Made a mistake wrapping gifts up.

Just checked Christmas gifts and realised that I have put the wrong tags on half the santa gift :( ran out of tags to cover them all up with santa tags so got a cross over of wrap. Any wise suggestions if little one asks tomorrow? She's nearly 7.

My first thought would be to have a letter from Santa ready saying that you got a beginner elf learning how to do the presents so there are some mistakes but that everything is sorted now because Santa checked everything before he left them.

HopefulCivilServant · 24/12/2018 16:28

What do you mean, OP? Do you mean that you wrote the wrong name on some of your presents?

HopefulCivilServant · 24/12/2018 16:29

I like @DeadDoorpost’s suggestion :)

DeadDoorpost · 24/12/2018 16:30

Obviously doesn't need to be shown unless she notices. But then could always save it by the missing milk or on top of the presents so she can see it before any unwrapping happens.

Fullofthought · 24/12/2018 16:32

I've put mummy on some rather than Santa but have no tags left to correct the tags and as she's 7 she notices things so want to be prepared for if she asks why Santa has used the same paper as mummy has. Think I'll do the letter thanks :)

If you mean that both you and Santa have used the same wrapping paper that'll be fine, that happened to me once when I was a similar age and I was very impressed with my parents for using the same type of paper as Father Christmas Grin

AppleKatie · 24/12/2018 16:33

Hold the phone- you are writing tags on Santa presents? For the love of god why!

DeadDoorpost · 24/12/2018 16:33

No problems! My parents always did personal letters to us from Santa so I guess it stuck in my head.

I've noticed I've written some wrong tags too 🙈🙈 I've luckily got some spare though

As a child all our Santa presents had no tags on them.

Sirzy · 24/12/2018 16:35

Do kids really pay that much attention to wrapping? I think this could possibly be a case of you over thinking

LaPampa · 24/12/2018 16:36

Unwrap them all & have a rule Santa doesn’t use paper?! Much easier - Santa never used paper when I was little easier

brizzledrizzle · 24/12/2018 16:48

"Dear LittleFullofThought,

I hope that you love the presents. Unfortunately some of them might be a little muddled up - those pesky elves that came with me to help were, unknown to me, having a little of the at every house and I suspect it has made them a little careless with the labels on the presents.

Anyway, please don't worry, they will be shovelling out Rudolph's enclosure for weeks when we finally get back to the North Pole.

Love
Santa/Father Christmas

I can’t believe how people tie themselves in knots with this shit!

placebobebo · 24/12/2018 16:54

Just cut the tags of the ones from Santa.

placebobebo · 24/12/2018 16:54

*off

Ffsnosexallowed · 24/12/2018 16:54

We've never put tags on santa gifts.?just take them all off?

BoomBoomsCousin · 24/12/2018 16:58

How would a letter from Santa saying his elves were new to the job/a bit tipsy explain how come some of the presents that mum has bought. wrapped and signed are wrapped in Santa's wrapping paper?

Surely better to just be amazed and a bit smug that you managed to choose the some of the same paper as Santa this year?

ommmward · 24/12/2018 17:00

Find a few Christmas cards where the sender has only written on the same side of the card as the printed message. Look at the picture. Might it be trimmed down into 2+ gift labels from Santa? Cut the writing part off. If you want to be proper Blue Peter, use pinking shears, and use a hole punch and a piece of string/wool to do the attaching with.

Bob's your uncle.

I never buy gift labels :)

chemenger · 24/12/2018 17:03

Santa doesn’t use tags in our house, life is too short.

TedAndLola · 24/12/2018 17:04

Just take the tags off. No need to make things complicated!

Frankswife87 · 24/12/2018 17:04

Ok no worries! Our kids get told that santa brings one or two presents and mum and dad help with the rest because as you can imagine santa couldn't possibly manage with all those extra present on his sleigh , poor Rudolf! Just take tags off one or two and say they are off santa simples Xmas Wink

AngelinaNeurosurgeon · 24/12/2018 17:09

It was only last year (so decade after my DC ceased to be believers) that it occurred to me I had been doing something wrong in all the years of FC visiting. We used to put a carrot out for the reindeer and a mince pie. I would then leave a few crumbs on the plate from the mince pie and the top of the carrot which Rudolph left.
But why did I do that? It meant that FC must have been coming down the chimney, grabbing the carrot, taking it on the roof, then making another trip down the chimney to return the carrot stub. Which looking at it now just wasn't logical as Santa has enough to do making ONE trip down the chimney, let alone the 2, given the time constraints and volume of visits required
So the moral of this is that the kids never noticed and neither will yours notice any discrepancies either Grin

Justgivemesomepeace · 24/12/2018 17:13

Just take the tags off. None of the kids presents from us (santa) have tags on. They just each have their own paper so i know who they are for.

jasmine1971 · 24/12/2018 17:16

Leave the wrapping paper on the landing outside your room and feign outrage when you find out Father Christmas has pinched your wrapping paper - I have got away with this for 16 years now! (obviously different children lol!)
