Ok so we love pigs in blankets but we’re having a guest on xmas who doesn’t eat pork or bacon so are the any alternatives that people have tried. ie. turkey bacon with chicken sausages?! (Haven’t tried it, wondering if anyone else has?) thanks!

Think I saw veggie ones at Iceland. Or M and S. Hang on, I'll Google.

isseywithcats · 19/12/2018 20:13

veggie sausages with fake bacon wrapped round or as they are such a small part of a dinner your guest probably wont bother with an alternative

RogueV · 19/12/2018 20:13

You can buy some great halal turkey bacon

Timeforabiscuit · 19/12/2018 20:14

Morrisons have some nice looking mushroom, potato and tomatoe wrapped in aubergine as a vegan pigs in blanket.

usernamerisnotavailable · 19/12/2018 20:15

Turkey bacon and chicken sausages.

Windgate · 19/12/2018 20:17

Chicken sausages, veggie haggis rolled into a sausage shape, small stick of cheddar or a stoned prune wrapped in a strip of turkey bacon.

FestiveNut · 19/12/2018 20:17

Apparently Morrisons have vegan ones. Dunno about the other two though.

Itsear · 19/12/2018 20:18

Quote mini sausages are nice, they also do a bacon substitute though I’ve not tried it

TheGonnagle · 19/12/2018 20:20

Turkey bacon wrapped around halloumi?

Careylisa · 19/12/2018 20:38

Also recommend the Morrison’s vegan pigs in blankets, just bought some for my brother to have for Xmas dinner and I’ll probably try them myself they look so good!

PurpleDaisies · 19/12/2018 20:39

Sainsbury’s shroom dogs are lovely. Just leave off the bacon.

AdaColeman · 19/12/2018 20:46

Vegetarian sausage with just a spiral of puff pastry twisted around it.

White pudding slices.

CottonTailRabbit · 19/12/2018 20:47

Person who doesn't eat pork just doesn't eat the pigs and has extra other bits?

Waffles80 · 19/12/2018 20:47

Dates wrapped in veggie bacon. Surprisingly nice!

PurpleDaisies · 19/12/2018 20:51

Doesn’t white pudding have pork in it?

DorisToday · 19/12/2018 20:53

Halloumi with thin strips of aubergine wrapped around. You fry /grill the aubergine first to make it bendy. Yum.

IchWill · 19/12/2018 20:54

Holland and Barrett do a good vegan bacon.

Flatwhite32 · 19/12/2018 20:59

Halloumi is good. Also, this sounds really random but is absolutely delicious - dates wrapped in bacon! My friend made me try them in Majorca as part of a tapas meal, and they were delicious!

PurpleDaisies · 19/12/2018 20:59

I love halloumi but I don’t think it goes with the rest of a Christmas dinner at all.

Wheresmrlion · 19/12/2018 21:01

Waitrose are doing nice looking ‘squashed in blankets’, roast squash and chestnuts in puff pastry that looks like pigs in blankets, they look yum.

VioletCharlotte · 19/12/2018 21:01

Morrison's are selling vegan pigs in blankets.

RogueV · 19/12/2018 21:55
