WIBU to park here?

Went to do a supermarket shop today-big retail park type place with millions of spaces but all full --what with every other git having had the same plan as me

Drove round a few times but no spaces, toddler wakes up from napping and starts yelling like a banshee....so I thought nah, fuck this shit, and parked in one of the spaces for electric cars. I should point out that there was an entire row of these-we're talking a good 12-15 spaces, and only a quarter of them were occupied

Anyway, got us out the car and someone walking past makes a comment along the lines of 'you know those are for electric cars don't you?' To which I smiled and gave a jolly double thumbs up back

My view is, there were loads of these spaces, and it's not like I was taking up a disabled space. When I told my mum though she was HORRIFIED because society has rules and I'm clearly some kind of anarchist. I was like, it's Christmas mum-who dares wins!

So, WIBU?!

The thing is if everyone has your attitude there won't be any left.

peakSafeSpace · 21/12/2018 14:11

Gazelda · 21/12/2018 14:12

Are you happy for people without young children to use parent and child spaces?

Ballbags · 21/12/2018 14:15

Jolly double thumbs up?
Christ, the world really is full of entitled twats.

Dirtygirtyisthirty · 21/12/2018 14:16

YANBU.

SoupDragon · 21/12/2018 14:16

Are these spaces for electric cars only though?

blackteasplease · 21/12/2018 14:17

If you got away with I wonder why you are asking on here!

GabriellaMontez · 21/12/2018 14:17

I can't believe someone actually felt strongly enough to set you straight. I'm intrigued. Who ? What kind of busybody polices the electric car spaces.

Yanbu. I just don't care.

BobLemon · 21/12/2018 14:18

I work for a company that has EV charging spaces at their premises.

YANBU :)

AdobeWanKenobi · 21/12/2018 14:18

Ok, imagine you are really low on petrol and needed to fill up to get home. You get to the petrol station and someone has parked in front of the pump and buggered off. Would you be impressed?

YWBU

SoupDragon · 21/12/2018 14:19

A petrol forecourt isn't a car park though.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 21/12/2018 14:19

YABU and selfish.

SoupDragon · 21/12/2018 14:20

Anyway, a quick google shows that you can't park in council run charging spaces, even if you have an electric car but aren't charging. Places like supermarkets you need to check their signs.

ethelfleda · 21/12/2018 14:21
Hmm
MakeAHouseAHome · 21/12/2018 14:21

YABU, selfish and entitled.

AdobeWanKenobi · 21/12/2018 14:21

A petrol forecourt isn't a car park though

Well done it's not. Have you seen many forecourts for EV's? No? Thats because they are all on car parks and don't exist.

The analogy is the same, OP is blocking someone from refuelling be that petrol or electricity.

SoupDragon · 21/12/2018 14:23

The analogy is the same

It really isn't but you carry on.

AdobeWanKenobi · 21/12/2018 14:25

snarferson · 21/12/2018 14:26

OP Santa will bring you coal Wink

Biancadelriosback · 21/12/2018 14:26

While I understand the frustration and the temptation, YABU. I do get annoyed by people using P&C spaces when they don't have kids and I wouldn't like someone parking at the petrol pump when I need to use it (electric spaces are there so people can charge the cars yes?)
