I've mentiond this name to friends etc and they think I'm saying GRACE as in gracelyn or people ask 'is that a girls name'

I think people just hear the name GRACE and think girl.

What to you think?

I think it sounds like a sirname.

Love Grayson Perry, and his cross-dressing. Not so keen on the name in general though. Another one of those surnames as first names that seem a bit faddy.

AGHHHH · 15/11/2018 21:30

Sounds likes a male name.

TheLastMermaid · 15/11/2018 21:34

Grayson is a great name and not unheard of these days. I know a brilliant 3 year old who also goes by Gray. Def a boy's name. I remember Larry Greyson but the connection hadn't even occurred to me.

I find any girl's name ending in 'son' incongruous (I've heard, for example, of girls called Emerson) as it's intrinsically a masculine root because presumably the come from surnames meaning 'son of'.

Thunder actually in the States Madison is more of a boy's name.

ThunderInMyHeart · 15/11/2018 21:49

That’s odd. After my time spent in the States and an American exhusband, I’ve never known a boy to be called Madison.

In fact, I had an American boyfriend who wanted to name a daughter after Founding Father James Madison, this feminising it completely
