To think I’m too young for sprouting chin hairs

Just as the title says really. I’m 35 and have noticed in the last 6 months I’m sprouting thick black hairs from beneath my chin. I try to look out for the buggers to catch them early but this doesn’t seem to happen and I only spot them when they’re a good centimetre long. I thought I’d be about 80 when I had this problem.

I’m39 and feel your pain. They seem to be more prevalent between ovulation and my period. Good magnifying mirror and tweezers.

Birdsgottafly · 11/11/2018 13:37

My DDs Friend is 23 and getting them.

They are usually hormonal, which is why they often go worse during the Peri-Menopause, on some contraception etc.

FaFoutis · 11/11/2018 13:37

I have had this for most of my life. I have a scar on my chin and it looks like a goat is trying to emerge from it unless I tweezer it every day.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 11/11/2018 13:38

Don't worry it won't be too long before they start turning white!
As fluffy says, tweezers and magnifying mirror are your friends.

MoonieMoon · 11/11/2018 13:42

Nope, I've been getting them for years and I'm only 28. I have to pluck loads of them out every morning!

immummynoiam · 11/11/2018 13:42

Not too young for witch hair, no - I’ve had these since about your age! I have to be constantly vigilant!

immummynoiam · 11/11/2018 13:42

I recommend an epilator

LewisMam · 11/11/2018 13:45

I was 27 when I got my first chin hair. At 40 I now have 3-4 of them. It will probably just get worse Sad

Caprisunorange · 11/11/2018 13:46

Seriously? Mine started in my 20s! Thought that was normal

EmeraldShamrock · 11/11/2018 13:47

I have noticed lots of white ones sprouting. I am 38 and very fair, There are like whiskers. I may invest in an epilator. Would an epilator work on blonde hair, and does it cause pimples?

SaucyJack · 11/11/2018 13:48

Nope, fraid not.

Everyone else is doing it. We just don’t talk about it.

ohreallyohreallyoh · 11/11/2018 13:49

My secret weapon against chin hair is a pubic hair batter operated razor...never used in pubic area, I must say! Works a treat. I can never manage to pluck with tweezers. Utter wuss!

Waitingonasmiley42 · 11/11/2018 13:49

Started at 19 for me Sad

immummynoiam · 11/11/2018 13:49

Doesn’t seem to cause me any - I don’t have blonde hair but can’t think why not

WindyWednesday · 11/11/2018 13:50

Totally normal I’m afraid.

DrPeppersPhD · 11/11/2018 13:50

I was 14 when I started getting them, along with a small patch of hair on my chest.

vampirethriller · 11/11/2018 14:10

I was about 28, I get 3 big white ones and black one that appears on my cheek overnight!

JennyOnAPlate · 11/11/2018 15:18

I could grow a full goatee if I wanted to. I actually have to shave my actual face every day (I'm 38)

DuckofDoom · 11/11/2018 15:22

I got my first at 17. I’m now 30 and halfway through laser hair removal to get rid of the tufts on my chin.

I think I was about 10 when my moustache appeared so that was nice

Twirlbites1 · 11/11/2018 15:29

I was 14. I've spent in excess of £10,000 on electrolysis and laser hair removal. I still remember the first day I wore my hair back from my face after 2 years of HOUR LONG electrolysis sessions to clear my beard and my sideburns. I've had from my waist to my ankles lasered. I look normal now. I've started a fund for DD (7) already. No PCOS, no hormonal abnormalities, and I'm white.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 11/11/2018 15:46

Mine don;t so much sprout as barge their way through! I swear I go to bed and nothing,,wake up and its hanging there about 2cm long!Maybe thats a slight exaggeration but they are there!

Fishcakey · 11/11/2018 15:48

I have three that Sprout at various times. Am 45 but can't have had them years!

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 11/11/2018 15:51

I have polycistic ovaries so have had to get used to my beard. I use a laser machine at home and razors as I often forget.

EmbraRocks · 11/11/2018 15:53

Why are they so thick and strong?! The hair on my head is wispy and so bloody fine!!

StartingAgain1 · 11/11/2018 15:53

Early 30s I've had them for years. Can go months without one then all of a sudden there's either 1 or 3 long black hairs poking out a good cm! Always surprised how thick they are but it seems a common thing women just don't talk about!
