BACKGROUND:

I live in a rural area. There is a beautiful country park nearby, which is popular with walkers, dog walkers, cyclists, etc. Sometimes doggers too, but the less said about that, the better.

THE ISSUE:

I approached a woman who was with her dogs, tying a bag of dog poo on to the fence of a field full of sheep. I approached her and asked her to keep hold of it until she could put it in a bin, or take it home with her. Well, this made her really angry. She shouted at me, said she wasn’t going to “put fucking dog shit in my car”. Then told me to “mind my own fucking business”.

The fence in question belongs to a farmer friend of mine. He and his wife are sick of people doing this -people regularly tie bags of rubbish / dog poo on to their fences. They then have to remove and dispose of it. In addition, another friend of mine had her horse in for colic surgery a couple of years ago, and they removed multiple pieces of plastic carrier bags from his intestine. She believes that the plastic came from him chewing on bags that get left tied to fences.

WIBU to say something?

YWNBU

ElideLochan · 24/11/2018 11:53

Jesus, what is wrong with people, take your shit home with you

Happypie · 24/11/2018 11:54

No one is going to think that tying bags of dog poo to a farmers fence is ok. The woman you confronted did not think it was ok. She was just aggressive because she had been caught. Next time take a picture of her and put the picture on your local FB group. Public shame might be the only thing that works.

skybluee · 24/11/2018 11:54

Ugh, why would someone do this? You are not unreasonable.

Thebluedog · 24/11/2018 11:55

Sime people are so rude sometimes!

I do on occasions tie my dog poo on a branch when I’m out in the fields (no bins close by), but will always remember to pick them up on my return journey and take them home. However I’m presuming if it’s a country park then it’s got lots of bins

Stompythedinosaur · 24/11/2018 11:56

She is VVVU.

CemetaryGates · 24/11/2018 11:56

@Happypie

That's a good idea! Maybe I should just take a photo next time and shame them online, rather than confront them.

When did thing bags if dig shut to things become a thing. You have a dog, it shits, you tidy it up, you dump it somewhere appropriate. It's a know thing that dogs shit, it's also s known thing that dig shit is really unpleasant and toxic even in a plastic bag.

Your right, she's wrong by a country mile

skybluee · 24/11/2018 11:57

sorry bluedog, i was looking that up and there was a delay and it wasn't aimed at you. i wonder if the woman who is leaving them there knows they can kill animals. it can be really dangerous. she sounds horrible.

Malbecfan · 24/11/2018 11:57

YANBU. I live in a similar area and it is really really annoying. As someone else said, take a photo of her and her car. Send it to the farmer and put it on social media. If she doesn't want shit in her car, she should either walk there or get rid of the dog.

isseywithcats · 24/11/2018 11:57

when i had dogs i would never have dreamt of doing this could your friend maybe get some laminated notices and put them on his fences with a message on saying that farm animals are in danger from disposed of dog poo bags

CemetaryGates · 24/11/2018 11:58

@Thebluedog

Perhaps that's what some people do -I still think it's not on to tie your dog shit bags to a tree though, even if you are planning to collect them later.

People go to nice country parks for the beautiful scenery, not to see your poo filled bags dangling from the trees.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 24/11/2018 11:58

Can you honestly promise that you have never forgotten to retrieve your bagged up poo on the way back? I doubt it.
Bag it and drop it into a second carry bag, then you know you won't forget it

Flashingbeacon · 24/11/2018 11:59

I have no idea why people bag up dog poo just to leave the bag. If you’re your not going to bin it why wrap it in plastic. Our local park (which have bins every 2 ft) has trees full of bags of dog poo. How does that happen!

disneyspendingmoney · 24/11/2018 11:59

When did tying bags of dog shit to things become a thing?

Not

When did thing bags if dig shut to things become a thing

HappenstanceMarmite · 24/11/2018 12:00

I hate people sometimes. How could she possibly justify what she did and then how she reacted to your request.

Agree with photo on Facebook. Scum.

CemetaryGates · 24/11/2018 12:00

@skybluee

Seems it's a common occurrence then!

Immigrantsong · 24/11/2018 12:00

She wasn't a cf. She was bat shit crazy. That is a completely different thing.

CemetaryGates · 24/11/2018 12:04

@Malbecfan

It's infuriating isn't it!

I also often see McDonalds wrappers thrown out of car windows -which is particularly baffling, as the nearest McDonalds is about 20 miles away!

I just can't understand why people think "oh I know, let's go to this beautiful place, and then throw our rubbish all over it!"

Redken24 · 24/11/2018 12:07

Take a video and send it to your local council also on your local facebook page if your feeling really brave. I don't have a dog but these people really fucking annoy me.

CemetaryGates · 24/11/2018 12:08

@Immigrantsong

I think you mean dog shit crazy 😂

OP posts:
GimmeGimmeHellYeah · 24/11/2018 12:10

It doesn't really matter if you are 'going to pick it up later' ( sure ) Carry it, it's your animal's shit in a bag.

MadameButterface · 24/11/2018 12:12

Be real

Did you honestly expect anyone to reply ‘yabu, tying plastic bags of dogshit to fences is fine, here’s why?’

Yanbu to do what you did

Yabu to pretend that you’re conflicted about it

Celebelly · 24/11/2018 12:13

She's a CF. I hate seeing bags of poo tied to trees and things. It's bizarre. If there's no bin around, I carry the bag of poo home with me and put it in our bin when I get home. There are also things you can get to carry poo bags inside that seal the smell, so there's no excuse. She's just a lazy, cheeky fucker. Hope her next poo bag splits when she's scooping and she gets a handful of shit.
