YANBU. Perfect excuse for takeaways!

We got our oven cleaned recently and it was spotless. The first time my DP dropped some food on it (about 24 hours later) I almost cried. YANBU.

Vitalogy · 17/12/2018 19:13

I know, It's gotta be done though. The novelty soon wears off Smile

Gigglebrain · 17/12/2018 19:14

I got a steam cleaner last week, I used it on my oven it’s brilliant!

Madmarchpear · 17/12/2018 19:14

I just baby wiped my 3 day old oven after a 2 min tiger bread reinvigoration. Its funny because I hadn't cleaned the one taken out last week for 2 years.

Pippa12 · 17/12/2018 19:16

I pay £20 every 3 months for a wonderful gent to come and restore my oven to its former glory. It gleams and i love it!

pigsDOfly · 17/12/2018 19:16

Oh I hate having to dirty a new oven. You can never get back that newness.

Is it just the oven or a whole new cooker? If it's just the oven there's lots you can cook on the hob. Otherwise it's going to be takeaways, sandwiches, sushi, anything that can be eaten raw for the foreseeable future; maybe not chicken though.

Sexnotgender · 17/12/2018 19:18

Unless it’s self cleaning or heats from the bottom, but a magic oven liner before you use it.

Just amazon primed one! Thank you 😊

Just an oven. The hob was fine, I just hated the stupid ass double oven that was in.

On ocd cleaners programme on channel four they had a lady who never used her oven. She had a new microwave / oven combo thing she would use instead!
It's hard not to use it this time of year ; unless you intend to eat out or go to the relatives every day!
Shame though a new oven is a thing of wonder.

Squatternutbosh123 · 17/12/2018 19:41

We've just got a new oven, in the manual it says never to use a steam cleaner on it 🤔

tryingtosortmylifeout · 17/12/2018 19:43

You could always do a Carrie Bradshaw and use it for storage!

Unfortunately I do actually love cooking which is why I replaced the pointless double oven that came with the house.

We've been in this house (with it's shiny new oven) for 6 months now and I've still not used it. I just can't bring myself to do it Grin

MaidenMotherCrone · 17/12/2018 19:47

I only use one of my ovens for storage, it’s lovely and sparkly. The other is well used and a bit manky.

DBN1 · 17/12/2018 19:47

You could always do a Carrie Bradshaw and use it for storage! I put the fridge overspill in mine. Or anything I don't want my husband to find! Wink

italiancortado · 17/12/2018 19:51

I have just got a new oven (so new it's still in the box) and am terrified to use it and dirty it!

Looking at oven liners on amazon, any brand I should be looking for?

We just got a new one here too ( after DH managed to explode the other one so he couldn’t complain !) and I think it’s been cleaned more times in the week or so we’ve had it , than the old one did in the 7 years we had that one !

Triskaidekaphilia · 18/12/2018 15:02

I've had mine about 18 months and it's self cleaning but I can't work out how to do the self cleaning setting Confused

Have you looked online? Might tell you how to do it.

I had a friend with a fantastic kitchen who only looked on the barbecue outside.
Rain or shine she was outside cooking so as not to mess up the kitchen.
Bonkers

PostmanBos · 18/12/2018 15:49

If you wipe it out regularly it will be a lot easier to clean.
