Married a long time ....15 years.. his hobbies are expensive...think surfing and martial art.
Already have concert tickets for next year. Going on holiday in April so saving for that.
Anything he Likes he just buys for himself.
Is not at all into sentimental stuff.
Have bought him trips out /experiences before he hasn't used them and it's been wasted.
WTF do I buy this man!
Oh my aibu... Aibu to think sod it here's fifty quid in a card.

My DH won't buy for me tho, as I'm too particular!

FinallyHere · 17/12/2018 19:38

Have you considered writing him a (love) letter? Maybe based around a photograph, maybe just out of the blue? Something that he can cherish, so maybe as much about him as about you. A moment you shared, something private to the two of you. A reminder of a memory which will touch him.

He doesn't need things, he doesn't want experiences, remind him of what he does have.

Not easy, but quite simple really.

BeanTownNancy · 17/12/2018 19:59

Buy him some wellies. 🤣

(was reading the hunter wellies thread and now I want some nice, good quality wellies.)

CantsitWontsit · 17/12/2018 20:08

I got my DH a Superdry hoody as he lives in the last one I got him. Also, his surprise fancy gift is a set of Bose noise cancelling headphones. They are ridiculously expensive for headphones (260 on Amazon, but 280-320 everywhere else) but I know he will love them, and all the guys I have spoken to about them have said they are bloody brilliant and said they wished I was their wife 😀

Lazybonita · 17/12/2018 20:23

My DH is into various water sports and often camps to persue said sports, I have got him cool camping gear. Retro oil lamp, stainless steel plates and glasses. Has he got a dry robe for after surfing? My DH loves his.

GreatWesternValkyrie · 17/12/2018 20:26

I'm not sure that 'think' is in common parlance outside of MN

Ahh you’re wrong (think not right) but I was somewhat amused (think chuckle).

Maybe a clever watch Op? The manlove for watches seems pretty common, so one with some unusual technical features or gadgetry might be good?

Failing that, buy ridiculous spy gadgets!

ohhelpohnoitsa · 17/12/2018 20:27

Sunglasses

Happytea · 17/12/2018 20:30

Go pro camera

HavelockVetinari · 17/12/2018 20:33

If he loves surfing, how about helping him start a sand collection? Buy him a load of small glass vials from eBay. Attached is a photo of a very comprehensive collection - inspiration?

Don't buy him stuff he doesn't want. I would talk to him and agree that you don't need to buy expensive presents for each other this year. Then get him his favourite beer/wine/whatever and let him give you something lovely that he's already bought for you...

FlippinNora1 · 17/12/2018 20:35

A Robies Robe for getting dry and changed on the beach after surfing? Trendy and practical!

Disquieted1 · 17/12/2018 20:40

You can't go wrong with a Swiss Army Knife. The more attachments the better.
Works for men of any age.

SpiritedLondon · 17/12/2018 20:40

Anything kit based goes down well with my DH & BIL who surf and kayak. ( the go pro would be a good choice). Other than that does he drink coffee? An Aeropress is rugged and portable ( non wasteful) way of making coffee and you could get a coffee subscription from a local roastery to go with it.

Hoopaloop · 17/12/2018 20:46

An alien fleshlight.

Hoopaloop · 17/12/2018 20:47

Some sort of device for securing the car key when he's in the water.

PooleySpooley · 17/12/2018 20:49

My OH is getting vouchers.

He’s a PITA to buy for then buys himself stuff just before Xmas but doesn’t give a list Angry

mashpot · 17/12/2018 20:59

I was coming on to say I just bought DH an electric toothbrush but I see it’s been coveredSmile. I went with Philips Sonicare, they’re the best!

Ginger1982 · 17/12/2018 20:59

I'd be really pissed off if I bought my DH trips or experiences and he just didn't use them. That's so rude.

Buy him socks and be done with it!

Cheeeeislifenow · 17/12/2018 23:11

Thanks for replies...dry robe is a great idea.. the sentimental ideas he genuinely would not appreciate at all. And as nice as. The sand idea is that would get on my nerves!
I have decided to go fairly practical.
I have bought a billabong and animal t shirt, I will get a luxury dressing gown and. Some whiskey and. I'll pick up sports socks too. Super boring but what can you do?
