To be annoyed at Ocado for overcharging...

Does anyone bother counting the number of bags charged for, vs the number of bags actually received?

On the 2 occasions I've actually checked, I've been overcharged by a third. This delivery I was charged for 24 bags, but I've only been given 18 bags. It may be only 30p per delivery, but it still feels dishonest.

That’s crap I agree.

JustTwoMoreSecs · 22/12/2018 23:35

I always count! They overcharge by 2-3 bags sometimes, I wonder if it is because the driver takes some big items out of bags to take them inside (loo roll, water etc).

Lazypuppy · 22/12/2018 23:38

Tesco isn't per bag,if you want your order packed with bags it costs 40p regardlessof how many they use.

Maybe ocado are the same?

LittleBearPad · 22/12/2018 23:39

In the next delivery you give them all back and get the money back. It’s not really that big a deal is it.

SoupDragon · 22/12/2018 23:43

Its easy enough to get a refund for the incorrect number of bags - there is a specific option for this. TBH, it's often more than balanced out by them refunding me for more bags than I returned though.

I think the drivers sometimes repack stupidly packed bags so your delivery started with the right number but you end up receiving less.

No, Ocado is per bag.

Melfish · 22/12/2018 23:46

They don’t count the number of bags received every time- sometimes I’m sure I’ve given back more. This week I had 3 spare bags with nothing in them with my order!

sahknowme · 22/12/2018 23:50

LittleBearPad - how does that work? So I've been given 18 bags, instead of 24 bags, and been charged for 24 bags. So next time they come, how do I get a refund for 24 bags, when I only have 18 bags??

Tesco in Ireland comes in crates which are unpacked on the kitchen counter. Works wonderfully. You get to see what's delivered immediately and any damaged items etc.
Much prefer to the Ocado bags we got in UK.

CheshireChat · 23/12/2018 00:12

If you give them back to the driver, you'll get refunded for all of them- so you'll get 50p for 10 etc.

Jamiefraserskilt · 23/12/2018 01:28

Asda do this. Asked for bagless delivery, get charged for bags.
Few people will query 40p.
If they do this on every delivery, they must be making a fortune!

ExFury · 23/12/2018 01:44

Asda do this. Asked for bagless delivery, get charged for bags.

My last 3 Asda deliveries have been the opposite - pay for bags and it comes bagless. They seemed really put out when I complained as if ‘it’s only 40p’ (even though the crux of my complaint is getting shopping upstairs to the flat with no bags is a pita)

currentcake · 23/12/2018 01:52

@ExFury my last ASDA delivery I was charged for bags and didn't receive any and when I questioned the delivery driver about this he said it's all he's heard all week. It seems the system is down but that doesn't excuse the amount of money they must have made on people paying for bags they didn't receive. As someone else said it may only be 40p but this is 40p of my hard earned cash!

Shelley54 · 23/12/2018 02:46

I often find they take bags off my order without me even knowing they were there - assume they leave them in the van.

I also find they’re very generous with taking 5ps off your order whether you’ve given them a correct number or not. So I might return 7 but they’ll knock off for ten.

If you’re particularly bothered then tweeting them or giving customer services a call will probably result in a refund / a voucher.

TakeMe2Insanity · 23/12/2018 06:08

You just email ocado, say you’ve receivd 18 bags instead of 24 and you’d like a refund. Normally they give you the refund.

Toomanycats99 · 23/12/2018 06:12

I had this with Asda - I rang them to complain and they did refund bag charge.

Last Ocado delivery refunded me way more bags than I had as well! Drive say oh 'x' and I sAid no about 'y' and he said no 'x'!

Soontobe60 · 23/12/2018 06:15

1st world problems🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Purplelion · 23/12/2018 06:59

24 bags for you shopping is ridiculous. Can’t uou choose no bags and just unpack it from crates? Seems such a waste!

impostersyndrome · 23/12/2018 07:06

OP I agree it’s annoying. There’s a simple solution though: log into your account and go to the return section. They have an option there for returning bags. I’ve done this before when bags came torn or with spilled goods.

To the pp who suggested it: There is no option for bag less,

Furball · 23/12/2018 07:17

They don't count how many bags you return they go by how many you say - so just say the amount you were charged for last time

VioletCharlotte · 23/12/2018 07:22

Ask for bagless delivery and stop wasting plastic!

Vitalogy · 23/12/2018 07:35

I count them every time. Virtually always wrong, I get a refund.

SoupDragon · 23/12/2018 08:48

You just email ocado, say you’ve receivd 18 bags instead of 24 and you’d like a refund

Or just request it online/on the app. It's easy.

Ask for bagless delivery and stop wasting plastic!

Ocado don't do a bagless delivery. They recycle all the bags so they aren't wasted though.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/12/2018 09:11

Ocado don't do a bagless delivery.

That's appalling!

SoupDragon · 23/12/2018 09:14

All the bags are made from recycled plastic bags and are recycled into plastic bags.
