How can either of those long distance relationships last ...

Cameron Diaz and Jude Law were definitely doomed

How long do you think Graham cried for before he pulled another bit of posh totty in the pub?

redandyellowandpinkandgreen99 · 23/12/2018 14:33

They never really explained if Jack Black and Cameron Diaz moved to the UK did they? Transcontinental relationships can't work long term. One would have to move to where the other is.

Good film though. Smile

Elderflower14 · 23/12/2018 14:35

I'd love Jude Law to turn up at mine at silly o clock. I'd lock him in and never let him out!!! 😂 😂 😂
Having said that I did fancy Jack Black in the film too.

Tistheseason17 · 23/12/2018 14:36

Noooooooo!!
They all moved to live with each other and lived happily ever after - those kids were soooo cute!!!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen99 · 23/12/2018 14:36

Jude Law is fucking gorgeous in 'The Holiday.'

I like Jack Black, but couldn't fancy him if they'd done making men sorry.......

MyPoodleisWorthTenofYou · 23/12/2018 14:36

Kate had more chemistry with the old man than she did with Jack Black.

HollowTalk · 23/12/2018 14:38

Jack Black turns my stomach in that film.

And who decided to call Jude Law "Graham"???

AllYeFaithful · 23/12/2018 14:38

I reckon Cameron moves to the Cotswolds, marries Jude & has a baby. She can do her voiceover work from anywhere in the world.

Kate & Jack...I think she eventually gets it on with one of Jude’s eligible pub mates and gently breaks it off with Jack (he is devastated).

I know it’s not real Grin

redandyellowandpinkandgreen99 · 23/12/2018 14:40

LOL @Hollowtalk GRAHAM is a naff name for the character.

GreyGardens88 · 23/12/2018 14:41

I've never made it through the whole film, may give it another try tonight

Rhubarbisevil · 23/12/2018 14:42

Graham Greene. Iris Murdoch. Literary references.

ElspethFlashman · 23/12/2018 14:44

Honestly the reason I've never watched it is Jack Black as a romantic lead. His agent deserved an award for that one.

And Kate Winslet irrationally annoys me. She always comes across quite sharp and annoyed in interviews.

Elderflower14 · 23/12/2018 15:20

Oh and as I always say in anything Holiday related..... CARY GRANT WAS BORN IN BRISTOL NOT SURREY!!!!!!!

VickyEadie · 23/12/2018 15:25

Can we nitpick on what actually happens in the film?

Winslet is a journalist - not paid exactly stacky-millions - who owns a picture-perfect cottage in Surrey.

Winslet and Diaz both get flights for the next day at Christmas (I'd believe that Diaz could afford it if a flight were available, but Winslet?).

Winslet leaves her dog alone whilst she fecks off to the States and then to be cared for by a complete stranger.

Both can get in the houses with no assistance from anyone else involved.

I'm sure there are others...

Oysterbabe · 23/12/2018 15:29

I've never seen it, hadn't even heard of it until a friend was talking about it recently. Must give it a try.

Jack black turns my stomach is every film he’s in

BeanTownNancy · 23/12/2018 15:40

Winslet needs to leave her job anyway because she works with a knob. So she totally moves to LA. Her and Jack Black pootle along dating for a bit before realising its not working, break up amicably and stay friends. He meets another bitch and gets taken advantage of again, because people never really learn. She meets an older guy (but not the old man) and is happy.

I give Jude Law and Cameron Diaz a year at most. He can't move his kids to LA just for her, and she won't be happy in the UK -
she loves her job too much and is excellent at it. They are totally doomed, but have come out of the relationship better people.

I may have been overthinking this...

Amanduh · 23/12/2018 17:06

Yabvvvvvu they all live happily ever after

TheRhythmessCarolMan · 23/12/2018 17:12

The acting is appalling in that film. So OTT. Jude Law is the only character I don't roll my eyes at. And it's a bloody impressive cast! Maybe it's poor direction or something.

Highginx · 23/12/2018 17:23

It’s a good cast but I don’t think Cameron Diaz can act for toffee.

TheRhythmessCarolMan · 23/12/2018 17:46

At least she looks nice

LittleBot178 · 23/12/2018 17:53

I watched this for the first time recently. Cameron cannot act for shit, Jude was so wasted on her.

MawkishTwaddle · 23/12/2018 17:56

I can’t believe how much they all drink in it. And Cameron Diaz drives home in an unfamiliar car, on the ‘wrong’ side of the road in the snow - after necking a bottle of red while shopping!

VickyEadie · 23/12/2018 18:16

I know! We said, as soon as she started drinking the wine in the shop, "But she's driving!
