To want to murder everyone

Made the mistake of going Xmas shopping today thinking it would be quieter than tomorrow. Disaster! So many people milling aimlessly around, walking sooo slowly, stopping stock still suddenly in front of me. I wrapped up warm and the shops are all so bloody hot! The whole experience has given me the rage and a twitchy eye Grin

I'm going tomorrow, I need my nails done. I hate this time of yeah and we're going food shopping tonight.

TheFaerieQueene · 21/12/2018 12:39

I don’t understand why people get so upset with people stopping in front of them? No doubt you stop when you see something you want to look at. There will be people behind you then!

purpleface · 21/12/2018 12:39

YANBU so much for online shopping killing the high street!

Sparklfairy · 21/12/2018 12:41

TheFaerieQueene it's more the oblivious spatial awareness and lack of warning. At least I try to be vaguely aware of my surroundings Grin

Yanbu op! It also gives me the rage. This year instead of battling around Sainsbo's for our Christmas food shop I. Shall be getting it delivered, let's see how much of it actually turns up on Sunday Gin

Frankswife87 · 21/12/2018 12:44

I forgot to add that for this very reason I do my Christmas present shopping online! Grin

hmmhohmmm · 21/12/2018 12:46

I think that's a fairly extreme reaction but I understand OP 💐

Lottapianos · 21/12/2018 12:49

I hear you OP. The aimless shuffling, wandering about with heads in phones, total lack of awareness of anyone else. Gives me the rage

Bliss3333 · 21/12/2018 12:49

I spent yesterday at the office. My new deskmate decided to endear herself to all of us by blasting carols and singing out of tune. For the full 8 hours. Sadly, no one had a flamethrower.

Raspberry88 · 21/12/2018 12:51

YADNBU! I went to Sainsbury's yesterday for my normal shop, all I wanted was some potatoes and I could have cried! Grown men pushing and shoving...lots of people stopping at the end of aisles to chat and they were restocking so every aisle had a trolley so no room to get a pushchair down. I forget every year that it will be like this! No wonder online shopping is so popular!

Sparklfairy · 21/12/2018 12:51

I'll admit I'm a very impatient shopper. Knew exactly what I wanted. Plan was to just grab and go. The shopping zombies made that impossible! Doing the food shop tonight or tomorrow as dm drives and I don't. We don't need too much as it's just us two this year. The meat, pigs in blankets, stuffing. Have everything else already. But the thought of braving the aisles, most likely with half empty shelves makes me consider just starving instead! Grin

Bah humbug

I had to get a few last minute bits from Tesco.

Has anyone seen Dawn of the Dead? The zombie film set mostly in a shopping mall?

It was like that Xmas Smile

RingThoseChristmasBells · 21/12/2018 12:56

I have just been. Everyone was so slow and just stopped in the middle of the aisle. I could have done with Gru from Despicable Me clearing the way, when he was having a bad, bad day. Mind you at least I didn't have to take the dcs with me.

needsleepzzz · 21/12/2018 12:58

Urgh i'm off to brave it at 8am tomorrow, with toddler in tow! Need to take supplies to keep her quiet/entertained!

RingThoseChristmasBells · 21/12/2018 12:59

I was upset because I wanted to unpack the car and shopping before dcs school finished early. Because everyone was so slow I don't have time and now their lunch will be late as I have to unload the car after picking them up. I've been waiting for twenty minutes as there wasn't time to go home and come back.Angry

paintinmyhairAgain · 21/12/2018 13:02

our town is full of zombies and their phones every day of the year. gave it up about 3 years ago and now do 85 % shopping on line, only go into town under extreme sufferance, then can't wait to get home again, it really is that bad.

paintinmyhairAgain · 21/12/2018 13:04

athena yes, great movie, they filmed it in my neck of the woods Grin also love 'shaun of the dead' too - totally brilliant !

Theunsungsong · 21/12/2018 13:04

Dawn of the Dead, excellent film!

Sorry. I am one of those people who stops suddenly or randomly changes direction like a dying fly.

My dh hates it, but I have very little spatial awareness (I can't tell left from right etc) so it is hard to control.

ShadyLady53 · 21/12/2018 13:05

Just a polite reminder that some people genuinely cannot help a lack of spatial awareness. I was shopping last week with my mother in a busy shopping centre and she drifted about 3 inches (genuinely only about that) to her right. The young woman with a small child who was pretty much tailgating her threw up her hands in the air and made absolutely furious face, about to fly into a rage. Luckily, I saw it and just turned around and said "I'm sorry about that, my Mum has had a series of strokes recently and sometimes struggles with her coordination". She instantly put on the biggest, fakest smile and went "that's okay!" while she giggled away. My Mum looked mortified and said, "did I walk in front of her?" and I replied whilst the woman was still in earshot, "only very slightly and she was walking very closely behind you trying to force you to hurry. When you went slightly to the right, she threw up her hands and started making faces like she was about to fly into a rage." Said woman sheepishly wandered off.

Previous to that we'd been walking at a normal, not slow, pace and were caught up in the crowds as much as anyone else. There was nowhere out of the way we could have went. It was the first time Mum was out in town since having her purse stolen from her only the week before and it was supposed to help her get her confidence back. She's only 73 and still works. Since that incident she's been feeling like she shouldn't go out at all.

So please just have a bit of consideration. Yes, people are going to stop and look at things, they have a right too. Most of us are busy and stressed but that doesn't give people an excuse to be nasty and take their stress out on other members of the public. Tis the season of Goodwill To All Men after all.

NancyDonahue · 21/12/2018 13:05

It's like the Hunger Games out there!

Athena51 · 21/12/2018 13:05

paintinmyhairAgain

I love a zombie film. Agree that Shaun of the Dead is hilarious.

LeggyLinda · 21/12/2018 13:06

YANBU
The only bit in your OP I may disagree with is “XMAS”. In my local town it’s like that most of the time - there’s obviously a serious gorm drought round here. Hinderers either meandering around like zombies or jumping out of doorways into moving traffic or suddenly stopping or deliberately / changing direction to walk directly at you.
Maybe we’re just grumpy or busy 😜

paintinmyhairAgain · 21/12/2018 13:08

shady that was horrible what happened to your mum. yes, there are people with spatial awareness problems et al but most of them seem to be gawping at their bloody phones or are just zoned out then are rude when you call them out on it.

LakieLady · 21/12/2018 13:09

Due to my refusal to do it all ON MY OWN again, DP still has to buy presents for all his side of the family. As he was up early this morning, I suggested we go shopping together.

He couldn't be arsed, so he can bloody well do it on his own at the weekend, when it will be really busy.

In fairness, he did a lot of the food shopping yesterday. We've put a joint of beef in the freezer and are going to see if we can get a bargain reduced turkey on Christmas Eve; if not, it'll be beef for Christmas Day.

paintinmyhairAgain · 21/12/2018 13:10

leggy do you live in west sussex by any chance ? if so we might be in the same area Grin
