To ask Santa or Parents

Just a curious thread really.

At Christmas who do you tell your DC/DSC brought their presents.

Santa/Father Christmas or you their parents? Or a mixture of the two?

OP posts:

A mixture

GreenDinosaur · 19/12/2018 19:09

Parents/friends/family. We label stocking presents as "from Santa" but it's just a bit of a joke and I don't try to convince DS it's actually real.

TheGreenDot · 19/12/2018 19:09

One presant from FC the rest from us.

TheGreenDot · 19/12/2018 19:10

Oh yes stocking from FC
Our are only 3 and 1.

bitingcat · 19/12/2018 19:10

Santa just gets the stocking with little bits and pieces, we or family get the big presents. It's just how mine and dp's families have always done it. I was glad that do and I wanted to do it the same way, saved some awkward family situations!

ChocolateTearDrops · 19/12/2018 19:10

Father Christmas brings the stocking gifts. All other presents are from the name on the tag.

Camomila · 19/12/2018 19:11

1 from father christmas
1 from parents

Stocking on the 6th of Jan

ShiningSally · 19/12/2018 19:12

When mine we're younger the main present from parents the rest from father christmas.

KipperTheFrog · 19/12/2018 19:12

Santa does the stockings. Everything else is from those who bought it.

PoutySprout · 19/12/2018 19:14

Have never said anything. She makes her own mind up. (We haven’t pushed Santa on her as a real thing but she’s heard about it (constantly) from everyone else.)

bitingcat · 19/12/2018 19:15

Dd's best friend at primary school had all presents from Santa. It led to a difficult conversation with dd! My Dp came up with a great explanation though; families like to do things their own way, so when a child is born you have to fill in a form which explains how your family want Santa, the tooth fairy etc to act! Worked a treat and dd believed it for years! Wink

strawberrypenguin · 19/12/2018 19:17

Stocking and one labelled present under tree and from Santa.
Rest are from us or whoever gifted them. Santa delivers them all though.

ALemonyPea · 19/12/2018 19:20

All presents from Santa, same as what happened to both myself and DH as children.

They also get presents they know are off family/friends.

DappledThings · 19/12/2018 19:24

What she said

Torsz · 19/12/2018 19:27

We had everything from Father Christmas so I think I'll do the same when little one comes along...although I could be tempted to do one big present from us so we can take a little credit 😂

EmeraldShamrock · 19/12/2018 19:30

Both. Usually the main present is from the parents, Santa brings the surprises.

Bambini12 · 19/12/2018 19:30

All presents from me Grin I want the credit. DD(7) has picked up believing in Santa from relatives and kids at school, not sure how the logistics work in her head as we make it clear who her presents are from.

eyeswideshit · 19/12/2018 19:31

Presents from people. Santa is just a glorified postman in our family.

TeenTimesTwo · 19/12/2018 19:33

Stockings from Santa
Other presents from parents and family.

It is no less magical, and it means fewer complications. No need for:
-parents send the money / parents buy but Santa delivers
when they start questioning why Jocasta got a Nintendo Switch and an X-box

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/12/2018 19:35

Stocking presents are from Father Christmas (or they were, before the DC became cynical humbug teenagers). They, naturally, still have to HAVE stockings, though... 😂😂😂

NaughtyNoraTheNamechanger · 19/12/2018 19:35

When I was little all presents were from Santa. To this day I didn't know other parents did it differently. It has only just clicked with me now that I never ever wondered why I didn't get any presents that were labelled as from my parents... just as I was reading this thread I thought that.

FluffyMcCloud · 19/12/2018 19:36

Stocking from Santa. Family all exchange gifts which we put under the tree.

If everything comes from Santa, is it only kids that get presents? Do the kids not buy anything for parents? Do parents buy for each other and label From Santa? What about grandparents - do they buy gifs for kids or are theirs from Santa too? It strikes me that if all presents are from Santa then Christmas is a horribly selfish time for kids as it’s literally just about them being given stuff and not learning about them giving too...

Oysterbabe · 19/12/2018 19:36

The main one and stocking from father Christmas, other presents from us, friends and family.

SleepySofa · 19/12/2018 19:38

We tell DS that mummy and daddy (and aunties and uncles and grandparents etc) have asked Father Christmas to bring his presents - essentially we put an order in and he delivers them. That way everyone who buys presents for him gets a thank you.

paddler78 · 19/12/2018 19:39

We /family/ friends buy the presents, Father Christmas then collects and decides whether they've been good enough to being them back Smile
