I've mentiond this name to friends etc and they think I'm saying GRACE as in gracelyn or people ask 'is that a girls name'

I think people just hear the name GRACE and think girl.

What to you think?

I only know boys called Grayson, I wouldn’t even consider it for a girl. Although I don’t think it’s that common so I can see why people might mishear. When you say “this is my son, Grayson” I think people will get it.

For what it’s worth, I love the name Grayson

Waveatnoon · 15/11/2018 20:53

I've actually just found out it is also a girls name but the girls spelling is usually Gracen.

Boys name, the clue is in the "son" bit of the name.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 15/11/2018 20:54

It doesn't make me think girl - it doesn't sound particularly feminine. It does make me think of Larry Grayson however.

Waveatnoon · 15/11/2018 20:55

Yes I totally get the son part I I'm talking about said aloud

I think of Grayson Perry, who sometimes wears a dress as an 'alter ego', Claire.

dayswithaY · 15/11/2018 20:56

Shut that door!

StoorieHoose · 15/11/2018 20:56

What accent are you saying Grayson in if it sounds like Grace?

KatieKittens · 15/11/2018 20:57

Grayson sounds like Grayson to me. A boys name.

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 15/11/2018 20:57

My son is called Grayson, no one has ever mistaken him for a girl, most people think Mason though, not Grayson. Also my young cousin once called him gracey for short which I did not like, we call him Gray.

Ilovedotcotton · 15/11/2018 20:58

Definitely a boy’s name.

ThunderInMyHeart · 15/11/2018 20:58

Panic, what, like Madison too?

I like it. Makes me think of Grayson Perry

Birdsgottafly · 15/11/2018 20:59

People of my generation, 50+, will think of Larry Grayson. So I'm surprised that they associate it with a girl.

I know a few Grahams and they hate the shortening to Grey, of their name. Which Grayson will get.

wowfudge · 15/11/2018 21:00

Larry Grayson and Grayson Perry immediately came to mind. Just use Grace instead of mucking around and giving the poor child a lifetime of having to tell people how to spell her name.

LightningOne · 15/11/2018 21:00

Definitely sound's more like a boy's name, especially as the female equivalent (Grace) exists and is well known to exist.

Even though other -son names like alison, madison are obviously girls' names, grayson doesn't sound like a girl's name at all.

Birdsgottafly · 15/11/2018 21:01

After I typed my first response, I thought, Grayson Perry.

There's room for a lot of piss taking in that name.

Blueblueyellow · 15/11/2018 21:02

Yea agree with stooriehoose. I'd pronounce it Gray-son not grace-son.And it's a really nice name.

greyspottedgoose · 15/11/2018 21:03

I have a Grayson, I'm not sure why there's a lot of room for pisstaking? But then I don't mock other people's names 🤷🏻‍♀️

hidinginthenightgarden · 15/11/2018 21:04

I have a DD called Grace and "grayson" does not at all remind me of it.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 15/11/2018 21:07

I’d think Grayson Perry, so man in a dress

Snowatdawn · 15/11/2018 21:07

I understand why it sounds a bit girly. I would avoid as it gives room for teasing.

Theweasleytwins · 15/11/2018 21:08

Courtney coxs love interest in Cougar town is called Grayson. Never thought it was girly

raindancemumma · 15/11/2018 21:08

Grayson is definitely a (fab) boys name

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 15/11/2018 21:10

Any name give room for teasing! My husband, siblings and I all have normal names and we’re all bullied, even my very normal name ended up somehow rhyming with something else which my parents could never have predicted! Kids can be cruel if they want to be!

greyspottedgoose · 15/11/2018 21:23

We use sonny as a nickname
