Pork/Bacon alternatives for pigs in blankets!

Ok so we love pigs in blankets but we’re having a guest on xmas who doesn’t eat pork or bacon so are the any alternatives that people have tried. ie. turkey bacon with chicken sausages?! (Haven’t tried it, wondering if anyone else has?) thanks!

Surely this is a “fab, all the more for me” situation ????

Quorn does vegetarian bacon and vegetarian full size sausages and cocktail sausages...

You could make some up of your own and tell your guest they are completely meat free and bacon free by showing them the packaging

Oh my goodness so glad I clicked on this thread. Morrison’s here I come.

IMO the best veggie sausages are the Linda McCartney ones. I have never come across a decent veggie bacon alternative. I would go with Turkey rashers round any sausage that doesn't contain pork.

White pudding is still pork.
I see a couple of posters have said Morrisons. I've seen them in either Lidl or Aldi too.

Just be sure if you are trying to be inclusive that you aren’t introducing allergens to the menu. Something like a traditional pig in a blanket is safe for me, but the veggie versions often contain allergenic grains.

Hohocabbage · 20/12/2018 00:10

Surely OP is trying to be inclusive of the people she is actually feeding, if any guest mentioned specific allergen issues she could avoid them just as she is the pig issue.

Not all white puddings contain pork, the main ingredients are oatmeal, onion and beef suet. Look for traditional Scottish mealy pudding for the pork free version.
