""So Henry wasn't always so tough""
""Some days he couldn't steam and puff""
""But then his crew have him special coal""
""Which made his sixteen green wheels roll""
what's in the special coal eh?

""Snow and ice don't bother him""
"Instead they help his wheels to spin""
is that what the kids call it these days?

""Here he comes" the children cheer""
" "the happiest train, all through the year""
What's making you so happy dude?

I thought Henry was bricked up in a tunnel?!

NopeNi · 23/12/2018 17:33

Anything that helps you survive a boss who locks you in a fucking tunnel when you have anxiety IMO.

RB68 · 23/12/2018 17:33

There is a special grade of coal for steam - its much higher grade :-)

NopeNi · 23/12/2018 17:34

X-post Grin

waxy1 · 23/12/2018 17:36

With Welsh coal he’d be a different engine.

SleepingStandingUp · 23/12/2018 17:48

The Fat Controller did what?? We don't have that book.

Was it anxiety or pride? He certainly didn't want to to get his paint wet.

Either way he didn't deserve immurement.

NopeNi · 23/12/2018 18:06

Maybe it was just the TV series? I remember this being so upsetting!

To think Henry is on drugs
AnOtherNomdePlume · 23/12/2018 18:28

It was in a book we had too.

cooblanket · 23/12/2018 18:31

WTF why did he brick him in?Shock

brizzledrizzle · 23/12/2018 18:38

I thought Henry was bricked up in a tunnel?!

Yes, he went to a train rehab clinic to detox.

brizzledrizzle · 23/12/2018 18:39

Spoiler alert - the real reason poor Henry was in the tunnel

Sandsnake · 23/12/2018 18:40

Next time could we have a trigger warning for anything relating to Henry being bricked up in a tunnel please...

waxy1 · 23/12/2018 18:42

Drugs?

Edward ain’t as old as he looks and that’s all I’m sayin’.

waxy1 · 23/12/2018 18:42

Don’t get me started about Toby the Tramadol Engine!

foxtiger · 23/12/2018 18:43

brizzledrizzle I've never seen the programme and only read the books, but I loved this detail in your link: "Edward always toots hello with his whistle, while Gordon always laughs saying it serves him right." Edward is my favourite character in the books (in my head he's Sam Elliott) and that sounds really in character for him.

waxy1 · 23/12/2018 18:49

I’m most worried about the mainline engines.

liverbird10 · 23/12/2018 18:57

I thought you meant Thierry Henry when I saw the title, and was temporarily baffled. Grin

smurfy2015 · 23/12/2018 19:01

I thought you meant Henry the vacuum cleaner

IncomingCannonFire · 23/12/2018 19:02

This is why Thomas gives my son nightmares! So sanctimonious and abusive too.

MrsMoastyToasty · 23/12/2018 19:03

I thought you meant Prince Harry.

DayAtTheRaces · 23/12/2018 19:13

I thought you mean Prince Harry (his given name is Henry). There have been rumours I’ve seen on some online forums about him (and the SoHo House crowd he mingles with) consuming something rather stronger than the cannabis he once smoked......he has been seen on a few occasions with red or dilated eyes, doing a lot of scratching, unable to keep still, scruffy demeanour (holes in shoes, clothes not pressed or ironed, hair a mess/not trimmed with neck hair etc.) especially on the tour Down Under......

DappledThings · 23/12/2018 19:20

I thought it would be Henry from The Archers

Justanotherlurker · 23/12/2018 19:22

From the title I thought you was talking about Henry the hoover, in which case he has been caught on film

waxy1 · 23/12/2018 19:25

You mean it’s not Henry the Navigator?
