To be annoyed at Ocado for overcharging...

Does anyone bother counting the number of bags charged for, vs the number of bags actually received?

On the 2 occasions I've actually checked, I've been overcharged by a third. This delivery I was charged for 24 bags, but I've only been given 18 bags. It may be only 30p per delivery, but it still feels dishonest.

They also take back bags from other supermarkets.

They do the refund option on the regular version too.

I get this too. The drivers reduce the number of bags they give you. Then they forget to record it.

As you say, it's only pennies, but it's really irritating.

The way the bags are packed is annoying too - a higgledy piggledy jumble of yoghurt cartons and soft fruit tossed in a bag with heavy cans thrown on top.

As you say, it's only pennies, but it's really irritating. Reminds me of this phrase "Take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves". Courtesy of my mum Xmas Smile

When you hand the bags back tell the driver and he can put it right

I've never had this as far as I know by I have checked occasionally. Out of curiosity.
I have had them take stuff out at the door - when only one item has been in the bag but they've included that in the returns number.

And ime they always refund me more bags than I return - they never count, always estimate over. Plus they accept bags from other stores too.

So even if they did over charge me on bags occasionally it would be more than compensated for in how many they say I return.

Unpacking from the crates would work for me some weeks, but not every time. Sometimes I don't unpack straight away, or we might be taking some stuff elsewhere / so a bag works better. The Christmas shop I had lots and didn't want to unpack immediately as needed to figure where it was all going. Plus it must mean you've the delivery driver waiting around much longer. Would be fine if they left the crates and collected them next time, but can't see that working for the stores.

Just tell the driver there’s 24 bags. He won’t check. Or shove another 6 random bags in. They’ll take any bags back and recycle them.

I have found this mighty annoying and wondered if anyone has experienced the same. The software they use predicts the number of bags required using via algorithms. They get it wrong every single time here and we have to request a refund for each delivery! Hopefully after a few complaints they will update the software or train staff to adjust automatically
