Married a long time ....15 years.. his hobbies are expensive...think surfing and martial art.
Already have concert tickets for next year. Going on holiday in April so saving for that.
Anything he Likes he just buys for himself.
Is not at all into sentimental stuff.
Have bought him trips out /experiences before he hasn't used them and it's been wasted.
WTF do I buy this man!
Oh my aibu... Aibu to think sod it here's fifty quid in a card.

LEDLenser torch

All blokes love torches, especially tactical ones

Usernumbers1234 · 17/12/2018 16:24

Subscription of some sort? Magazine / website membership of something he’s into?

Cheeeeislifenow · 17/12/2018 16:25

It's hard to know what you mean by "think". Do you mean he likes surfing and marital arts? No wonder you're confused. I bet it happens a lot (think often).

Anything with 'tactical' in its description.

Nice DE razor set.

Neoprene hat
Gloves
Rash vest
Board wax

chocolatecoveredraisons · 17/12/2018 16:28

Watch Phillip scofield how to spend it well at Christmas

Cheeeeislifenow · 17/12/2018 16:36

Yes martial art and surfing.. but also wind surfing.. I bought him a razor last year.

Ah. Well, my suggestions (think gifts) could be used for either.

Footwear (think booties), maybe.

Gloves (think mittens with fingers).
Showers (think water falling from the sky) which attach to your car.
Magazine (think floppy book) subscription.

Genuine suggestions (think care in the community).

ifyoulikepinacolada · 17/12/2018 16:46

Bloody hell peak it’s quite common to use the word “think” as an abbreviation of the phrase “think along the lines of”. Is there any need to be quite so nasty?

peakSafeSpace · 17/12/2018 16:48

"Nasty"? Really?

I gave genuine suggestions. I think they're pretty good presents.

I'm not sure that 'think' is in common parlance outside of MN.

easyandy101 · 17/12/2018 16:49

I just keep on suggesting torches on threads like this in the hope that the OP is my wife

Blush

@easyandy101

DH left me subtle hints last year. Post-Its (think paper with adhesive on one side) which simply said Inova T10R. Luckily I got the hint (think clue).

easyandy101 · 17/12/2018 16:54

Nice work peak! Grin

oreoxoreo · 17/12/2018 16:55

I am feeling generous this year so bought my DP a set of bedding (we live separately), personalised cufflinks, chinos (noticed his got faded) and a belt (noticed it got damaged).
So everything practical!

Waddsup12 · 17/12/2018 16:55

Surfing...LOMO website, all sorts of stuff for the watersport enthusiast.

Cheeeeislifenow · 17/12/2018 16:58

Jesus..... Not sure what your issue is peak.
Thanks for helpful suggestions.

I would never buy anyone who's really into an activity a thing for that activity unless they told me exactly what it was they wanted

People have brand loyalty/brand swerves and standards for stuff that may not be immediately obvious to someone who doesn't do the activity

I love climbing but I doubt anyone could buy me something climbing related. Actually it happened once, someone bought me a chalk bag, which is a really common thing for a climber to have, unless you're like me and never use it and in fact hate chalk

shpoot · 17/12/2018 17:02

Merry Christmas (think time of year to be kind to others) Peak

WTBE · 17/12/2018 17:03

I have a male relative exactly like this, in the end I did think oh sod it and gave him cash in a card and he's more than happy! I feel your pain OP.

WTBE · 17/12/2018 17:05

Actually, I remember an electric toothbrush went down a treat with him Grin

Cheeeeislifenow · 17/12/2018 17:08

Easyandy you're right....I wouldn't buy those things, they are too expensive and I wouldn't know brands Etc toothbrush is a good idea once it's not seen as an insult!!

OP posts:
Waddsup12 · 17/12/2018 17:35

That's why I suggested LOMO, it has useful stuff that is more not novelty exactly but not out and out serious for the sport, so dry bags and things to put stuff in, changing stuff, knives....stuff I want basically!
