AIBU to suppose that if it rains this much NOW then it won't rain in the summer holidays because all the rain will have been used up?

sorry - doesn't work like that (although I suspect you knew that anyway ).

MamaMaiasaura · 25/06/2007 10:42

love the idea tho

sniff · 25/06/2007 10:43

I hope your right that would be great

do you think we would still have a hosepipe ban !!!!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 10:54

I sort of imagine it will be worse because there is lots of water around, instead of it being somewhere else.

NotQuiteCockney · 25/06/2007 10:55

Unreasonable? No.

Unrealistic? Yes.

quadrophenia · 25/06/2007 10:58

ohhh you are applying the same logic as me

Freckle · 25/06/2007 11:01

I think this year's quota has just emptied itself in my back garden - and I was out there too. Cue one change of clothes including undies......

Freckle · 25/06/2007 11:02

Actually I think that should be quotient .

IntergalacticWalrus · 25/06/2007 11:02

I have just truged to the docs for a smear test wering a coat and boots. It's nearkly July FFS

DS1 has had major meltdown because I made him wer a jacket, and he has coataphobia

So I am hoping that this summer's quota of rain is nearly all used up. Although I suspect we have got last years unused rain to contend with as well

Desiderata · 25/06/2007 11:03

Ha ha! Could be possible.

If I'm holidaying in the UK, I always prefer it if it rains the week before, because two weeks of solid rain is quite unusual - even over here.

Soooooo, I'm going with slowreader's theory.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 11:04

I am trying to decide if I will look too much of a prat if I go shopping wearing my sailing waterproof. It wouldn't be so bad only it is navy with a yellow fluorescent hood.

IntergalacticWalrus · 25/06/2007 11:05

Ues, kathy you will look a prat.

However, you will be a dry prat, and the drowned rat look is never good

slowreader · 25/06/2007 11:05

INtergalacticW what an appalling thought it had never crossed my mind surely all last years unused rain was emptied down The Big Black Hole on 31st Dec?

i think statistically, it's unlikely to rain more this season. but then, 98% of statistics are made up...

LadyTophamHatt · 25/06/2007 11:24

Going off on atangebt a little but when the hosepipe ban was lifted here in april next door immediately got the sprinkler out and left it running for 1-2 hours in his garden.

day after day after day he did this (it did bug me. What a waste of water for a start??!!)

He does have a lovely garden...well he did have.....
Now his grass is parched and dry and and looks awful.

Ours which has never seen a sprinkler looks like a bowling green.

I can't tell you how smug I feel

LadyTophamHatt · 25/06/2007 11:24

tangent even....

GreebosWhiskers · 25/06/2007 11:34

At least dd is enjoying the weather - we took her out yesterday wearing her all-in-one waterproofs & wellies & she jumped in every puddle she saw. I took ds in the buggy so I could hide behind the raincover & made dh hold dd's hand so he was soaked from the knees down

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 11:35

DD1 is getting a lot of use out of her lovely, pink CROCS wellies she got for her bday.

She lurves them. Wore them to nursery today.

flibbertyjibbet · 25/06/2007 11:36

about 10 years ago it started raining in about May and didn't stop till about the end of august. I was going on holiday to Ireland in July and kept applying the logic of well if its raining now it must get better some time.... it didn't, we were driving round Ireland in the rain...
Last year it was super hot July, rained all august then nice and warm and dry again in September so fingers xxxd for a dry month coming up!

chopster · 25/06/2007 11:38

metcheck are saying still going to be raining next month. I am soo fed up with it. The dts are going to go up the walls being stuck in all week.

IntergalacticWalrus · 25/06/2007 11:41

Th plus side of thie shite weather is that I haven't had to inflict vast swathes of ugly, puvkered doughy flesh on the general public.

chopster · 25/06/2007 13:27

that doughy flesh should have been getting nicely baked by now though
