to think that there needs to be a 'rent a hug' service

Just that....a rent the hug service for people who have nobody to hug them. I was upset about something the other day and somebody gave me a hug. I've not had a hug for nearly ten years Sad

Oh OP hug

ElizavetaBathory · 24/11/2018 20:34

Bloody hell, ten years?! When I was getting divorced I told a long term work colleague I needed a hug and she provided one in the staff room, no questions asked. Sometimes you can just ask.

ElizavetaBathory · 24/11/2018 20:35

I agree, though - there's a special kind of ache for human contact. Hope you get a hug soon.

RangeRider · 24/11/2018 20:35

Sounds like a good idea to me. I hug a cat or a dog but it's not the same.

ElainaElephant · 24/11/2018 20:36

There is. There's even a qualification for it!

I'd give you a huge if I was near enough Flowers

ElainaElephant · 24/11/2018 20:38

No, I'd give you a hug ... dyac!

Thethiniceofanewday · 24/11/2018 20:46

I was just thinking this. I am having a crap time and would bloody love a hug. I would like to be able to buy one in the supermarket. 8 hugs or less queue.

AmIthatbloodycold · 24/11/2018 20:48

Oh wouldn't that be lovely. A big, adult, full on hug. Not had one for years and years

Oldraver · 24/11/2018 20:48

There are lots of comforting things that I have often thought there could be a market for.

Hair brushing, general stroking but not really massage, etc.

I love my DS to brush my hair or stroke my back with the brush and I in turn have to scratch his back

anunseemlylovefordustin · 24/11/2018 20:48

Yes! I would pay for a good solid comforting hug. Which makes me feel very sad to say 'out loud'
:/

Stoneagemum · 24/11/2018 20:56

This makes me grateful for my colleagues, we are there for the hug, the gentle touch, they 'don't fucking hug me if your life depends on it' and every other need we have if required

thesnailandthewhale · 24/11/2018 20:58

It's one of the worst bits of being single. I miss hugs, and i miss someone to give me a back rub or a foot rub.

Ohshitwhatnext · 24/11/2018 20:59

The nearest i get to a hug is from my duvet.

Coffeeandcrisps · 24/11/2018 21:05

See I’m single, and I crave a hug from my ex at times, but the idea of a random person hugging me, or even my mum, turns my stomach a bit. Which is weird, as I am a “hugger” I would have said, in that I greet friends with a quick hug / kiss..... but those full on body hugs? Just too intimate!

AmIthatbloodycold · 24/11/2018 21:06

It is thesnail, it is

It's made me feel very sad now

ShotsFired · 24/11/2018 21:10

I'd love that!

I have even entertained the idea of doing one of those "Free Hugs" signs and standing ina shopping centre!

I love hugs and miss them now Sad

TheDarkPassenger · 24/11/2018 21:10

Those full on body hugs are what I crave in my life.
I love it!
I have a dp and I hug him like this but even just doing it to anyone tbh 😂

However I do not like the half arsed hugs people do to say hello or goodbye. No thanks either LOVE ME or dont touch me

Stoneagemum · 24/11/2018 21:25

That's where it works for me wit selected colleagues, we work hard and close together so if we need a hug it has feeling with it, I'm your friend and I love you - not romantically for those that don't get it

TheMaddHugger · 24/11/2018 21:29

((((((((soft Hugs)))))))) For all

LynetteScavo · 24/11/2018 22:00

But surely a hug from someone you don't love is meaningless?

But then I have to warn colleagues never to hug me.

picklemepopcorn · 24/11/2018 22:11

Join a church. If you pick the right one, you'll get several hugs every Sunday and a few midweek when you bump into people when you are out and about. Grin

Mum2jenny · 24/11/2018 22:20

I have friends who'd hug me, but I'm not known to be tactile so if I'd ask they'd want to know why. But if I were desperate,I'd get a hug.

I'm afraid hugs are on my terms only ( and my best friends know this) Flowers

CloserIAm2Fine · 24/11/2018 22:31

YANBU

Sometimes when life is shitty you just need a hug. Mum-style hugs are the best hugs!

Life has been shitty for me lately and I’m counting down to my mum visiting so I can have a proper mum hug!

stressedmum15 · 24/11/2018 22:43

I agree it's sad we can't ask for hugs .
My dh hugged me last week because I was upset I felt better straight away . I like to hug my ds although he doesn't let me . It would be great if hugs were also on prescription.
