38

I have had a 9kg for a while now, and it is hands down the best thing ever came into this house.

Haffiana · 27/12/2018 22:41

Just be careful about how you load it. They work best with v large loads, and barely work with small loads.

If you underload with unbalnced heavy items, that is put eg one large bath mat or bath sheet in it, it will either not spin at all (the good brands) or it will try (not so good brands) and end up breaking itself.

Fromage · 27/12/2018 22:43

The next machine I buy will be able to wash the entire linen cupboard in one wash.

Good decision, OP. It will revolutionise your life.

TruJay · 27/12/2018 22:49

It will absolutely change your life. I’m excited for you Grin

ginky I have the same one, I love it! The add wash is great

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 27/12/2018 22:52

Oh my gosh I'm even more excited now!

How lucky are we serindipper!

Serendipper · 27/12/2018 22:56

Oh yay! It’s a Bush one from Argos, had brill reviews and less than £200 so I’m hopeful it will be a good buy!
My husband (who does do his fair share of washing) feels bad that I’ve spent Xmas money on it and thinks I should have bought something lovely for myself instead. I see less stress about washing as a lovely thing Wink

I have a 13kg hoover WiFi washer. No idea what the WiFi is about but I love the drum size. Even better is my two tumble driers..... a 10kg and a 9kg so my washing is done super quick.

Totally revolutionised my life

Teacherlikemisstrunchball · 27/12/2018 23:00

We had a crappy washer dryer that we bought as an emergency item when we bought our first house as we desperately needed one RIGHT NOW! It was crapola and I was delighted when it broke Grin This now been replaced by the cheapest one in currys but it has changed my life because it has a one hour long 40 degree cycle and a 15 minute quick wash which means that school uniform can be put through and hung out whilst DCS are in the bath. The quickest wash on our old machine was 2 hours! I also have a very muddy 6 year old, and this cheapo machine gets his stuff spotless! My sister has a really expensive swanky machine, I put ds’s Muddy jeans through hers and they came out still dirty.

Thewifipasswordis · 27/12/2018 23:00

Only if you bought a condenser dryer too or it has one inbuilt 😁

Thewifipasswordis · 27/12/2018 23:01

@Teacherlikemisstrunchball spill the beans what model is it?? ☺

SomethingPhishy · 27/12/2018 23:01

I just went from a 5kg drum 1000rpm spin (13 years old) to a Candy 8kg, 1400rpm spin. Oh. My. God. My life has improved by having the bigger drum & much drier washing when it comes out. Mine is a Candy, under £250. It will be worth it.

Fromage · 27/12/2018 23:03

HellsBells you have given me laundry envy. TWO dryers and a 13kg washer....... you are living the dream, my friend.

Allthewaves · 27/12/2018 23:06

Love my 9kg one but ended up having to get 10kg dryer as burnt my smaller one out overloading

Serendipper · 27/12/2018 23:10

@Thewifipasswordis I already have a condenser dryer! Although that was also a hand me down with no info. It’s a well known one tho so a bit of googling might help me use that more effectively!
