that life's too short?

Or should we only be posting about terribly serious weighty matters like death, famine and pestilence?

Thank you dinosaur. I was a species of dinosaur when I first registered, but changed quickly as I didn't want to cramp your style.

kookaburra · 26/06/2007 18:57

Its the frivolous ones that keep me sane - keep 'em coming

I like the bucket thread.
Like others say sometimes you need to talk about rubbish!! And that's very important, IM(not very)HO.

bohemianbint · 26/06/2007 19:55

Haha - littlelapin, that puts it all entirely into perspective...

nickytwotimes · 26/06/2007 19:57

i liked your bucket thread, too, fwiw.

StarryStarryNight · 26/06/2007 20:01

complete nonsense but a great laugh!

Slubberdegullion · 26/06/2007 20:33

Hey hey, that was a totally serious thread. That's my village reputation you're laughing at there.

DontAskMeToJudgeCupCakeComps · 26/06/2007 20:37

lol

Slubberdegullion · 26/06/2007 20:37

Oh I liked your bucket thread too bohemianbint.

ballybally · 26/06/2007 20:39

I almost posted to ask if anyone else had gotten pooed on today, then realised it would not be a terribly auspicious first post. It certainly felt weighty at the time, tho...

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 20:41

you are being totally unreasonable. Frivolity should be banned form Mumsnet, in fact now I come to think of it the name itself is a little too frivolous for my liking, should immediately be renamed MothersInternet

Kewcumber · 26/06/2007 20:42

ballybally - I spent bath-time fishing poo out of the bath with a stacking cup. Thats not frivolous comes under the heading of pestilence I think

Boco · 26/06/2007 20:50

Ohhh, i misread this thread, thought bb wanted to have a random frivolous crap, not talk about it. Just came to see what this involved. Thought it might've been in someones garden or something.

bohemianbint · 27/06/2007 10:00

PMSL - I was wondering if I'd got off far too lightly with never having to deal with a poo in the bath incident. I thought maybe babies just instinctively knew to hang on to it until you got them out and just before you got them back into a nappy?

But here's me assuming we're talking about scooping baby poo out of the bath...?

OP posts:
Katy44 · 27/06/2007 10:23

bohemianbint - I wondered that! When people say have a relaxing bath with your baby (normally to help with bf) - do you stop relaxing when he wees and poos in the water? Do you even notice wees (urgh)
I agree with the OP on this most serious subject. Why does everything have to be doom, gloom and incredibly serious? Yes we're lucky to be able to post about frivolous stuff but surely that means we shouldn't waste the opportunity?
Can I just make a stand for the pedants (I am one with terrible spelling and grammar!) Every time there is a pedant thread people come on saying "stop finding fault with people who come onto MN to seek help". They'd have a point if the grammar of any post was being discussed, but normally it's "3 items or less" signs in M&S. Totally agree that someone who comes on asking about their child's allergy shouldn't be mocked for switching it's and its, when it's probably a typo anyway, and if not who cares!
Rant over
BTW I saw "Key's cut while you wait" in Sainsbury's the other day

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 10:27

can I just say I've just read the bucket thread and I think the life's too short and the SAHM comment were made in a joking way (well the SAHM one was definitely)
Or am I taking THIS thread all too seriously??
Where's the SAHM argument?

oliveoil · 27/06/2007 10:29

my car thread has turned into a SAHM v WOHM debate

ffs

I only wanted a mercedes

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 10:30

I know the one
I'll go and read it now
Or should I go in the shower while DS is still asleep?
Or shall I clean the bathroom?
Help me!!

Kewcumber · 27/06/2007 10:32

OO - I know you are cross but the turn your obviously tongue in cheek thread took made me laugh for hours

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 10:34

well he woke up so MN with a baby on my knee it is

Kewcumber · 27/06/2007 10:36

being clean and having a clean bathroom are very over-rated in my opinion

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 10:37

not when my mum's coming round
she of the white gloves (no, she's not a mime!)
Speaking of which, did anyone watch wife swap last night?
